Yay! Glad everyone is liking it!!

Ooh and I just thought of an option if staff/some users feel like the limit per day isn't enough to balance the idea of potentially unlimited book copies. What if there was a chance of the scribe/scribe's assistant losing/damaging the scroll? All the more reason to leave the event specific/hard to get ones out - or at least make their chance of being damaged smaller and say the scribe/assistant saw how valuable it was and were more careful with them. And/Or maybe you could pay them a bonus (CSC feature?) to be extra perfectly careful and not break/lose them.

So, along with the limit of copies able to be made per user per day, also add a chance that the original scroll could disappear The destruction chance could get smaller as rarity goes up A small CSC fee (5-25) could be paid to make the destruction chance zero (per transaction or per day?)

Explain any scroll loss away through a bumbling assistant character, or perhaps the reason could vary - Scribe's pet, swarm of Zasaba, work tote got splashed at the bathhouse on break, wind blew them away, ink spilled, etc...

What if you had the option to convert or copy a scroll that's being held in the shrine, with different prices for the two options? I've used the shrine a couple of times, particularly for that mini event where you were requested to do a bunch of stuff around the site, but I really had no use for the scrolls I was making and didn't care for the extra clutter. Being able to convert them to readable-only scrolls would have been great, because then I could have the achievement without having to deal with useless items.

Although if this were made a thing, the ingredients for the scrolls would become more scarce and expensive too, which would kinda suck.

The other idea is cool too, although there's a downside to it too seeing that the original books would then become more expensive, and some books are already quite so. Still, any opportunity to get more reading material I think is an idea I can get behind, especially if it adds more layers to the site.

Edit: I definitely like the idea of there being a chance of failure. Hah, that could add a new achievement to the game, too.

I definitely like this idea. I'm more of a casual battler, so this would be a great thing to get me to make and then use/read scrolls.

But if you copy the scroll into a readable version AND then get both back...then you could have only one scroll and copy it X number of times~so this idea will never happen.

It makes more sense to just make scrolls readable, but then you may as well make trading cards readable too. Having scrolls just for battling gives them a niche.

-shrug- As I said it was just an idea I had. Some scrolls are too rare to be just turned into readable versions on their own anyway. Giving limits or special stipulations could stem the flow of the copied scrolls from flooding the market.

It's interesting, but since there's no limit on how many times a scroll can be copied, it will just end up with books as cheap as most scrolls are now?

Even something like a Smasher or Ocean Currents that are a bit more rare, people who have them can just churn out book after book?

I'm more partial to transforming than copying. It would still open up a lot of new books and give value to currently useless scrolls.

This is a lousy idea, I do not support it. Scrolls should be scrolls. It's bad enough on Neopets where you have codestones and then codestone plushies and paint brushes and paint brush plushies. Scammers do not need any help.

Making scrolls into books will make many of them even more massively unaffordable than they are and will allow readers who do not fight to dictate how expensive battling can be. Battling is an exceedingly expensive little hobby, and doesn't particularly need to be made even more pricey. And this is after the reagent reform that removed many bottlenecks.

If you wanna add more books to the site, there's no reason more books couldn't be created by staff, and if you want more combine-able books on the site, the Alchove, Genetech, and Fantine all provide methods for doing it.
