(ooc - sorry I disappeared. School is kicking my butt right now)

[img align=left]http://i.imgur.com/OtqwS8q.png[/img]After seeing Magnus transform, Beth had decided it was best to go outside for some fresh air. She had quietly entered and been standing in the corner. She walked up to Aderyn () and Millie (), "I'm feeling better now. Thanks for your concern."

"How are you feeling, Magnus?" ()

Magnus smiled at Beth. "Been better. You? Look a little peeky. Bob 'as some pepper up potion if you want some." He took a few slow breaths and tried his best to look merely tired and not in pain.

Aderyn blushed as Sam () complimented her.

"Thanks! That's the dream, anyway - to be a healer like my dad. I've been watching him since I was little, so I know a thing or two."

She glanced over at Beth () as the girl re-entered the room, smiling softly with a nod.

"I'm glad you're feeling better."

She held up the chocolate bar that Magnus hadn't felt up to eating.

"Anyone need a bit of a boost? I'm sure this will help."

As Magnus transformed back and the adults rushed in to administer healing magic and potions, Fade stepped back. Clutching his ribs he frowned. Fade was starting to feel the way he imagined his mother felt the summer when he broke his arm. Only comparing his own marginal suffering to what Magnus had to endure every full moon made him feel bad again. His brain was quite a bit too tired to formulate intelligible conversation, but if Magnus was going to linger down here for much longer Fade felt like he was going to lose it. He wanted nothing more than to see the other boy tucked into a soft bed, and to find a bed of his own. Covering a massive yawn with his sketchbook he tried his best to listen to what the other students had to say, even noticed Beth returning, but couldn’t think of what to say for himself. He was just glad the transformations were over for now.

Magnus felt a little bad about not wanting the chocolate Aderyn had offered but was not sure what else to say. He wasn't really at his best right now. Spotting Fade, he did try to wave but ended just calling the boy's name. "'Ey Fade, could you watch me cat for me?" he frowned at the thought of the coming potion. "Kippers comes down to nick me bacon in the mornings, so she'll be at the Gryffindor table. I'd do it meself, but Dad's not gonna allow that." He didn't bother looking at his father.

Bartley's lips thinned for a moment before he said, "And rightfully so. You have a lot of healing to do. Holding up okay, Fade?" He smiled at the boy and if his arms weren't full holding his son, he would have ruffled the boy's hair.

Paddy had been deep in thought for a few moments, thinking about Bartelby's suggestion that she should do something fun for the rest of the full moon. "I've decided how I'm going to spend the next evening," she said to Bartelby, "I'm not sure if you'd count it as fun but I'm going to take my pets and sit outside, staring at the full moon."

Noticing Fade trying to hide his yawn, Paddy plunged her hand into her pocket and drew out a chocolate frog. "I know Magnus won't want to eat this," she said, "so I thought you might benefit, as it's been such a long night."

He smiled at her, "that sounds like a great idea. I truly hope you enjoy it." Bart frowned for a moment, wondering if the freedom of the moon would taunt her.
Magnus gave Paddy a half smile. "I'm sweet enough as it is."

Magnus whimpered a little when he tried to move in his dad’s arms. Bartley decided it was time to get moving. Aderyn had already handed Bob the potion he required so when Bart nodded, he moved forward and when at their side pressed the vial to Magnus’ lips. Magnus tried to move his head away, not wanting the potion. He knew what it was.

“Come now,” his dad said soothingly, “take the potion, my little Gryffindor. You’ve done so well; now let me help take your pain away, please. There’s no need to be scared. You know I won’t harm you. You’re just going to sleep for a few days and you won’t feel the next transformations at all.”

Magnus wiped a tear from his eye. He was scared and in a lot of pain. But his dad’s soothing tone had a sense of pain in it too. Slowly, he opened his mouth and allowed the potion to be administered to him. It did not take long before he felt so tired that his eyes fluttered briefly and then he was deeply asleep. His arm slipped from his dad’s embrace and hung limply.

