I'd rather have more slots in a slow and steady way, either via loyalty boxes, paid slots, group challenges and updating the base account slots, but NOT UP TO 400 PETS.

Haha 400 is crazy. I don't think I'd know what to do with all those slots and I call myself a pet addict.

I also don't think that there are 400 Pets that I like based on species/color...man, I think I'm even too choosy for 100. On the bright side that would bring Subeta money, I'd need countless custom overlays after all.

dfgkjdhfg Oh holy wow 400? That is just, wow that's too many okay -laugh- Even 100 is likeeee, wow that's a lot (like if we could have up to 100 today, that'd break down to about +10 a year). However, the point remains... there are pet sites who pet site more than we pet site. And users from neopets probably don't care so much about dress-up as they do pets.

I would love it if we had a slow but steady stream of more slots, though. We can gain 1 from LB, and it'd be nice if idk.. we could buy 2 more a year, and through various in-site activities we could unlock 1-2 more (for a total of 4-5 a year). Especially things from the OP and that awesome community challenge idea that I still like (keeps everyone busy + yay slots).

The more I thought about it, the more I like getting base slots for good behavior. Like, not getting 284749 warnings, and being involved in the site.

Like, we currently have 5. Add 5 base ones and offer opportunities for other base slots for gud behavior. LIKE THE HELPER ACHIEVEMENT. THAT THING NEEDS MORE TIERS.

Same here. I got one verbal for drumroll helping someone at the Adoption Forums way back when the rule said every post had to do with adopting pets but it was removed and since then my vest is whiter than white. Actually no one should look at me without wearing welding goggles.

So yes, count me in for the "pet slot for being a good person" thing, it's a good idea and possibly would support the Community Guidelines as well...we are like swimming in good ideas here imo, I hope staff already watches this board.

Now that I have read more of the board, and saw all the comparisons to other pet sites... HOLY SHIT DO I SUPPORT THIS. IF THERE IS A SUPPORT BUTTON, I WILL SMASH IT HARD.

I think what worries me the most, when comparing to the other pet sites, is not just the base number of pets... but the costs to increase the number. I never played any sites outside of Subeta, Neo, and Flight Rising... so I didn't realize just how CHEAP other sites make pet slots. For the price of one pet slot here, I could get FOUR new pets on another site? Wow. That's... wow.

I definitely support a few more base slots. I think it might be good to boost the number to like, 8 base slots, and then another 5 easy to earn ones (as some people suggested, from things like achievements and stuff), and then 5 GA ones. That gives 13 rather easy to get slots. Though, the amount to get more after that... this is one of those 'cannot unsee' moments. Now all I can think of is how I wish I could swim in pets on other sites. Eh, I guess I am fine though... for now. Once I finish my current pets though, I may just make some picket signs for "MORE CHEAPER SLOTS PLZ."

That's not necessarily true. Neopets has the option to dress your pets up, and while Subeta doesn't have that, we do have a dress up option, the difference being that it's in the form of a human avatar. I know I haven't done a whole hell of a lot with my pets here so far (or at the very least, even though some have TC items and some have rough stories, I really have nothing to show for it) but I was never into pet stories or anything on Neo. I did get really into NC buying and trading though, and (shock and surprise) the wardrobe is what I'm most into on Subeta too.

I'm not sure if there are other pet sites where you can dress your pets up, but that's part of the appeal we have: a pet site with a dress-up function of some sort.

Please no. Not unless it's going to be reliably given out. Now I know I'm going to sound super greedy/petty/whatever, but I feel like I deserve that achievement. No, I haven't written a plot guide or a newbie guide or anything. But I hang out in Help and Questions (and sometimes Problems and Bugs) every single day. I don't answer questions in the hopes of getting the Helper achievement or anything but it would be nice. I mean, not everyone is willing or able to run a plot thread or a huge guide :L Maybe I'm just bitter.

That's definintely fair enough, some people really do enjoy dressing things up. However, if I was still playing neopets today and was looking for a new pet site I wouldn't join subeta. From the outside looking in, this is a fashion/wearable site that's primary focus is clothing, and forums-- basically, like gaia. I wouldn't give it a second glance, and even as a pet person who joined when it was a petsite and has stayed despite the fact that it's no longer a pet site, I stay mostly because I know a handful of staff members like the pet aspect that started this site and I hope that one day they actually... put an effort into putting more effort into pets.

1 pet slot a year (assuming one takes that option from the LB), 1 new species every year or two+, 1 new color every few years, and a few experiments a year... doesn't really scream petsite! Especially when 99% of the NPCs are totally normal looking humans (that don't even look unique subeta races), and plots have nadda going on with pets... just you and the NPCs doing the thing. Unless you count the pumpkin patch, I think that's the only seasonal pet related thing. Heck most species don't even have wiki articles yet.

