"Mum's the word," Magnus said with a mock grimace, "don't hurt me." He understood well enough that if he'd been working on something so hard and then found others thinking along the same line he'd be freaked too. Besides he wanted to help not spoil her surprise. He looked at Sam's face, sure she sounded like she was playing it off but he didn't believe it was a hundred percent fake. "I can teach you 'ow to draw if you like. Some o' its not too 'ard."

((OOC: I can't draw so lol I'm not gonna be any real use for the cool plans on that front))

"Oh, I see!" said Emmy, smiling up at . "I have an owl too, a little weensy one. Hang on, you can meet him."

She whistled a four-note tune, one that she had trained Elfie to listen to. The little owl must have fluttered off while she was paying attention to the cats. In seconds, she heard his little wings flapping wildly and he zoomed into view, hooting happily. In seconds he had reached her and she caught him, his feathers ruffling, hooting excitedly at her, perfectly content in her hands.

"This is Elfie,"she laughed, showing him to Paddy. "He's a bit excited today."

Paddy couldn't help laughing when she saw Emmy's tiny owl, "Elfie is definitely over excited! I'm not sure if he's met Mouse yet, as I think she was with the larger owls." She gave a low whistle and waited for Mouse to fly across - having a larger wingspan, she was able to glide majestically instead of having to flap like crazy, but landed on Paddy's shoulder looking at Elfie as if she wasn't quite sure if he was an owl or not. "I'm surprised that Mouse doesn't mind all those cats, but then I guess if she doesn't mind a werewolf, there probably isn't much that would freak her out."

(OOC: that sounds like a brilliant idea - I completely stink at drawing animals though! 😊)

((OOC: No worries about the drawings! The idea still moves forward. I should be able to post some stuff Sunday or next week. ALSO: I moved the new creatures to study to next week so we can work creatures in 2-3 week sessions :D))

Gaia stopped mid walking realizing what day is today. She was so focus on everything she completely forgot today. Then an idea struck; pulling out her wand she charmed an empty table to the center of the club area and got some small boxes out of her bag. She then cast a spell for balloons, plates, and napkins to show up on the table. Then walked towards the castle in a hurried way. A girl on a mission taking with her () Ethel for help.

The girls returned a few minutes later. Gaia carrying a box of cupcakes and Ethel wand out hovering a cooler in mid air with cups under her other arm. They set up the table and Gaia called for club attention. "Hello everyone! I had almost forgotten I had asked the house elves to bake us a cake." Gaia blushed something she doesn't do often. "Today is my birthday! Since I am away from home I figured we could throw a small get together party here! We have chocolates and candies, Pumpkin, Apple, and orange juice, water, some sodas, and tea! There is also birthday cake and this box over here" Gaia pointed at the box with different compartments "inside are the treats for your pets! I figured it would be fun for us and a break away from school stress!" Gaia turned and high five Ethel. She couldn't believe she almost forgot about her birthday.

Help out with an impromptu birthday celebration?? Heck yeah! Ethel leaped to assistance, brandishing her wand with a flourish and working with Gaia to set up the party. "What a great idea," she cheered. "Nothing makes a birthday party more special than sharing it awesome people and awesome critters!"

It was time to work on new creatures and put together a guide to caring for pets. That meant there was work to be done. Gaia began to fix chairs in front of her table and moved her table further back. She figured a makeshift stage would work well for what we will be doing now. Concentrating Gaia waved her wand sideways and in a circle and quietly said "stage!" and a small stage appeared. Pleased with herself she put two chairs on the stage and a small white screen she had borrowed from one of the teachers in the hut. It was a small-ish screen but it was great for having some images up for everyone to see; busying herself with putting images up and some important points before addressing the group.

"Hello everyone! Welcome to this session of the Care of Magical Creatures Club. It is getting colder so it is most likely this will be our last session outside, but do not worry, I am in talks with Professor Sparks see if we can have a dungeon classroom enchanted to simulate the forbidden forest for us!" Gaia grinned while everyone gathered around expectantly. "If you can all take a seat and bring your pets with you, leave them in their area, or take them up to the castle. We will begin this session with a small portion of a question and answer. As many of you might have noticed we had some excitement last session around the time of the full moon." Gaia paused for a moment. "I assume you all know the difference between an animagus and a werewolf?" Unsure Gaia explained anyways "A animagus is a person that can transform into an animal at will; a werewolf is a person who was bitten and has no choice but to transform during a full moon."

