While I like the Shopkeeper Guide (been around the site for quite a while, but I still can't always keep straight all the NPCs or their relationships with each other ^_^), I have to agree- this really didn't feel like any special day at all. If people dislike the floating items so much (personally, I always hoard even the junk items for RB), it still would have been nice to get new items all across the shops- I had really been hoping for new books and new food for my Pet Achievements.
I was surprised that there weren't any new quest shop items, just the same ones from last year re-released.
And I understand wanting to phase out the items with the anniversary number on them (just like the New Years items with the year), but they could have been replaced with something. A couple NPC-themed items like that set of Nico and Liz items in the forum shop, maybe?
And maybe a simple event like giving out double quest points for the day?
I never expected it to be a massive celebration like the 10th anniversary, but this year was up there with Children's Week for me in terms of forgettable events.

To be honest while I liked the floating items they admittedly started to get rather redundant after a while. There was also just the fact that I always ended up with a bunch of floating items after I had used them all for various collections or for achievements and then afters just kept them in posterity forever. The thing is, a lot of the time I just kept them because I honestly didn't know what to do with them after so I just kept them because they were nice to look at but after I had completed all the collections that needed them or got all the wardrobe items that wanted them, put them in treasures, etc..etc.. I just had them to have them.
I don't personally mind not having a large amount of items or having a big affair related to the fact that subeta has an anniversary. It's nice not to have a whole bunch of miscellaneous items in my vault that I have to have in my inventory.
While the anniversary sticker was nice, I agree that even one silly item with 11 on it would had made this feel more like a birthday instead of random neat things happening. Shouldn't there be cake?

I don't know, are we really lacking in cake items? We have like over 200 cakes and cupcakes, so I don't really think adding one more added or not will change everything. We got a very nice sticker.
Yeah, getting more items would have been nice, but the art department is understaffed. You gotta choose what's the most important, do you sacrifice day to day stuff for the same of the anniversary? Do you cut other events?
Sure, I'm just THRILLED that we got a ton of pirate stuff that 99% of users will never get vs. anniversary stuff that everyone could acquire. Also, if the art department is understaffed it's not the user's problem, frankly. And I would totally sacrifice day-to-day new releases (what's that, no new clothes for a while? The horror!) to see Shengui Guo fully fleshed out.
The only super rare released is at Babette, who stocks all year long. Everything else is rarity 85 and under. You're overreacting.
Also, you're right that it's not our problem that staff is small. We however, have to be understanding of the situation.
Anniversary stuff is not something people use. Even the good looking items are not in demand. So yeah, I understand staff to focus on items that are wanted (hello, these maps and the kraken dress) over yet another set of cupcakes
I miss the floaters, lol. Always fun! Plus hey, great way to buff up my wardrobe, even if I wasn't going to wear it.
But I understand that most people hated some stuff haha. I wish it felt more like a celebration as well, though? I mean even if it was just a banner on the news page that day saying "HAPPY 11th BIRTHDAY SUBETA!!" or something. Because really it barely registered that it WAS subeta's bday at all..

Personally I don't think they're overreacting. even when the items are low rarity, it is absolutely a biiiitch getting them! Or you just have to buck up and pay 10x the price to get the item later from a restocker. I know there are items from the past few years that I still can't get b/c I don't want to spend 1mil+ on it. I mean hey, I'm not complaining. I like the challenge. (and psh, who wants to do homework anyway? >.> ) But I really don't think they're overreacting.
Subeta's bday meant good, easily accessible, free items. Which is great.
Last year we did something with the pirate items that we'll be doing again this year, which is not only having them go out via the shop but also through Carl. We also have some pirate items to release other ways so people can still enjoy the pirate goodness and not have to restock for every single item. :)
People actually use the pirate items; not only for treasure chests, but they use them in wardrobes, etc. The anniversary items you never really see people use so we decided we weren't going to do a lot of them. We've stated multiple times over the past year that we want to go with quality over quantity so we aren't doing 100 items each holiday that involve a lot of recolors. We could've just done a bunch of recolors of ledgers, but instead we have separate lovely books (oh god those maps though). We're trying to move away from goodie bags and floaters. Like obviously floaters work really well for some holidays, like Fireside, but for others (like New Years) we've moved away from it.
Although I did enjoy the return of the quest shop items and the token shop restocks it didn't really seem like there was anything special happening for the anniversary. As a battler, seeing the return of the boppers is always nice, but it would be nice to see maybe a few additional boppers added or new loot. Compared to previous years where we at least had some sort of floating item or something exciting, this year was very disappointing. One of my favorite things about the anniversaries has always been finding the floating goodie bags, even if they do get a bit annoying after a few days it's exciting to see what they contain. Plus the cupcakes and plushies make great gallery fodder.
Also, while I do appreciate more creative energy being applied to other holidays, it would still be nice to see Subeta pay a bit more attention to its anniversaries.