Bartley breathed a sigh of relief as his son succumbed. At least the boy was now out of pain. He then crossed over to Aria, bent down enough to kiss her forehead. “You be good now. Expect a parcel in the owl post. Might even send Magnus with something.” To the rest of the students he said, “Don’t worry, he’ll be fine. Going to get him healed up and as soon as the moon phase is over, I will give him the Wiggenweld Potion so that he will wake up and send him back to school. You children look after him won’t you?” Jim and Paul would wait behind and see the students off. Bob followed as Bartley said, “Until our paths cross again.” And he swept from the dungeon carrying the unconscious Magnus in his arms.

He looked gaunt from weight loss and a few places had shiny pink scars but otherwise he looked in good spirits. As the club members arrived it was obvious he was nervous though. “’Ey everyone. Dad told me what ‘append more or less… First, lemme say I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to make everyone so upset wif me transforming. If I thought it would’ve I wouldn’t’ve subjected you to it.” He looked down at the grass. He hadn’t expected that his pain would affect everyone the way it did. “Anyway, I know I said dragons were next, but mum threw a fit and flat out refused to let me cover them so soon after me being injured…”

Threw a fit was an understatement. When his father administered the antidote to the Draught of Living Death on the morning of the 4th day of his absence, he was horrified to learn that his parents had been talking of pulling him from Hogwarts. His injury scared them and he couldn’t really blame them but it took the better part of the day to convince them he should go back. “Dad wanted me to do a really nice and safe animal, like flobberworms. Thankfully, mum used some connections and got these,” he said and whistled a strange tune. Suddenly the sky was full of large shapes, which as they got closer could be seen as pure white winged horses.
“Dragons will be next, I promise. If I ain’t chucked from the club that is… Anyway, these ‘ere are Pegasus.” image from here They landed on the quidditch field around Magnus. “And as you can see, I got one for everyone to ride. They are very friendly. Thought you might want to play wif them and ask questions… and then maybe we could do a race or just fly about. That’s if anyone wants too…” his voice trailed off as his confidence seemed to falter. He felt so bad about the disastrous werewolf session that he didn’t think anyone would show up to the meeting if truth be told. In fact, he rather expected he’d be booted from being the captain, if not from the club entirely. And he didn’t think anyone would be particularly happy to see him after they calmed down from that night.

Aderyn was glad to get the note about the club meeting at breakfast - that meant Magnus was back, and she was relieved. Finishing up her breakfast, she tugged on Emmy's () robes, urging the girl to come along with her.

"Let's head out, I want to see what we're doing this morning!"

She tugged the other girl along, , rushing in her excitement. As they reached the pitch, Aderyn spotted Magnus () and waved.

"Alright there, Magnus?"

"I'm okay, you? he asked. "Thanks again for 'elping Bob 'eal me. It couldn't've been easy. Dad said it was scary for him." He frowned for a moment. "Its okay if you rather not speak wif me. I know everyone was really upset at the transformations and all so..." he expected everyone would rather not be around him.

Katsumi waved farewell to Mr. Bartley and the Unspeakable that left with him, though she lingered in the dungeon a bit to speak further with Paul. She was fairly sure he was American, or at least grew up there, and there were some things she wanted to ask him -- mostly about how he'd ended up working as an Auror in Britain, and a few about Ilvermorny. Still, it wasn't very long before the rush of adrenaline from the night's events took its toll, and the second year had to shuffle off to bed, bidding a sleepy good-night to the man.

Katsumi was among the first students to arrive at the next club meeting, making sure to show up almost half an hour early, partially in a bid to be there when Magnus arrived.  Regardless of success, the moment she saw the other student she approached him eagerly.  "Magnus!" she called, waving to get his attention.  "I'm glad you're back."  The girl's expression didn't look particularly glad, but she spoke the truth.  She was greatly relieved to see he was not /too/ much the worse for what had happened a few days prior.