"These here" Pointing with her wand to the screen "are a few drawings of werewolves or lycanthropes." Gaia looked at Magnus and Paddy "Did I say that right? Anyways" looking at the screen words started showing as if someone was just writing them. "These are some facts of what is known about werewolves. Take a look and read them over while our guest speakers join us." Then Gaia hopped off from the stage and walked towards Magnus and Paddy. "Okay, are you two ready? You are in a safe place. We just want to be able to understand you both better!" Gaia said with a grin.

Knowledge:

-Some of the worst effects can be mitigated by consuming Wolfsbane Potion, which allows a werewolf to retain his or her human mind while transformed, thus freeing him or her from the worry of harming other humans or themselves.
-Werewolves cannot pass on lycanthropy to their children, and so if having a child with a human partner no lupine tendencies will occur
-Werewolves only pose a danger to humans, companionship with animals whilst transformed has been known to make the experience more bearable as the werewolf has no-one to harm and will be less willing to harm themselves.
-Werewolves can be easily distinguished from regular wolves by their shorter snout, more human-like eyes, the tufted tail, and their mindless hunting of humans whilst in wolf form.

"Oh yes, one last thing, we will also be learning about owl habits." Gaia went back to her table where she had a few rolls of parchment, ink, and quills. She was ready to do a lot of writing it seems.

"Yes, can't tell ya what its like for Paddy, mind ya," Magnus said with a little slight tremor in his voice. Even though he was officially out, he was still nervous. "But I am happy to answer questions. I guess I should start with me own story. I was living in me orphanage and had just turned nine. At night I'd taken to leaving the 'ome and wander around. There was so many kids and it got noisy you see. Well that night I came face to face with what I thought was a wolf. I ran but I was no match. If it tweren't for the Arror who was following the known werewolf, I'd've died. I was in so much pain that I didn't understand what was 'appening. I remember being picked up and a flash then several people around me talking and trying to 'elp. When I woke, I was told I'd never be able to go back to me orphanage again. Was almost certain that I'd be a werewolf. I've got a few scars they couldn't cure from the attack on me back, but no, I shan't show anyone that. Anyway, next full moon came and I shifted. Lost everything I 'ad in one bite. Ask what'cha like, I'll try ta explain the best I can and answer unless its somethin' I don't wanna say." He was looking at the ground for a few moments. Remembering some of the things he'd wanted for forget but he wanted to help them understand him.

Aderyn sat close to the front of the room as began this meeting's lesson. She read over the facts up on the board and peered closely at the illustrations, already quite familiar with lycanthropy from when her father talked about it at home. She smiled encouragingly up at Magnus () as he spoke, listening to his story. She'd already heard a bit of it at the previous week's meeting, but she was interested to learn all the other details.

Raising a hand as Magnus finished speaking, she waited to be called on to ask a question she had. When no one else spoke up, she went ahead.

"Do you find transitions fairly instantaneous, or do you have any after effects? What I mean is, after you turn back into a human again after the full moon, do you have any wolf tendencies left over?"

Magnus thought about it carefully before answering. "Hmm... well, part 'o it is hard to focus on. Its painful. Like a beast lurkin' under and it rips outta ya. I guess stages that happen relatively fast. I feel my legs and arms start changing, back hunching over, face shifting... so its not one swift motion. As for the after affects, I've always wanted more rare meat than I did before I became a werewolf. I can smell better and move faster than normal too, though those are more increased before the full moon or days of. Normally after if I've eaten whilst I've been a werewolf, I'm very full. I am always tired the day after the cycle is completed though. It takes a lot out of me... though that's not why I lost weight so extremely this time."

Paddy waited for Magnus to finish before telling her story. "My dad's a werewolf, and so is my Uncle. I was born with a covering of fur, so they thought I might be the first witch to be born a werewolf, but I didn't turn until I was out with my Uncle on a full moon when I was 5. Mum thinks that Uncle bit me, but he wouldn't admit to anything. Uncle is an alchemist and has been making his version of Wolsfbane for quite a while. It meant we could run through the forest near his home on a full moon, and not be a risk to any humans.... not that any humans ventured that far into the forest anyway."

