I think a Rift colour would be a unique new colour. It makes more sense to me than a Peppermint colour or something.. at least Rift would have a lore-related background.

For the structure they could make the species look like they're from an electrical netherworld with teeth and tendrils and splitting or undulations of their anatomy where you least expect it.

Well, there's always still a possibility during the year for a Rift redraw colour! Perhaps if the Jaxian Morostide plot has a continuation this year, it might involve Rifts. Since the goal is to try and get Jaxon to be tangible year-round rather than just during the annual holiday. Might mean we have to break the dimensions of time and space a bit, at the cost of setting Riftborns loose!

I'm always surprised when I remember that Rift isn't a color - it looks amazing on the challengers, fits very well into Subeta's lore, and it's unique to Subeta - never seen anything like it on other pet sites!

This definitely needs to be a pet color. I don't understand why it isn't one already considering how unique it is to subeta...

I love the mutated suggestion, but also, I wouldn't mind if the Rift color had the Galactic poses, like what Harvest is to Glade...maybe a bit of both?? 😏

After skimming over the replies again, I really like the idea of rift pets as galactic pets except Wrong. If harvest pets are essentially what happens when you set a glade potion on fire then maybe rift pets can galactic pets that got corrupted somehow. They'd be using the same base pose as the Galactic pets, except visibly melting or with too many eyes on or something

Gonna voice my support for this yet again. I don't understand how subeta could come up with such an unique concept and NOT make it a pet color.

We have the graceful space pets with galactic, now please give us some space time monsters with Rift!

I'd rather see Rift have a unique pose rather than use Galactic as a base. I do like Harvest, believe me, I was a voucher for reusing the Glade poses for the colour. But I don't want to see that become the first go-to with a new redraw colour in the future. To me, it is kinda lazy.

This would be really cool, and I think far enough away from any other color as a concept and color pallet to be unique. I personally would not use the same base as galactic because I always feel like the color is whimsical and rift pets.... won't not be lol.

YES. A counterpart to galactic! Not just a recolour of galactic, but with some corrupt-ey stuff too. It definitely shouldn't be the default poses, because they're all too chill for a rift thing.

I think the way to get a rift pet could be to mess with the coda caves crystals in some way. Like throw them into the rift and back, and then they turn into "corrupted (colour here) coda caves crystal". Then you bring all colours of these messed up crystals to some shady cyberpunk person in lower ziara and they'll turn your pet rift. Or maybe the hustler could do it. Seems dodgy enough, and you wouldn't have to make a new npc. Like how galactic works, only you mess up the crystals first.

Or you could just skip the whole crystal thing and throw your pet itself into the rift.

I don't see it as intrinsically lazy. With Glade/Harvest, the original design was detail-dense enough that I'm pretty sure not having to come up with new poses in addition to changing all the spring/summer-y bits to autumn forrest-y bits was an act of mercy. Adding on the degree of warping/corrupting/eyeballs don't go THERE, Jesus! I'm envisioning would probably be enough to exempt these guys too.

That sounds pretty legit, even if the idea of pets being completely cavalier about their newfound eldritch horror status would be really appealing to me specifically. But I'm curious what alternatives you had in mind. I personally wouldn't want it to look too agonized because then I'd feel really bad about doing that to my pets. Meanwhile, Nightmare and Bloodred are kind of already filling the Overtly Scary/Aggressive niche and "Galactic pets except Edgy" appeals a lot less than "Galactic pets except Wrong." A lot of Graveyard and Darkmatter pets seem pretty chill, as a data point
