Yeah, it's an exploit, if you can get thousands of items in a matter of minutes when you couldn't get that amount in the same time via questing or restocking. Even buying from user shops would take longer. So yeah, it was a glitch / exploit.
The Peka fest was like ... two years ago. Definitely not too soon. Subeta, hire me. I will work for pixel items.
But yeah, I think another music festival would be great, but take out the whole competing and voting aspect because BIAQUARIOUS SHOULD HAVE WON DAMN IT AND WE DIDN'T EVEN PLACE not that I'm bitter or anything 8D
bird and bear and hare and fish give my love her fondest wish
Hahaha. Yeah, I was joking. I still remember the NEVER ANOTHER MUSIC FESTIVAL NEVER OMG THAT WAS TERRIBLE NEVER EVER AGAIN! comments. xD
I would like another music festival. I thought the idea was fabulous, even though the execution needed a lot of tweaking.
I know what event we need next. Something centered around art therapy. Coloring books are all the rage now Because we could all use some after all the event mishaps. :'D /shot
I was just clarifying my statement too :) I don't personally need the cheering up. I just get bothered by things like this, but I'm not too upset. just something I feel should have gone differently.
Art therapy? You mean like...sculpting and decorating snowmen?

Things I agree with that have been mentioned on this topic:
Trophies for all teams: Members of all teams worked really hard and it would be nice if everyone could have a permanent memento from events that is tied to their account. :)
staff handling of the situation has been disappointing: I understand there might not be much staff can do after the fact...but I don't like the attitude of denying that it was even a glitch.
posting of the team scores before the end was a bad move: I think it's good to be able to see our individual scores so we can track our individual progress, but seeing the team scores and how much further ahead teams mischief and sticky were than the others undoubtedly discouraged many members of other teams from donating more after the first day.
What I don't agree with on this topic (and have seen discussed on other topics) and think is BS: The singling out of Team Sticky.
I've seen complaints that team sticky is only ahead for abusing the glitch and that is just not true. We pulled ahead before any mentions of possible mystery box exploitation
(to give proper credit, these numbers were taken from one of pumpkin's posts)
Then there’s also how we've pulled ahead again, an even bigger lead this time, without it being mystery box day. Personally, I've earned over 12000 and I didn't exploit the glitch. I also know that lots of members of my team have done far better than that without exploiting the glitch. We're not winning just because of a glitch.
Even if there were some members that exploited the glitch, it wasn't just on our team. All teams exploited it to some extent.
There's no concrete reason for thinking team sticky somehow benefited unfairly more from the glitch than others. I've seen it said that sticky had access to information about the glitch sooner, so it must have been exploited by us for longer and so this makes it more unfair...but that...isn't true? Seriously. Earliest mentions of the potential glitch abuse in the sticky thread are less than two hours before midnight....what seems to be the actual first mention of the possibility of abusing the mystery box occurred in a different team's topic several hours earlier. The post, for anyone curious:
So yeah, that was just out there for anyone to see. (not going to mention the exact thread that's from since I don't want to add any more fuel to the fire in this stupid blame game people have been playing of "who could have potentially-kinda-sorta-possibly exploited it more")
Even if you can find an earlier post than that, arguing about forum mentions of the glitch are ultimately pointless since people were probably exploiting it even before reading about it on forums. Forums are a poor way to judge overall team behavior since so many members don't even bother to use the forums much (even though I do lurk some, as of this post I haven't actually posted in my team's thread at all). I'm sure there are plenty of people that used the mystery box even before the 3rd and it's absurd to think that no one had ever come across this glitch before the event. For me the real problem (more than any contest unfairness) that this whole situation highlights is that users don't feel comfortable reporting glitches / feel like they'll just be ignored if they do report a glitch...and I can't say they're wrong for feeling this way. The proof is in that post. That was out there for hours, had pinged Amber, and still no staff response until much later when people started making a stink over team sticky.
lol I see what you did there except a little less of this
and a little more rainbows and sunshine and justice :'D
this does not make it okay. I don't care who exploited it, it is wrong. Acknowledgment from the staff that something like this is wrong would make me a lot happier about the incident, but so far it seems like "oh they paid for it, doesn't matter"
if this happened in the avalanche emporium that has a solid time limit on it... or even the MC. this would clearly be wrong, would it not? staff only saw that this was an issue when pointed out that on apothecary day, this could lead to a huge amount of boosters going out. why do we draw the line at boosters?