So, while it's definitely fair to say people like dressing up stuff (be it people, or pets), which is pretty obvious due to the success of the wardrobe/CWs (though to be fair people buy those for TCs too) there's also people who like plots/events/and pets. Subeta doesn't look like a petsite and if they asked around... most people would say "as long as you can amuse yourself, subeta is awesome". Which is true! I spend a lot of time buying CWs other users made, admiring overlays other users made/commissioned for their pets, making profiles for my characters that have nothing to do with subeta, and then there's the tri-weekly spotlight that mostly just causes drama and forces people to cookiecutter their ideas/type of content.

Subeta isn't a petsite. Hasn't been for a very long time, that's why most of it's older pet users have looong left the building. It's gaia with some plots that also lets you have pets and battle and stuff.

I hope one day it can rightfully be called one again, but currently, it doesn't deserve to be called that.

Reading the whole board, especially the numbers about how many basic and additional slots are on other Pet sites, makes me think that you probably should swim with the swarm and raise the slots in any way. If you want to get more new Users, make Subeta more attractive for them. Just thinking "ohhh petsites are so unpopular these days, make an avatar site instead with pets as side feature" probably isn't the right way. Considering how many PETsites exist and people actually play there and buy pet slots. That is not being "unpopular" in myopinion. ;)nnDefinitely a yes from me for more "basic" Slots, I'd even buy more if you also raise the buyable Slots limit.

My mouth waters at every mention of more pet slots. And looking at the numbers, I'm kind of surprised. When I first joined Subeta I thought it was cool you could get 20+ (haha) pets on one account. But this year I finally hit my max and one loyalty box per year is like... uuuhhh whyyyy. I hope Subeta takes advantage of the desire for more pet slots, I will always be here to put my money on that, as well as many hours of community time online. I love the idea of raising the basic slots limit, yes I am greedy and the idea of 5+ pets is making me starry-eyed. But it does seem like a very small number these days. But I'm flexible. I like many of the ideas in this thread.

Not sure if I posted yet about my support for this, but you should definitely edit your first post to include slots available on other pet sites. Not everyone is going to have the drive to read through 5 pages of posts. The comparison post though is definitely enough to get even the not pet people to support just because the community likes to think subeta out ranks other sites.

I'm not a hardcore pet focused person, but even for me, 10 is not enough, and waiting around for my annual loyalty box is a pain in the butt, so yes, total support for more base pet slots. ;O; Anything to get that number up.

I kinda got too used to subeta that I don't really think about this anymore. But this was true even when I escaped neo and joined subeta some six years ago. I remember I played for a few weeks, then lost interest completely because on a newbie level I didn't see much to do with pets. And at that time I thought I can only have five pets. I decided to stay only because I discovered the pet forum back then. So I think it's fair to say for a new user who doesn't know much about all the pet profile customization, subeta really is behind on the pet aspect, which makes me sad.

I, too wish that Subeta lies more real focus on Pets again. I mean what have we become? An avatar site that allows you to own Pets as well. Then I look at the large number of different pet sites (see OP) and ask myself how many dress up doll sites there are on the other hand. Is there any other big one besides Gaia? And is it possible that these numbers tell us that internet users generally have more interest in virtual Pets than in dressing up a virtual doll? Wouldn't it make more sense then to focus on the more popular aspect than to keep it as a feature that basically just runs beside the avatars?

There are actually a ton of avatar & forum based sites. I'm not really interested in them but off the top of my head I know of Gaia, Solaria/Solia/something along those lines (I can't remember the name completely because I played it years ago), and Kingdom of Knuffel. Although I will add that Solwhatever has (or at least had) click-to-grow pets like Unicreatures/Valenth/etc and Kofk has pet-ish things that are hard to describe... they're sort of click-to-growish but there's a lot more to them and they're a main part of the site. I haven't played Pokemon but from what I've heard about it they're sort of similar to that. Anyways, I don't know which is more popular as a whole, avatar + forum or pet sites, but tons of both exist. I barely scratched the surface of pet sites in my slots post.

It boils down to: does Keith want Subeta to be both equally or will pets get less and less until they're barely a footnote? Which honestly we're pretty close to...

I personally like that Subeta has both but ultimately I'm here for the pets. I'm a member of dozens of pet sites, signing up for every one I come across, because I like pets. I miss the days when Subeta was a pet site and I really hope Keith sees that pet people are still a huge market.