"I tend to have reasonable control in the day before the full moon, which I guess was helped by being able to run free in the forest that night. I will admit that I chase rats on a full moon too. Being cooped up in the hospital wing during the last full moon meant it was a lot tougher to cope with though. Some of my injuries caused during a full moon are unable to be healed even by magic, although they do get better up after a day or two - the latest full moon's injuries were worse than normal, as the lack of animals nearby and being unable to run meant I struggled more than usual."

When Ethel heard Gaia call the club to order she trailed along after the group. Once there, she listened, rapt, to Paddy and Magnus' accounts of living with lycanthropy. "Thanks for sharing, you two," she chimed in with a smile. "It's a privilege to have you share your experiences with the club."

Aderyn listened intently to both Magnus () and Paddy's (Paddy) stories, fascinated by their experiences. She would never wish lycanthropy on anyone, but getting the chance to hear about it first hand from two actual werewolves was riveting. As Ethel () spoke up, Aderyn agreed with her.

"Yes, thank you. The more we all get to know about werewolves, the more we can educate others, and maybe one day everyone will become much more understanding of the affliction."

He'd already heard Paddy's story before and didn't have anything to add seeing as he was a lot more violent than she was it seemed. He nodded and said, "Glad to 'elp. Feel free ta ask what ever you want. I shan't get upset and'll tell ya if it is a topic I don't wanna talk about."

Fade sat quietly with Chase half asleep on his shoulders while Magnus (()) and described their individual experiences. He offered Magnus a supportive smile while the other boy did his best to answer the questions the other students had. Fade was surprised to learn that Paddy’s fur had nothing to do with being a werewolf. Or at least didn’t seem to at first anyway. It seemed strange, if one of his uncles had bitten him and suddenly Fade had become a werewolf he was sure his mother would do anything to have her brother come clean about what exactly had happened. But that was his family, and Paddy’s seemed more accepting of werewolves in general. Still, he did not envy them for their transformations. Fade had been practicing his own in secret and so far it had been entirely painless, rather the opposite, it made him feel somewhat numb. But sharing that information seemed insensitive and so he kept it to himself. Choosing when and how to change was a privilege and he didn’t want to rub it in and lose any potential friendships because of it.

“Are there any known werewolves who were able to transform at will? Or is it only possible under a full moon?” On his own Fade had done what he could to find any books containing any information on the subject, but most of them were very vague and glossed over most of the questions he had. That or they were worded so strangely he couldn’t decipher them properly.

Magnus nodded. "The bloke that attacked me, he was getting better at controlling when and 'ow he shifted. From what I was told he liked eating human flesh, especially children and would set himself near kids when he knew he was close to transforming. He was able to stay a werewolf longer and was working on shifting bits of himself out of the full moon. From what I 'eard he was able to shift his hands to werewolf, thus able to transmit the curse without the full moon. If I bit or scratched someone in human form it wouldn't work, but with 'is claws 'e could. Got the dementor's kiss after my attack 'e did."

Out loud she addressed the group. She waved her wand and moved the werewolf’s images to one side of the screen and added new images. "If you stay with me for a moment I will include some Herbology and Potion making into our session. It is important to talk about wolfsbane potion and how it affects the transformation, but also understanding that making this potion without the proper knowledge can be really harmful. Professor Mathers was kind enough to make us these vials. Magnus is holding the lighter blue one without the wolfsbane added to it. Paddy has the thicker looking one which contains the Aconite root. Here is a breakdown of the flower." Pointing with her wand at the center picture; "We use the roots in potion making, but the benefits are great since the potion allows the person with the affliction to keep their mental faculties."

"Feel free to pass the vials around. I will leave Paddy and Magnus to continue." Gaia left the stage to tend to the owls. Most of them were sleeping but her snowy owl, Athena, felt like being the center of attention.

After discovering her patronus was a phoenix, Millie knew she wanted to learn all about these beautiful and loyal creatures. After all, who is more loyal than a Hufflepuff? She decided to see to see what needed to be done to learn and care for a phoenix.

"Yes, I am interested in joining. I'm afraid my eagerness got in the way of being more clear"

() "It is quite all right! You are more than welcome to join. We just started a new session. We are learning about werewolves and having some personal insight on what happens." Gaia hands a parchment and quill "this is our club members list. Write your name, pets you have,and creatures you are interested in. If you would also want to be part of the Hoot club write that next to your name. We have a club within a club. The Hoot club is all about owls and owl care. Do you have any questions?" Gaia beamed.