Sorry if I was unclear. I didn't mean it to sound like that makes it ok. I said that to point how it's not cool how people have been singling out team sticky.
I'm not sure if you did or not, I admit to skimming things. I just want to make it clear that dismissing it because each team is guilty of doing it is not the approach I would like to see taken on this.
No, team sticky doesn't deserve to get singled out, though they may or may not have benefited the most from it, I am not sure and I don't know if anyone can be sure about that.
tbh the biggest cheating is the auto-refresh, it has been an issue at every event, I still don't understand why they are not doing the same thing as they did with dancing, kissing etc., I'm talking about the exclusive links per action that after a while it expires and you need to click again to get a new one..
Let's be honest, no one here could throw 20k+ snowballs last year without auto-refreshing.. it's just impossible..
the MB is not even a glitch or cheating.. it's on the same level of the customSC of the floating items, the "slots" button and even the ads remover.. it's just makes the game a little bit easier according to the rules and the possibilities that the staff gives to us.
I've only read halfway through page two so far, but like damn next time there's a glitch that we can get away with using can someone let me know?
The MB itself is not cheating, if it is used the way it is meant to be used. The exploit people found and used absolutely was an exploit.
If it wasn't, staff wouldn't have fixed it as soon as they knew about it. Which they did. "Making the game a little bit easier" doesn't excuse exploiting a glitch. I do feel this way about autorefreshers and I feel that allowing them, or at least not cracking down on them, leads to this kind of rationalization/slippery slope.
there's a program you can download where you can pretty much highlight all of the links you want to open and it opens them all or something like that. so you can donate them all without using autorefresh, but you're using a different program.
are you talking about the right MB glitch? if you click the buy button a bunch it would buy multiples of the same item. that way you could get hundreds of items in just a few minutes. this is not how the mystery box was intended to work.
This is against the rules. but I'm talking about hmm for example, you open a new tab to dance with someone so the link have a lot of letters and number and at some point this links expires and you need to click on dance again.. so this should be work in events like that, this time at the snowballs shop, every purchase have individual link instead of 30 seconds waiting time.. so no more auto-refreshing to buy millions of snowballs while you sleep.
about the MB It's still not a glitch or abusing the rules, there isn't a rule that forbid you to move the position of a button. Every button here can be moved to a different position.. it's nobody's problem that the staff didn't think about forbidden it before to the MB..
I read about this "glitch" on the forum but I didn't even think about it as glitch but more like something that I can do and I'm allowed to do (again, there isn't a rule that forbid it) but still I didn't use it because I'm really suck with the sCode.. I only have the floating items one..
I know what you're talking about, the expiring links :) we honestly just need events that don't focus on doing something so many times.
the css isn't part of the glitch, it's clicking on the button very quickly and getting many of the same exact item in a short period of time. when you buy something from the mystery box, the next item you buy is different, but if you click fast enough, you cause it to give you the same item. it is a glitch. you're getting a large amount of items in a short period of time instead of actually doing how the mystery box is supposed to work where you click, page reloads with a different price and item. I doubt anyone spam clicked to get a bunch of the 15k items in the mystery box.
I know what it's doing, but like I said it's on the same level as the floating items sCode.. you are suppose to search for the on the page and not to "make it easy" and display them on the top.. but we still can do it.. but it's not how it supposed to work.. The MB glitch became a glitch and an issue only when the boosters where mentioned.. this is the only reason why the fixed it.. if not the boosters I promise you that it would be ok just like anything else..
If it isn't a glitch, why can you not just refresh on the page where you buy the item? It gives you an error instead. Changing layouts and where things appear is different than introducing a bunch of new items into the system that should not be there as quickly. If it is a glitch for boosters, it is a glitch in general. Boosters don't have a special set of rules pertaining to them.