I'm a sucker for floating items and I look forward to all events where they come out. I'm sad there were none this year. It didn't seem like a holiday at all, except for the release of several updates and items on one day.
I do appreciate the new NPC list, though. I hope the feature will get fleshed out more in the following months.
I was never a fan of the floating junk (seconding the person whose post mentioned the particularly, ahem, questionable years), but since I just skimmed the news posts, nothing struck me as being particularly celebratory. This board was what made me realize that apparently one of the posts was supposed to be going, "YAY, WE HAVE BEEN AROUND FOR 11 YEARS!" which is kind of a big deal. Except apparently not. Yay happy talk like a pirate day instead.
it doesn't have to be new stuff. it can just be some old stuff floating around. i feel like this anniversary seems very dull. :(
I thought this anniversary was treated like any other ordinary, boring day.Why wasn't new anniversary items put in the quest shops?Or,why couldn't there have been anniversary bags given out by both Major Drills and the Quest NPCs,but without numbers on them? I would've liked to have gotten plushies, books, beanbags, minions and food for the anniversary, instead of nothing. And it would've been nice to get new boppers with new drops.
Like a good neighbor, stay over there!

Agreeing with everyone else that it was really boring and sad. I understand that floating items are being done away with but they really encouraged me to get on and explore. Maybe do like a recycling/redemption system with them? Edit: Or even like others are saying, just float random (at least semi-valuable) items and put the number 11 on the floating item thumbnail so that we recognize it's for the anniversary? IDK I feel like there's even a SP sink you can somehow create from it. I realize you were busy with the plot too, but you guys picked that day so clearly you expected to have the anni and keelhaul right after?
Count me in as another who was underwhelmed with this anniversary. Don't get me wrong, the new items were great (and I am appreciative... really, I am), but as someone who hauled ass last year to obtain the quest shop items because I wasn't sure if they would return, or if I'd have new stuff to buy this year, it was disappointing to not have anything new to work on.
As for floaters, I'm not even understanding the "cheap, useless items" argument anymore, now that they're fraggable, though I do understand staff not wanting to devote time to items that barely get to see the light of day. But, if my shop is any indication lately, there are always people looking for at least some of the old event things for collections... and on that note, I'm on board with the poster(s) above that suggest hauling older, hard to find stuff out of the shadows.
I don't mind the floaters being gone, but count me in with the people who were expecting new quest shop anniversary items or something. You know just like even a few would have been nice.
Well while it has been a bit underwhelming in terms of items, I do have to say I'm happy there aren't any floaters! They were annoying by the third day & all they did was muck up my inventory as I tried to get the 1k achievement for collecting them.
I think the return of the anniversary items was nice for anyone who missed out on them the year before and the wrapping paper/birthday items are greatly appreciated since there were very few things like that out there. Now I can sticker wish a friend happy birthday!
And hey, maybe Subeta just wanted a relaxing birthday? Now that the site is getting older it didn't want to have a huge birthday bash and just wanted to stay in pj's all day and eat some cake. ;)

I did find some irony in the fact that we can finally frag stuff like floaters... and now we don't get them anymore xD. I don't really miss them or anything (the novelty wears off after the first day, anyways).
I'm definitely not missing the numbered items that no one ever uses or anything.
There is never enough cake. Ever.
