Refresh the page once every five minutes when you're allowed. vs. Clicking a button 50+ times to buy the same cheap item 50+ times when it is intended to be clicked and used once, refreshed, and given a new price + item.

Yeah, totally the same thing.

What would actually be similar ? Being able to mass-click the "dance with/kiss X user" and being able to dance with/kiss them multiple times before your timer is up.

Being able to have a stationary item to possibly grab, instead of a randomized position. vs. Clicking a button 50+ times to buy the same cheap item 50+ times when it is intended to be clicked and used once, refreshed, and given a new price + item.

Yeah, totally the same thing too !

What would actually be similar ? Being able to mass-click the random item and receiving multiples of the items when only one is intended to be given.

(Omg my post is so long lol sorry) So...are we assuming that this glitch is common knowledge? Cause I have been participating in the event and honestly I don't have a single clue. Is it just the fact that the MB had items from the baked goods store and people were buying from the MB for the competition, or is it the way that people purchased items? I'm skimming through pages and I am not seeing a clear explanation, unless if I just totally missed it.

But regardless, what is bothering me is that I'm getting the vibe that only Team Sticky is taking the heat and being blamed for abusing this glitch. Why target only Team Sticky? I'm sure there are people from Teams Mischief, BFF, Nature, and Sibling, that have done the same thing. That said, I am not saying that if all teams abuse this glitch, then it is okay. It's one thing if a person was abusing a glitch unknowingly but ultimately reported it upon realization. It's another thing if people know they are abusing a glitch but continue to do so anyway. It's wrong. I'm just feeling bad for Team Sticky being singled out, regardless if they win or not.

I'm on Team BFF and after they showed results so soon, it was kind of a feeling for the remaining three teams that there is no chance for first. But you know what? I'd imagine that people from Teams BFF, Nature, and Sibling had fun anyway. There were times when BFF and Nature were neck-and-neck for third place and I found that to be fun. Even if my team did not place in the top three, I would still admit that I had fun, even though I was not able to donate nearly as much as some of the other people on my team.

The point I'm getting at? It's a dang shame that people have to get so hostile with all these events. Sure, it's a competition and I get that people get competitive. But events on the site are meant for us users to have some fun. The only time it's a bummer for me personally is when the site lags out and we get errors. But even the "dreaded" music festival/wishing shrub was fun in my possible unpopular opinion. Idk, I just don't get the drama and maybe I'm simply easily amused? And it was very transparent about how items would be distributed, so I don't think they should turn around and make exceptions by giving runner-ups something more than what was originally stated. Even if my team was in second place, I wouldn't want staff to do that because it's totally clear. Everyone who has participated is already going to receive a participation prize, ice skin, and a dang pet slot, is that not enough? Trophies are cool and all, but I'm pretty ecstatic and thankful that we are receiving all of this.

Because winning.

Like you, I am 100% sure there was the same proportion of users cheating on all teams. People are just not going to go and admit to it on the forums. But staff knows who did it, and it's statistically improbable that everyone doing it was on the same team

posting of the team scores before the end was a bad move: I think it&;s good to be able to see our individual scores so we can track our individual progress, but seeing the team scores and how much further ahead teams mischief and sticky were than the others undoubtedly discouraged many members of other teams from donating more after the first day.

I think the biggest factor there was the prize structure. They could fight amongst themselves for third place, but what's the point if there's no prize? This is why we need prizes for the top teams, not just first place. Even if they're just trophies.

I agree, a lot of people on the other teams lost hope pretty quickly once scores were revealed. I'm not supporting item prizes and forum titles for everyone, but I do feel like all of the participants should at least get a trophy of some sort.

- I think you're misunderstanding the situation. The MB glitch was that there is a hash check in place (that string of letters that the dance links have), but rapidly clicking the "buy" button let people get around that.

