Amanda was excited when she saw a new boy walk in (). She recognized him from her hometown, and it was nice to see a familiar face. She watched as he settled into a chair with his cat and started reading some papers pulled from his robes. When he looked up for a moment, she waved at him hastily. Luna, her cat, yawned and trotted over to where the new arrivals were sitting, curious about them both. She sat next to their chair and looked up at them patiently. Another student joined him after a few minutes, a girl. She gave the girl a wave and a smile as well. ()

(ooc: I don't mind if you play two characters!)

"Ok, so I'll make a note to myself- don't take the tea bag." Kainra said and nodded. "Good night!"

"What type of books?" Kainra asked. "It's always nice to read a good book. But I never seem to find the time to just sit down and read."

((Glad you're all okay from the accident. Accidents can be scary.))

Kainra shrugged. "Some, but none as much as Wizard's Chess. What other games do you play?

Amanda looks at the boy sitting in their group who she had not introduced herself to yet (she had been immersed in her game of chess), and said kindly, "Hi, I'm Amanda. Nice to meet you!" She gestured to the cat that was now sitting by the fire with the two new arrivals a few feet away from them and said, "That's Luna. She's very friendly!"

Setsu's eyes lit up. "I love muggle fantasy novels! I don't know, they fascinate me."

Fade’s cat perked up when Luna approached. Looking up from smoothing out his crumpled papers, Fade grinned. “Hello there.” Of all things he recognized the cat from his neighborhood, that must mean… He looked up and found Amanda () waving at him. His hair darkened a shade or two as he became slightly nervous. His cat Chase however, relaxed as ever, leapt to the ground to sniff and rub against Luna.

Seemingly each time Fade blushed, so did his hair. When his condition was noticed it only made it worse, and he hoped against hope that no one would say anything. “You go here too? Weird right…” He stammered and looked down at his cat while fidgeting with his still terribly rumpled papers. Back home he was forced to dye his hair to cover up his condition. Fade wasn’t sure how Amanda would respond, would she think he was a coward? She wouldn’t be far off.

Here at Hogwarts he was able to be more open about his condition, well maybe more lazy than open. Even if he was picked on by some of the upperclassmen occasionally because of it. Fade was so preoccupied with his own racing thoughts he didn’t notice the approach of a very pretty girl () until she spoke. His heart leapt into his throat and his grip on the papers tightened to the point of one tearing slightly. “Oh! This?” His hair flashed fuchsia before settling into a deep purple. “Class schedule, a map, and a list… I make lists so I don’t forget stuff.” He had whispered the last part barely audible above the crackle of the fire. Swallowing hard he forcibly relaxed and his hair began to softly fade. Taking a breath he smiled nervously.

Amanda scooted her chair a little closer to where he was sitting. "I see our cats know each other. I bet Luna is happy he is here. What's your name? Mine's Amanda, that's Luna," she said gesturing to her cat who was now flopped down on the rug by the fire enjoying the attention of the bengal cat. "I didn't know you were a wizard!" She was genuinely surprised; she had played on muggle playgrounds with him as a child and had never suspected they had this in common.

She noticed that his hair was changing colors and wondered what that was all about. It might be unkind to ask about it right now, but she thought she would try to get to know him so she would feel comfortable asking. The purple, blue, and pink shades were actually quite eye catching.

"Hello. I am Kainra. Nice to meet you, Amanda." Kainra said and smiled. He looked at the cat Amanda gestured to. "I always wanted to get a cat, but never got the time to. Always too busy."

Kainra nodded. "Some muggles definitely know how to write some brilliant stories. Little do they know, some of the stuff they consider fantasy might be real. Still, it's amazing how much imagination some muggles do have."

Beth looked up from her writing. "I love playing Snitch Snatcher! with my sisters. I also like playing Exploding Snap."

(Thank you! I will be get better I think but not sure I am in the mood to role-play for a while. Maybe we can just pretend my shy character ran off to hide in the meantime.

Sorry all that I haven't been on much, just popping in to say hi. My cat became very ill last week. We took her to three different vets but there was not much that could be done for her and she was in a lot of pain, so we had to have her put to sleep.

Hope you all are doing well! I may try to catch up on some of the other cult events for house points when I have time.)

( @ Battykins for non-assignment rp's you can have more. Although for rp assignments it might be best to just use a primary person for them, but that's just my opinion. @ maomei Omg, I'm so sorry to hear that! -hugs-)

“That’s Chase, I’m Fade.” Chase meowed back at the sound of his name curiously before glancing back at Luna. Fade meanwhile frowned down at his ripped parchment before unceremoniously stuffing the papers back into his robes. There would be time to go over his schedule for the nine hundredth time again later. It was impossible to concentrate with all the chatter anyhow. Much to his relief, the conversations going on around them sort of eased the tension he had been feeling. So far, this group of students seemed to be rather accepting of one another, and it was nice to see a familiar face, even if it was a cat’s.

Last year, his first year, he hadn’t made very many friends. It had been difficult acclimating to the magical student life for the first time, most of his free time was spent dedicated to learning all the things everyone else already knew. Why his mother ever thought it was a smart idea to hide the fact that she was a witch from him, he probably wouldn’t ever be able to guess.

((Thank you for all your kind words. I'm sure I will get through it eventually. That was a lovely poem also. Sorry for hijacking the thread for a few posts there, I'll let you all get back to the role play. Hope everyone's doing well!))

Amanda bent down to let Chase sniff her hand and then gave him some scratches behind the ear. She then leaned in towards Fade and said quietly, "You're a second year right? You were gone last year, so you must be. Is there any tips or hints you want to give me? I don't have any older siblings so I never really got to ask anyone about Hogwarts before. Of course, I've read all the books, but I just thought I'd ask anyway!" She waited to see if Fade could give her any knowledge she hadn't already gathered, hoping he would!

Her mind strayed for a second to her family back home. She was the oldest of her parent's children, but had twin little brothers that would be staring when she started her 3rd year at the school. She made a mental note to write them a letter tomorrow and send it with one of the school owls. Her parent's had not attended Hogwarts as they were New Zealand natives and had attended school there before moving to Britain shortly after getting married. (random backstory yay)
