thought the mad libs was hilarious and wanted to join in
'Twas the second before Christmas, and all through the hut, Not a creature was stirring, not even a flamingo. The smocks were hung by the card table with care, In hopes that St. Jennifer soon would be there.
The children were nestled all snug in their refrigerators, While visions of sugar-avocados danced in their shoulder blades. And enemy in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap, Had just settled down for a long winter's nap.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, I sprang from the desk to see what was the matter. Away to the window I flew like a flash, killed open the shutters, and scrubbed up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow, Gave the luster of mid-weekend to objects below. When, what to my wondering eyes should appear? But a lovable bottle cap, and eight tiny rats.
With a little old driver, so lively and embarrassing, I knew in a moment it must be St. Jennifer. More rapid than penguins his rats they came, And he whistled, and rolled, and called them by name; "Now, Dasher! Now, Al! Now, Butter Knife and Vixen! On, Baby! On Butterfly! On, Belt and Blitzen! To the top of the porch! To the top of the toothbrush! Now snort away! Snort away! Snort away all!"
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof, The prancing and pawing of each little hoof. As I drew in my hand, and was turning around, Down the card table St. Jennifer came with a bound.
His eyes -- how they bathed! His dimples, how sharp! His collar bones were like decks of cards, his uvula like an eggplant parmesan!
He spoke not a word but went straight to his work, And filled all the smocks, then turned with a jerk. And laying his knuckle aside of his eyebrow, And giving a nod, up the card table he rose.
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a crackle, And away they all flew like the down of a thistle. But I heard him exclaim, as he drove out of sight, "Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good second!"

... Wow, way to make everything sad, man.
We've got a very special ornament, which is just an average-sized golden bauble, but for some reason I don't even remember already it goes onto the tree first and is taken off the last. :) Just a weird family thing.
Now we also buy 1 new ornament a year. This year it's this silly guy:

I like to think these cuties are the Elephant's child and Kolokolo bird from How the Elephant got its trunk. :)
Just showing off my sweater :) and I don't really have any fave ornaments but my mom has some that make me warm and fuzzy. I actually bought a new tree this year and new ornaments.

I haven't been home with my parents for Christmas in too long, I hardly remember our ornaments unfortunately x__x Right now I just have baubles, and I don't even have a real tree :P

Showing off my sweater :D
My family hasn't done ornaments in a good many years, since my parents retired. They're snowbirds now, so they're always in Florida for Christmas! We do visit them, but all their ornaments are back home.
However! The first year we did a Florida Christmas, my parents tried to get a tree. They'd waited too long though, so all the big tall ones were taken, and they were left with the saddest little Charlie Brown tree that you've ever seen. Literally four or five branches, maybe two feet tall, and if you hung anything more than tinsel on the poor thing it would topple right over. So now we have a tradition of getting those sad little trees on purpose XD
My favourite ornament is my baby's first Christmas one :) It's pink, and that's all I remember. It's been a good five or six years since I've seen it, at least. It was tradition that my brother and I each had to put our first-Christmas baubles on ourselves!
Yeah I am having trouble remembering the ornaments exactly, but I like sentimental ones that my siblings and I have had forever. I know there are some rocking horses and weird star things that are important for my sisters. The arts and crafts from where we were like 6 are also great XD
Currently my only ornament on my tree is a Taylor Swift guitar which a friend got for me XD
My parents used to have a whole bunch of the hold ornaments from the 50's and 60's. We had the ones that you had to put over a light for the little blades inside to turn. We also had one that chirped like a bird and my dog I had growing up would bark like crazy at the tree.
Now I have all of my kids ornaments that they make at school. They of course don't go with my theme, but they have to go on the tree.
I also have my Tim Horton's coffee mug I put on the tree. Gotta have a small piece of home on my tree.
My favourite Christmas decoration right now is a wooden Advent Calendar I bought from Costco like five years ago. I bring it to work now and use it to decorate my desk.
It's really pretty and you put up a new ornament every day. And I think it's one of those Costco things that was there one year and has not been seen again, so it feels even more special because it's fairly unique, at least to me/people around me.

Thank you for the minions and knickknack!
I do have a favorite! I have a beaded alligator that was made in Africa and it is the only ornament that I feel must be on my tree each year.
ALLIGATORS GO OM NOM NOM NOM NOM (okay, I may be 32 but I still do this, complete with smacking both my arms together like a giant mouth, whenever I put this ornament on the tree hahahaha)
Thank you CF for the gift. So glad you liked my use of the "ugly" sweater :D
I tried to take a picture of a couple of my favorite ornaments but I just could not get them to not be blurry. :( But what they are are glass ornaments that represent to us my grandparents ( my mom's parents). One is a gray haired and mustached old man in a suit with a hat for my grandfather. Looks quite like him and my pappy was of a time where he never went out without a tie. :) And the other is a glass ornament of the Queen of Hearts with all the suits represented on her dress. That's my nana. One of her favorite things was her weekly card game with "the girls". The "girls" were the same women she played cards with when my mom was growing up and was still playing with when I was a young adult. She still said she was playing cards with "the girls". lol I will keep trying to capture a picture. :) But they sit prominently together (of course) in the front of our tree.

my favorite ornament is the pickle we bought one year (not a real pickle). We try to find it after one hides it. The one year I hide it, no one could find it. I also have areal bird nest, and a antique ornament thats super delicate.

Thanks CF...I too can not do haiku's , but give me a cookie any time. I will take care of that for you no problem!
I did mine with syllables instead of words - hope that's ok!

Wrapped under the Christmas tree
Fleeting happiness
Cookies are better though. Always cookies.

Dinner is all picked out for tonight, I don't bake pies, I bake cupcakes and cookies. That is about as much of a skill set I own. lol And as for a clean house, well it was...yesterday...then the kids decided it shouldn't be clean anymore. :P
I see CF has a sense of humor. lol House still needs some cleaning. Need to grocery shop and start food prep and I have one treat to make yet. Oh and presents need wrapping. I think maybe some time Wednesday we can have some relaxation. But then again because of days off work we're celebrating Christmas Eve on Wednesday and Christmas on Thursday.
