Wow so much bitching and complaining....

per·fect adjective Having all the required or desirable elements, qualities, or characteristics; as good as it is possible to be.

The staff is not perfect, they are fucking humans. So how about we say thank you to the staff for their hard work, and for giving us a new plot and not rehashing an old one?

I'm in Europe (Belgium), and the times zones were ok for me? First one was 5 in the morning, but boss was still there when I got up. Second was 11 in the evening, I stayed up extra late in order to get some fights in. Third was 6 in the evening, which was ok as well.

As long as you're willing to put some effort in, at least one of the timezones should have worked, I think?

I really appreciated the advance notice of boss wave release, whilst being in Europe and I didn't get much in on the first wave, I had the option to stay up late for the remaining two waves - and I didn't have to sit around hoping and waiting all weekend - meaning I could go out and about with other things as I needed.

I was also pleasantly surprised at how well the site handled traffic/lag, given all the advance notice :)

While I appreciate the advance warnings and breaks in the fight, I do think it could have been a bit more balanced.

I made a quick chart to illustrate the times she was active:

SPOILER (click to toggle)

When you consider 5am - 5pm encompasses 10am - 10pm in the UK, I think it exposes the glaring inconsistencies with the times. I appreciate that it isn't easy when you're trying to coordinate real people but even if the final wave was brought forward two or three hours, it would have helped close the gap.

Hear hear!!. I'm not the greatest battler, and I absolutely HATED the Rowboat, but there were so many other elements to enjoy in this plot. The artwork, the variety of new games, the challenger drops that I was able to beat.... Did I mention the artwork? so awesome! I live in the USA but not all the times were convenient for me, big deal. I think staff went over and above to make the best compromise for everyone they could.

Thank you for your hard work Subeta Staff!

But if I&;ve learned anything on subeta in the last 8 years, its that they love boring repetitive things.

I loled.

I missed battling completely because I had things going on IRL (traveling out of state) that prevented me from being online this weekend. I find it somewhat disappointing that staff plans a plot where we get multiple days to do all of the steps.. EXCEPT the final one. But not surprised.

I love how staff gave advance notice and still get complaints LOL oh god subeta users you never disappoint

I enjoyed this plot. I didn't get to participate much in the battling portion because I was on vacay [S]AKA IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT STAFF Y DINT U TAILOR TO MY SKEDULE[/S] but I did enjoy it all. I think I might have taken a few swings at the first, maybe second Kiyo stage? I don't even remember tbh

But if I've learned anything on subeta in the last 8 3.75 years, its that users are going to complain no matter what.

This is really my complaint summed up. The previous steps weren't log-in time specific, and they lasted several days. This was technically spread out over several days, but only for a few hours each.

I found the battle step of the plot a little dissappointing, too, especially the battling times (and that defeating the Kiyo was an rather sudden/unexpected end end to the plot - new land?) But of course there are reasons for the specific times at which the opponent was released, so I guess you cannot accommodate all.

But then, why count the damage cumulative??? Some people thus have the chance of three times battle points, others only one. I think it would be more fair if only highest score would count (no matter in which wave you got it) - so that you have a chance even if you cannot battle in each of the three waves. And those who can still can try to best their result.

I missed all three stages due to work and I'm in New York. Didn't get a single hit in. (Although I did manage to do one of the non-battle alternative quests, so that's... something, I guess.)

I'd prefer if we actually got a boss that's strong enough to last a few days rather than have scheduled stages. That way everyone gets a chance to get a few hits in. It's not fair this way, when some people get to build up their cumulative score three times while others can't get a single hit in, and all due to their time zone.

that's not going to make it more fair. All that means is that instead of spending 3 sets of 6 hours each battling the boss, I'm going to spend the entire weekend battling the boss. The people who want to and can, are still going to and the people who aren't as dedicated are still not going to get as good of prizes. And that's how it ought to be. No one is entitled to something they're not going to try to earn.