The MB hash expires after a single purchase, which is why if you refresh you get the "Oh dear! You'll have to try again" message. Getting around that and buying 100 copies of a single item in seconds... that's exploiting a glitch.

probably you are right and I misunderstood.. and I have a reason, when I asked about the "code" that day people explained to me that what it's doing is merging the 2 buttons and in a single click you buy and refresh for a new item at the same time..

- The css thing just moved the "buy" button to the same place the "back" button would be after you buy, so you don't have you move your mouse. It's still two separate clicks and two page loads, which is how the MB is meant to be used. Moving the button is on the same level as using CSS for floating goodie bags and things, so there's nothing shady there.

So just throwing out an idea, but would people get pissy if staff gave everyone a trophy? Yes, they're altering what they said the win scenario would be, but it's not like it's an item or anything. I like trophies as a reminder of all the fun events I've been in, and would personally love one.

Staff could take the same art that's being used for the snowmen in Peka Park. Give 1st place a multicolor'ed tone/shading, 2nd is gold, 3rd silver, 4th bronze, 5th, bronze(?).

Ah, yeah, that'd be much better. Difficult trying to come up with 5, rather than 3.

now I understand, thank you! :) So I can say that it's wrong.. but there's nothing to do anymore.. just to move on and to learn for this for future events..

I'd be happy if we all got trophies that depicted our team's snowman. Just as a reminder of the event. If not, no big deal.

I'm firm in the belief that items pulled from the MB that day should be removed from the scores completely. I pulled a bunch earlier in the day(not in the abused way, legitimate) and I wouldn't even be mad if those were deleted from my score. No one can say either of the lead teams would be where they are without those points, but I'm not giving any props to a team who spent the day cheating and not reporting anything.

For what it is worth, I really enjoyed this event. I didn't know anything about the MB happenings until it was well over. It makes sense why suddenly there was such a HUGE gap in the teams after that day, but I guess I still had fun giving this my all. I like item drives and I like team challenges. I'm sad that it turned sour for some of you all.

I'd have loved to place in this challenge, but my team has been wonderful, and we've put a ton of work into it. I enjoyed my closest competitor team (BFF) who has been nothing but kind and great competitors to go up against for third.

So... I guess some of us still had fun and I'd like to thank the staff for this, even if it didn't turn out how everyone had hoped. :)

I'm not totally sure, but i think the "glitch" is that you could click super fast on the buy button in the MB and get multiples of that item by the dozen or more. I guess only two teams really knew about it or one of them really took advantage of that ability and smashed the numbers that day? I'm not clear on that but that's what I'm getting from friends in various teams who have read up on it more. :)

Yeah, Stickers spent the day abusing the glitch. Sharks caught on in the last hour or so of the day.

I just want to say how proud I am of Team Nature. Our board is still full of people who are giving it their all to the very end. Are we going to win? No. Are we still having fun? Absolutely. Shit has clearly gone down between Mischief and Stick.

Also huge shout out to Team BFF. We have been going back and forth for 3th place, and I think both teams have been huge sports about it. Gifting snowballs to each other and making friendly comments on each other's boards. I truly believe the 3 bottom teams have demonstrated how staff wanted this event to go, and I am proud to be on one of those teams. I am proud that all three teams will be losing with dignity.

My thoughts on the event so far is, that staff really needs to make sure that glitches are not going to happen in whatever part of the site can be used for an event. I am not going to say that one team is a cheater or another. The way this was handled is the problem for me.

Be clear on things, double and triple check every area of the site that can be used during events like this, if a glitch happens, announce it and fix it fast so that it cannot be abused more. Being clear and open with us is the main problem.

As for the prizes thing, I am fine with whatever I get that was stated at the start of the event. I am on Team Nature and had fun either way with what little I did manage to do (sorry, guys!) and to me, I'd rather have a trophy and the wearable for joining the team than anything. I think the trophy system is a nice part of the site that tends to get neglected. I looked at the ones I had the other day and remembered playing during them or what I did. That means more to me than some pet slot or anything. I'd rather have the memories of being on the site and participating then anything else.