"I wasn't really upset, but I do think it may have been an ill-advised decision," she said in response to Magnus' apology, her voice a touch on the sharp side, at least in comparison to normal.  "If you are going to apologize to anyone, it should be your father -- and yourself.  We may have learned a great deal, but forgoing the wolfsbane potion...I really don't think the gain was worth the cost to you and Mr. Bartley."  Her eyes narrowed slightly before she realized that she was being unkind.  "Forgive me, it's really not my place to be criticizing you, especially after what you've been through."  Katsumi had been worried about the Gryffindor, even though she knew he was in the best of hands.  Knowing something with your mind, and knowing it with your gut were two very different things, after all.

Emmy yawned as she ate her plate of sausages and eggs, nearly choking as Aderyn suddenly appeared behind her from the Ravenclaw table and tugged on her robes.

"Ack! Okay, one sec." she said, jamming one last piece of bacon into her mouth, taking a gulp of orange juice to wash it down, and wiping her face on her napkin. She got up and followed Aderyn out of the Great Hall, allowing her to lead her down to the Quidditch pitch. As soon as they entered, Emmy had the strong urge to summon her broom and do a few loops of the pitch, but she resisted.

She waved at Magnus too, as he approached.

"Sorry I wasn't around last week, I got pretty sick," Emmy said, once Aderyn and he had stopped talking. "Can't wait for pegasi though!" she said enthusiastically. She truly did love just about any creature, especially anything horse- or cat-like.

As she spoke, she noticed many of the winged horses fluttering in the air and some beginning to land around them. Resisting the urge to squeal in excitement and run at one of them, she began to walk calmly towards the nearest one, smiling and unafraid.

Magnus wasn't really sure what to make of the girl's comment. She sounded sincere though her expressions didn't really show him much of anything. "If bof me parents and three unspeakables were okay with me choice to do without wolfsbane, then I don't see why I should apologise to them," he said a little coldly, his accent getting thicker as he got upset. "I wanted to give everyone a chance to see what a real werewolf was like, not some 'alf tame thing. I knew the risks, as did they--I've 'ad like seventy two or more transformations since I was turned." The boy was trying not to get angry, he was normally an easy going kid. Then she apologised and emotion fluttered over Magnus' face. "'Tis okay, I shouldn't be mad either, sorry. I don't care what it cost me. I'm used to it. Just didn't fink anyone would be so upset watchin' me go through it is all. I thought I'd be giving everyone a treat, somefing rare that people don't getta see. Instead..." He shrugged and looked down at the grass.

He have the barest of half smiles to Emmy. "'S'okay means I traumatized one less person. Though I'm sorry you were ill." As she went up to the animal he said, "don't be afraid ta pet 'em, they love people. "

Aderyn giggled at Emmy's () indignation as Aderyn clearly inerrupted the other girl's breakfast. The two of them strolled off towards the pitch together, and held back just long enough to wave hello to Magnus, who despite looking a little gaunt seemed to be hanging in there okay.

Aderyn nodded sympathetically as Magnus () spoke.

"I'm fine! And don't worry about us - none of what happened has changed any of us. I was glad to help where I could. I'm sure you and your father will feel more normal again soon, too."

She smiled commiseratingly as Emmy talked about being sick, remembering how many times she'd had to bring Emmy pepperup potion to relieve some of her symptoms. Patting Emmy gently, her attention was turned to the pegasi that were suddenly descending from the sky. She gasped in awe and watched the herd touch down, hanging back nervously as Emmy went to pet one. She eventually tagged along, quickly finding her own pegasus to bond with and watching Emmy to see how the girl interacted with the creature.

