How did I almost miss this thread...I love this idea! I hope this becomes real. I wonder what the Transcribed scrolls would have written on them? Perhaps the best joke in the history of forever?!

I like this idea very much. Maybe lower AP pets wouldn't be able to have the higher value scrolls transcribed...(my highest tier is only 6 so this would also exlcude me!) ;)
I also like the idea suggestd by on page 1, but that would be similar to what we are already doing in training...
good idea but I think you shouldn't have the scroll returned to you if you have it made into a book to read to your pet you just lose that scroll and need to make a new one

I love this idea. Having more books is always a great idea, especially since we rely on them so much for gaining intel points to equip scrolls when we battle! I definitely would prefer this to making scrolls readable, and having to deal with the headache of accidentally reading a rare scroll (ie-Shriek of Despair) to my pet by accident!

I like this idea, however, once created I would like the scroll to only be readable & not saleable or transferable to other users. Otherwise, certain users would just use it as another opportunity for profiteering.
I wish I could find some of the retired scrolls like the Tasselled Aegis scroll! I finally got the gift of the Forj scroll!
I like the sound of this idea. But I'm agreeing with what said,so scrolls won't triple in costs.
Like a good neighbor, stay over there!

omg I write too much v_v
That would be cool, Are you thinking sort of the same mechanic as the antique shop? Like an expensive 'copy' option that gives your pet the read book and lets you keep your battle scroll, and a cheaper, direct to active pet 'readable only' version where the battle scroll disappears.
waves Hiiiii lairbears <3 ^_^ I'm glad we got pinged here, I was gonna ping yesterday but I chickened out LOL
lol lousy? You crazy! <3 I suppose I see the worry about scammers, but so many items on subeta are built almost exactly alike on purpose; every set of recolors, tattoo pages, not to mention every scroll of each element already being indistinguishable from each other. And all of those groups of items contain cheap commons up to seemingly unattainable rares. Luckily subeta has also set item icons up so that they're way more easily shop search/account searched than neo ever has had it. I think making the scrolls look worn, and adding the 'Transcribed' word to the beginning is enough of a difference. But if we want to be extra careful, we could also mirror image the scrolls. ^_^ (And staff could put a note on them 'not for battle' or 'readable only' - that's a shorter note than the transformables ended up getting) Most importantly to this point, subeta staff and our help/ticket system here are SO much more responsive so that if you really got scammed, filing a ticket will likely get your situation sorted out and the scammer caught. We are no neo! :D Which is probably why I've not heard of many mix up scams like that here whereas I was always reading about people getting tricked like that back on neo. (or maybe I just live under a rock here, totally plausible lol)
To the point about scrolls turning into books = more expensive scrolls, just a clarification that in Virus's suggestion here the scrolls don't themselves don't transform, the scribe just makes a copy. (or else they might as well just make the scrolls readable which is what we're avoiding here) This way battlers can read their scrolls to their battle pets (because that makes lore type sense) without making scrolls readable at all. So no having to choose between using a powerful battle scroll for battle or more intel or accidentally reading a rare scroll to your pet. :D
LAFFY TAFFY JOKES!... or no, DAD JOKES! YES! same thing? ha ;)
I love that idea! Of course a pet couldn't bring the scroll to be transcribed until they were smart/powerful enough to make and use it! That's a fun aspect to add in. <3 Oh, and wow, I totally missed Sorcerer's idea, that's also a great idea! ^_^ Less items is probably always good for us around here. LOL So then you would take it to the scribe, (or maybe in this case a sensei?) study it, and it would get added to your read books list? That could go back to 's idea too, so the two options could be to take the scroll to either the scribe to get a copy for study/reading while keeping the battle copy, or the cheaper option of going to the sensei who guides your study instead, using up the battle copy (as payment or because the sensei demolishes it lol) and reading the scroll to your pet. (HA! Just thought, the sensei could be like the hustler of shengui guo - or maybe straight up the hustler in disguise XD and he goes "psst... I'll give you a deal on converting that scroll, but I'll need to keep your original for my archives....")
I love all the interesting ideas about this suggestion, it could be such a fun feature and I think there've been plenty of ideas brought up to make this plausible so that we're not just flooding the economy with dupe scroll books. As far as the 'I'd rather scrolls were just readable' argument, you crazy too! lol That may sound easier, but it's much less interesting and has been argued against plenty so... :/ I donno that staff would ever do it. Hopefully not honestly, because please don't eat my cobalt eternal, I just finally got one! lol :C
I wonder what staff thinks of these options? Gotta love a good brainstorming session. ^_^
I don't know why you would want so many new books all at once, because it just leads to more power creep. Int is already easy enough to come by with boosters and the ~2000 books we already have on-site.
If this is just as a way to make low-level scrolls useful, a better way would probably be to revamp the scroll system. A tier 1 pet can equip the most powerful scrolls with little effort, which is why no one bothers with weaker scrolls. If scrolls were tied to tier somehow, or had limits to how many of each you could bring into battle, then you'd be forced to make use of a wider variety of scrolls.
"Transcribing" scrolls into books is just going to make it easier to load your pets up on Shrieks and stuff and further imbalance the whole battle system. I don't know why you'd want that.

