Happy New Year!! I live in a huge Vietnamese area and I miss celebrating Lunar New Year with my friends. Most of them are gone from going to school and such. I still have a lot of my red envelopes I've gotten.

I am in the same boat as you. I am in a new state and most people don't celebrate the way I would with my family. I will however have noodles for dinner tonight.

Enjoy them! When my friend comes home I always ask how long she is staying and if I can come over for dinner. XP I'm white and I've been getting better at cooking different dishes from different countries but it's still not as good as "Mom's Cooking" haha

Lol it never will be. I am a mix. My mother is German and native american while my dad is Chinese and Irish. So my grandmothers dishes are something I can try to cook but will never be the same. It comes from cooking them over and over for years. But you will get a dish you are good at. Everyone does. My best friend is Filipino and somehow I am wiz at cooking flip dishes.

nice! My mom is 100% Finnish and she wants me to cook instead of her now. So it works out. I've gotten pretty good at an Asian Beef dish.

That's awesome. All asian dishes have staples but the cooking methods are different on the culture. I think that is super cute that you celebrate the new year though. I have lots of friends of different ethnic backgrounds that find it silly that I do, or feel its not a real holiday.

If it's something that you celebrate then it should be embraced :) I was confused at first but I got into it and I find it to be pretty awesome.

I love that <3 When I was in grade school my best friend was of course a family friends child (The way it works in asian culture) and her mom helped me with it. My mom has always celebrated it but didn't know a whole lot. So she taught me and ever since I have done the whole thing for my friends and work mates. Its fun for me.

I know!!! I'm hoping it's really fun this year. I had an older account when the first Zombie Event started and I've been looking forward to Valentine's ever since. Last year's felt a little eh, but maybe it will be like a build up to this years?

Omg it's so interesting to find out where you guys are from or where your parents are from :D actually suggested a thread with questionnaire type things where we answer questions about ourselves (interests, hobbies, favourite things etc) so we can get to know each other better! I think it's a great idea.

- I hadn't thought about it before, but it totally is o.o. Also, I used to live on the bottom floor of a house, and because of how things work here with hills and all, part of my floor was the basement/laundry room. The floor of the basement wasn't finished, so there were patches of dirt everywhere, and I used to joke that I hid the bodies there lol. Kissing people is so much nicer than stealing their organs, though. reads through what she just typed I'm so glad there's context because otherwise I'd sound like a freaking sociopath.

I laughed so hard at this. Only because it is something I would say. Something along the lines of my harvest should be sprouting soon. I planted people.... That is super creepy though. On the flip side of that I really cant wait for the weekend so we can start the event.