When Umbra dropped a Care of Magical creatures Club note on her head at breakfast, Sam couldn't have been happier. Racing back to the Slytherin common room to grab her gear and broom she zoomed to the quidditch pitch as fast as her Starsweeper could go. Disappointed to see no sign of the promised dragon, she slowed down to spiral to a landing, next to Magnus as he was explaining the dragon's absence. "You don't need to apologize!" She exclaimed as she jumped from her broom to hug him. "And aint no one gonna chuck ya from the club! We learned more about the nature and power of werewolves in one night, than most folks do in a lifetime. 'Sides...," she added, as the winged horses landed around them. "Parents always get over protective when they think we're endangering ourselves. It'll blow over now that you're all healed up OK, as long as you're extra careful, and take the wolfsbane in plenty of time before the next change." She turned to look critically at a pegasus that was sniffing at the tail of her precious broom. "So, how do you ride these beasts?" she asked

He frowned for a moment. "I 'ope so, or I reckon Dad'll 'ave me put in a shield ward the rest 'o me life." The girls were inspecting the horses now and then Magnus was suddenly in hug. Still his mood improved almost immediately. He gave Sam a true half smile. "I fink if Mum could work out 'ow to move into the Gryffindor dorms, she would. Wouldn't stop fussin' over me and kept calling Bob 'round to make sure I was 'ealed before Dad apperated me ta 'Ogsmede this morning."
He smiled once more and then said, "I'll tell ya, if you tell me what your favourite school subject is and what you do on time off." As to the horses, he took Sam's hand with a slight blush and steered her to one. The horse lowered itself to their level. "Simply 'op on and move like you do on a broomstick. Mum borrowed 'em from the 'Oly 'Ead 'Arpies. They used them to practice Quidditch sometimes."

Sam grinned, and tugged at her hair - which was currently a violent purple dredhawk. "You mean other than doing stupid things to my hair?" She asked, reaching out to gently stroke the pegasus' shining white feathers. "I like to sneak into the forbidden forest, and just sit in a tree. Sometimes I chat with the wild snakes, there's a bunch of adders and a couple of grass snakes that just came outta hibernation, who have all kinds of questions about winter.
My favorite school subjects are magical creatures of course, and flying. I'm starting to like Charms and Transfiguration classes now that I'm getting good at them though."

"It would be so cool to talk to snakes like that," he said brightly. "I did think you'd say flying though." He pulled out a miniture Starsweeper from his pocket. "I managed to get mum to make this for me...er you. But you can't 'ave it yet. I'm gonna teach you 'ow to brew potions like you were on a broom, with this 'ere. See, might've been a little outta sorts, but I 'eard ya. Mum's got tons of charms on it too. Its gonna deliver your potion ingrediants into your cauldron and I'm gonna try to liken a potion to a Quidditch match. First potion you brew right, you get a candy bar. Second you get a present for Chua. And so on. Top present is this 'ere special one o' a kind working model of a Starsweeper." He let her hold it. Maybe it was a dorky idea but he was hoping he could help. He knew she was frustrated at potions. "Oh and was Freddie good for ya?" He was pretty sure Sam didn't bring the Alapca because dragons were supposed to be the animal to study.

Sam gaped in wonder at the model broom. She nodded mutely at Magnus' query about Freddy, and nearly sat on the patiently reclining pegasus, before finally managing to recall her vocal chords to reply. "Yeah. Good as gold. All the girls in the Slytherin common fight over who gets to snuggle with him on the big sofa. He's even house-broke now. Does his business on a piece of paper that one of the sixth-years magicked to absorb the mess and decompose it away."

Misunderstanding her, he said, "'S'okay if you don't like it... or wanna do it, was a daft idea. I can try to 'elp another way." He glanced at the miniature broom a little crestfallen but he smiled nonetheless and said, "that's great to 'ear. I'll 'ave to make sure 'e visits everyone and send 'em somefing to thank them as well. I didn't 'ave time to get anyfing to thank you yet cos o' me only being awake yesterday and most o' that was tryin' to get me folks to let me come back 'ere and then getting mum to make the wee broom."
