Yeah, I was not really a fan of the force romance thing. The first movie is definitely my favorite of the three, I feel like it was actually done really well and was pretty faithful to book except for the story line with the albino orc. I think that was something they pulled from Silmarillion or something else.
I read part of the first Twilight book, but it was so boring I couldn't really finish them. I have seen all of the movies though, it helps that the cinematography and stuff is actually decent so at least they looked nice. I haven't read Hunger Games yet, but I have the books so I probably will do that sometime soon. I have heard that though, about most of the last one being setup that doesn't make for a good movie.
LOL 50 Shades is just ugh, that entire thing is so dumb. I watched the movie but I haven't read the books and probably never will. Even the way that movie was shot and all feels very similar to the Twilight movies, and the dialogue and everything there is just as cringe-y and weird. Twilight actually did get pretty popular at one point though, even if the books themselves aren't that great, so I can see why they decided to try and make movies from them for the $$$.
I've not read Mortal Instruments, but I have heard similar things about those adaptations being not very good either. Maybe it's just difficult to make movie adaptations of books? It seems like more often than not, they aren't done very well. I would also like to see more original content for movies in general, instead of all of these book adaptations or remakes or reboots or continuing a series for 28475487 sequels.
To me it is, but it gets really sad at Chapter 21 (in the book). Same thing in the movie, but not sure exactly when it happens.
Im due to watch Doctor Who at the moment. Lets see which season I feel like watching...

I am behind on orphan black
Same here. Maybe 1 or 2 seasons behind?

Ah. I am just 3 episodes behind. My boyfriend has been catching up on game of thrones so we haven't had a chance to watch orphan black.
The first Hobbit was definitely my favorite as well.
The Twilight books go downhill after the first one (which is exactly as ridiculous as it sounds haha). You didn't miss much. I'm sure the cinematography was the bright spot in the other movies. The acting was so bad I couldn't handle it.
I haven't read the whole of 50 Shades, but I read a few passages when my roommate had purchased the book. The non-sex scenes were boring and painfully written, but the sex scenes were even worse. They were the least sexy things I've ever read haha. I'm not surprised the feel of 50 Shades was similar to Twilight since it did start out as a Twilight fanfic (and was SO much worse before there was some editing done).
With how far CGI and whatnot has come, I'd really like to see more animated adaptations of books instead of the live-action versions. I think those may come across a lot better than some of the pitiful live-action versions where there are budget constraints limiting how accurate the adaptation can be. But, I understand that a lot of people are not interested in animated movies. To each their own, I suppose.
Im behind on Game of Thrones too o-o. Been catchign up with Supernatural and Teen Wolf

LOL yeah, I'm sure they probably tried to fix it up a bit before they made the movie, for 50 Shades that is. But even that didn't help that mess much. I've seen a few of the passages floating around online, and it's not surprising after seeing the movie because seriously the dialogue in that was so bad. I just don't understand how this particular fanfic managed to get so popular, there are others that are so much better.
I think that's an interesting idea with the animated movies. But you're right, it seems like there is still a lot of stigma that animation and cartoons are for children. I wish that could break though, animated movies for adults/older teens and stuff could be really fun.
I guess another thing they could do for book adaptations would maybe be TV series like Game of Thrones, or if the books aren't that long perhaps a 5-10 part miniseries alternative. It still might not always work, but it might be easier to control the pacing and stuff.
They tried to readapt the Mortal Instruments series for TV. Still didn't work, but I think a large part of the problem is that it's on a cable network and not HBO or Starz or online on Netflix/Hulu/Amazon Prime. Because cable networks are just looking for Nielson numbers, I think it's harder for them to do decent adaptations, especially since the actors age so quickly even though they may be the same age in the book(s) for several installments.
Hayao Miyazaki did a damn good job of proving that animated movies aren't just for children, and James Cameron has shown the power of CGI in creating a complete world. It's definitely become more acceptable, but it'll be a while before it catches on. It's getting more and more realistic, so it would definitely be a cool technology to use so the author's characters can come to the screen as true to the original source material as possible.
Miniseries are a good idea. I think those are so underutilized. Or maybe in the same format as the Sherlock TV show on BBC One where the seasons (series) are shorter but the individual episodes are longer so they're able to flesh out a much better story.
That's true, it seems like a lot of the really popular and well-made stuff right now is coming from those special TV services. I still haven't seen a lot of them, but I hear good things.
Yeah, it would be nice for it to start catching on a bit more. Maybe with our generation it will? Lots of people around my age and a bit older don't seem mind watching animated stuff, but people like my mom tend to still be of the opinion that cartoons = kids only (or like "family" shows that you can watch with your kids, but still mostly for kids).
And yes, the Sherlock format is pretty interesting, each episode is pretty much like a mini-movie anyway. I just wish it wouldn't take so long in between each season or whatever, but I guess part of that has to do with how many other things the two leads have going on.
Hey everyone! How have u been?
I'm quite working too much so I'm not enjoying the website that much.
Talking about Pokémon, unfortunately in my country I don't have any gamestop, I was wondering if someone could give me a code for Darkrai <3

With such busy leads, it's pretty impressive that they're still able to do the show. :) My parents are definitely in the no-animation camp, but they could be open if it were really well done I think.
I would, but I don't even have the means to get to GameStop myself. Good luck!
Congrats on the potion lotto win! Saw your name on the news page and was surprised I actually recognized a winner :)
a friend bought me some mega tickets and I lucked out :p thanks!
That's the way to do it! Must have been a nice surprise haha
I forgot about the mega tickets and was confused briefly. sucks it wasn't an angelic potion but oh well :p
That is true. Wasn't the next season supposed to be released this year? I thought I heard something like that, but I haven't heard anything in a while and haven't actually checked for myself because I've had other stuff going on.
Congrats on the potion win!
Also loving the experiment pet revamp, I almost want one now. __
thank you!
I do think it looks better. I'd probably change a couple things about it but I do like it better
