Thank you for all the answers and insight, I really appreciate it a lot!! I do not have a kindle but I will ask my sister if she can help me figure out how to get the app on my computer somehow. IDK if I will be able to read it on my computer, but we will see (I usually dislike reading from my pc).

🍪 I used to have a google based book app and have read many of the free classics already. lol I will try downloading the app for sure because my sister has it on her phone and has tons of books. I really want to read more Stephen King books so I am jealous of your current reading selection! What kind of horror does Dean Koontz write? ^.^ Do you (or anyone) know if kindles use LCD screens? If they are I cannot use them, all LCD screens (and LED and fluorescent lights) give me extremely horrible migraines (so I can relate somewhat to you getting them). I actually have to use a special projector to view my computer, can't use a regular computer (or laptop) monitor. lol :P

I usually prefer hard copy books but my library has slim pickings at best.

Dean Koontz is quite similar to Stephen King, he has written a lot of books over the years, he lives in California. I have just finished reading the Odd Thomas series, they were really good, but he tends to ramble a bit you know? philosophise, instead of getting on with the story lol. As for the Kindle, i looked it up here>> http://www.healthguidance.org/entry/15903/1/Kindle-Screens-and-Your-Eyes.html The paperwhite which I have got uses 4 tiny LEd lights in the bottom to see better, the basic kindle has no light, the screen is what they call e-ink, which is supposed to be exactly the same as reading paper books,there is no mention of LCD screens,but i notice LCD screens for replacement on Ebay, so they may be, all I can say as a long time migraine sufferer, is that I cant read on a normal tablet, or my phone, but with the kindle I have read for hours with no problem. the main beauty of them is that you can have hundreds of books on them and keep them in your bag or even a big pocket, the battery lasts for weeks and weeks. they are a godsend on holiday, or if your in bed poorly. Sorry for hijacking the thread! Everyone have a drink and some snacks now.

I'm not sure what the Kindles use honestly. I have an old Kindle which I don't use anymore. But it doesn't light up at all. But text usually always stays on it. Even when the battery is dead. Don't know if newer ones do the same thing. Looking at the ones that don't light up, the cheapest one and the paperwhite, I would say no...but I could be wrong. I would totally recommend contacting amazon and asking them. They should be able to help. I personally read on my ipad with a black background and white text. Otherwise I get headaches from reading on it. The same used to be said for me being on the computer too, but new glasses for me that help block out blue light have helped. But some of that has to do with my job too since I actually have to stare at a screen to do color correcting on people's photos.

Yep, pretty much how I feel about it. I also don't find it very befitting to excuse people who have children. I understand if they are disabled or have another legit reason but having a child should not be an exclusion for jury duty.

Also, I have no clue how a telephone standby summons would work. Sounds a lot like torture and does not sound like it is worth it.
