I can definitely understand the annoyance part, I really really do since I work on my pets all the time. However, I would not like to see a drastic change in the lore of how it goes to make such a fiendish friend. I would even love like a Where's Merana mini thing where like tempest she randomly shows up on the explore screen and if you click on her she can grant you a hydrus pet so long as you don't tell anyone where she currently was. That should be easy to implement as a placeholder until the real plan comes or something while still being rare.

Something like that would be great! That would be a lot better than just having no means of getting the pet other than the MP.

It would be a lot better than not having any means other than a cash shop potion to get a color that was readily available to anyone with the map for so long. I hope something like that gets implemented while we wait for the plot.

okay, i do admit im being extremely impatient. D: its definitely worth having a well thought out plan, and maintaining the lore properly. im just.. ahhh, i want one so bad!! lmao

Galactic is available year-round - Iltallo can bless your pets any day of the month as long as you bring him the gems. You can buy the gems from user shops for next to nothing. Harvest is available year-round - the potion lottery trickles a very small amount of the potions into the system. [sub]And people are going to swarm and stock up on potions this Fireside now that we know the colour is exclusive to Fireside.[/sub]

The site has moved away from limited edition pets, so I kinda don't get the point of re-introducing a similar forced limited edition scheme again for shits and giggles? Hydrus pets were the map's main selling point if you weren't into quests and weren't into vending.

I would have loved staff to have a little footnote about having a solution in the works included in the news posts when Merana went for a leisurely swim around Subeta. :'D Then again, considering how spotty Subeta is with communications and how many times people have literally had to prod staff to remind them that something is A Thing That Exists and should be brought back... This site has effectively trained a good part of its userbase (myself included) to be paranoid, apprehensive and worried about anything and everything that happens on-site.

D: The stuff I've suggested on the last page wouldn't directly involve Merana appearing in person, but it would be trickier to code than your idea. Whatever is simpler and faster, but still stays lore-friendly to the plot = 👍

I am just hoping it is not a random event like deal because I miss them all the damn time. Your ideas aren't bad either or trickier to code, I just feel like it might require more art which is just more time. Just a little icon that appears in a set like 6 spots that is clickable on the map. Could take us back to the old quest page reusing the same art is easier to impliment now rather than later. Though if memory serves me right you had to file a ticket to change the pet of merana's quest since there was no quit. Like the last time I checked her she had a pet of mine I hadn't had in years. So everyone, if they haven't already need to be reset.

As annoying as it can be and like it has been said before, we need patience! Did you even consider that maybe Hydrus could become an holiday only color and only available during Kheelhauliday? Like Harvest is to Fireside you know, granted you can win at the potion lottery, but chance are slim outside of the holiday!

I like the idea of a Mini event like for Tempest (with a widget or something to tell you that she visited you if you missed her you know, NOT like Tempest that you could sadly miss but like Oracle!) during the wait, if it isn't to become holiday limited tough. They could change the oracle widget for maybe like random event that you can act on it... or like maybe the buff thing for the extra quests and discounts in npc shops.

One thing for sure in my mind, Hydrus pets will come back with something similar if not the same as before, we just need patience.

@ Permanent Hmm. had a good idea - what about it popping up under the account buffs with a tiny icon and a 1-hour timer? That way, people wouldn't miss it and the buffs page could lead to a quest, a blessing page, or however they want to integrate it.

And yeah, there was no quitting Merana's quests. At all. Period. Even if you disowned the pet and someone else adopted it, they'd still have the quest for that particular pet.

@ Tonks I'd be pretty unhappy if it was a holiday-only colour because there is no hydrus potion. :( What if you're sick during the holiday, or you're somewhere with no internet access? Or bigger real life problems get in the way and you miss out because of something that was completely out of your control (like storm/hurricane season).

Definitely a fan of the buff icon. I am not a fan of the widget idea only because I know a lot of people who don't use them, myself included. But the buff icon is standard and easy for everyone to see. The buff lets you meet at her hideout for x amount of time before a powerful riptide or something moves it .etc. I just want to stick to the whole Where's Merana? sort of mini thing until something comes out as I know it is a plan.

That would actually be awesome and bring more lore other than HERP DERP JUST RESTOCK AT THAT ONE SHOP WHERE EVERYBODY TRIES TO RESTOCK.

, I agree that it would be a shame if you only had a week or two a year to get that color. But at the very least you could plan and know, even ask to friends around you to help you if they don't see you online when it happen.

I don't think we would have news about Merana before Vesnali (end even then...), since it will be pretty much all over the place until then as wouldn't really fit during Morostide, Fireside, Lumnaire, Pandemic, Masquerade or even Vesnali. Unless they don't care about the lore enough and just make her (or the blessing of sort) come back without much explanation. It might not take much to make her come back, but it would be nice to see some tough behind it.

I don't mind hydrus being unavailable for a while, I'm just afraid of how long that might be. If we have to wait an entire year for Bad Omen Part II to bring hydrus back, that's too long.

It's only been a month so I don't want to freak out yet, but remember when we had to wait like 4 months for anything to happen in Shengui Guo after its release? That was a bad decision and I don't want to see that release model repeated.

Yeah I too am hoping there is something put into effect rather soon but temporarily because I want to imagine they have something grand coming up. Also morostide is coming and that is always a big draw and focus so I wasn't expecting a new means of acquiring hydrus pets until at least after that event past.

Ah, thanks for letting us know, I was really worried it would take a long while, what with all the other events going on. Sounds like it might still take a little while, but that's better than not knowing if anything's on the table yet. Is there any chance of us getting tempest like events until then, as Permanent suggested, or is it a complete no go?

As someone who hated that you could do saggi quests while he was supposedly off doing omen plot stuff, I love that you can't do merana's quests now that shes off plotting world domination or shinwas death or whatever (P.S. I'd totally help with the latter seawitch>seacow). lore is cool.