I'm going to just keep posting until Bosses get revamped (my suggestion, other peoples', whatever will make it more fair and less of a death march).

Or put a max amount of damage per pet or account and once you hit it you are done fighting a boss. That way people with huge pets/well equipped are done much faster but if you have a small pet/poorly equipped you still have a chance if you feel like grinding for hours. My reward for having invested over the years is I now only have to spend two hours fighting or can get the prizes with multiple pets. The reward for new comers who are willing to put in 12/24 of grinding is they have a real chance at top prizes, instead of having not a chance in hell of competing against the biggest/best equipped pets to get highest total damage.

But then you would get more people getting the top prizes than staff probably want.

^ That's how it's always been, and that's always been one of the biggest issues with boss battles.

I really preferred this way, especially since there wasn't only a few hours of downtime in between each boss and the time's they'd come back was announced-- if someone was in the position to shuffle around some time, then they could. And most importantly people could actually leave the PC to eat/sleep/go to work/go to the bathroom without fear of being left behind.

I definitely feel like this was an improvement.

Regarding everyone asking for a cap...

Quote by Purge
Capping damage is an interesting idea, but I&;m not in favor of it. If it&;s set too high it&;ll effectively be the same as it is now. If it&;s set too low, there will be far too many users capping and then we&;re stuck with making a marginal weapon. (sauce)

If people cannot make it onto the website when they are told IN ADVANCE of when battles will be happening, then it's their own fault. And repeating what I said forever ago- everyone on here has a real life. I guarantee it. I am sorry if you were unable to get on due to real life circumstances or obligations, but that does not make the entire thing unfair.

Also, whenever there's been a continuous boss battle (I'm looking at you Gelatin Wars), everyone always complains about how the top battlers will just stay on and power through. And oh, woe is me, I can't dedicate as much time as them! dramatic sobbing

Guys. There were three waves that staff manually altered to extend the length (to allow more fighters.) They happened during all different times of day over a weekend (when statistically more people are able to get on.) They were announced in advance to all players. Non-battlers were given options to damage Kiyo on the side (even between the waves.) Kiyo was actually a feasible boss to damage given we could freeze her.

... Just, get over yourselves. The staff did an awesome job of making this plot inclusive to users of all different abilities (both in real life and in this virtual one.)

Honest question: Why should users with weaker pets have the possibility to gain the same prizes as users with strong pets, users who worked hard for their pets and spent a LOT of money to be this strong? This would be more unfair than anything else. Training your pet for big and mean battle opponents would make no sense if you get the same results and the same prizes with a weak pet. That is not only unfair but completely illogical.

As said: "No one is entitled to something they're not going to try to earn."

Frolicking in your RL is your choice. To have to work on weekends is your choice too, because you chose this job. Obviously. Don´t lament that some battlers spend most of their weekend on Subeta to battle the boss opponent if they are able. And don´t lament that staff won´t tailor the plot and battles to your personal schedule (as was pointed out before).

You always have two choices:

  • crying how unfair the plot, the battles and staff is (I guarantee you during the next plot you will still not be able to keep up with the battlers) or (and that´s the better option by far)
  • get up your derrière, invest some time and some money and train your pets.

Sorry for my direct words but I´m tired of all the complaining.

It's not complaining for the sake of complaining. It's just... unfair. I appreciate the hard work of the staff and enjoyed the event as a whole, but the timings were a big oversight in my opinion.

If you were to sleep the 'correct' 7 hours you get to battle the boss for a possible 17 hours. If you were to sleep the 'incorrect' 7 hours you get to battle the boss for a possible 10 hours.

You're giving someone 70% more opportunity based on their time zone alone. How is that fair? Yes, people have real life commitments. Yes, they can't get on the whole time. But you're going to do a hell of a lot better if you have 7 additional hours to work around your commitments.

It's never going to be totally balanced. And I understand that. But I feel like there could have been a greater effort made so it was more even.