yes to this idea... My pets are more learned than fighters.

AP takes care of that issue though. Yes, a weaker pet may be able to equip a Void, but if they only have 50 AP total and want to use said Void scroll, then they sacrifice the use of their others in exchange for it.
also, as Virus stated, the transcribed version of the scroll would only be readable, not useable in battling.
disagree, cause there are some plot/achievement based scrolls that are few and hard to come by now. And even if a person did own one of those rare scrolls, they'd only be able to make a transcribed/book version of it, so there'd be no issue with those exclusive scrolls getting devalued.

While the idea sounds nice, I think it's too messy in practice. I agree with in that it is a power creep. It's only a temporary fix on making lower level scrolls useful even if you somehow put a limit to the amount of times a scroll is transcribed into a readable version.
The problem is that as they add books to the site, it becomes easier to earn int/AP. There's no cap on AP, which means that the average AP continues to rise as they add more and more books to the site. That's what power creep is. Regular stats are capped to avoid a similar problem so battle admins don't have to continue to make challengers stronger and stronger.
And for the second part, I understood that already. I'm not worried about battle scrolls becoming more common, I'm worried about people having too much AP. I think the scroll system is broken as is, and this suggestion would only make the problem worse.

I know very well what power creep is, and yes, that is exactly the reason why we have capped stats. Scroll icons run off your pet's other stats in actual battle as opposed to intel, so your weapons and scrolls are only as good as your pet's stats.

pros// more books more INT more scrolls AP! ::how to read a scroll to learn to read the original scroll.
cons// sP and quantity related
I really like this idea. There are ways to control the outflux of scrolls to the market. This concept can be a mash-up of the following existing features:
It might then work like this: You leave a scroll at, let's say, the Scribe for X days. After X days if you don't collect your readable scroll you'll get only your original battling scroll back and nothing else. Then you have only one option to send the transcribed scroll directly to your active pet's collection (Antique Shop). The cost to transcribe scroll can be a flat 500,000 sP, or scale by AP (say, if a scroll is 3 AP, it costs 300k to transcribe it). By the time you finish with the cheaper scrolls (those requiring up to 5AP to equip) you'll read enough books to gain a little more than 2 AP. Scrolls which require 6AP to equip, if also require 600k to transcribe, now become similar in price to intel boosters so they're not necessarily cheap anymore.
If transcribed scrolls are account-bound, it is less likely that readable scrolls will flood the market, and rarer scrolls from plot/ achievement retain their value because they are not easily attainable/ accessible to everyone.
The downside is that ingredients to make cheaper scrolls will rocket in prices, and perhaps Maleria will need to relocate her favourite quest source to another shop.
This doesn't make sense to me. Rarer scrolls already retain value because of the rarity of them and use. They will still have the attraction, and thats the stats/use/rarity. If anything it will make them more expensive as people try to find them to use/lend.
