you're right about that though, battling is not for a certain amount of people. some people show interest in it but their interest dies out once it's in between events. if there was a way to keep those people interested, I think it would be better for every one.
if you do want some help with battling, comment me and I'd be happy to try to help you out
Thanks for the offer! :) Perhaps in the Summer I'll have to dig into battling, it seems like something I can get sucked into.
I definitely think that there should be more ways to keep people interested during battle breaks. I think one way to do that is to make battling seem more accessible to newer/more casual players. You too can defeat a few challengers - of course the loot won't be great, of course it will be an "easy" challenger, but hopefully that can help to draw more people in who will stay interested.

there are challengers that you can beat with a fairly new pet, and there is this guide for new battlers. I think it's a good start. The battling community is also very friendly (most of the time) and will help out people who ask for help. There are often just not many reasons for people to start battling. Battling just has a stigma of being expensive and it's often hard to see your progress as it can be very slow, making it discouraging to the casual player.
I do think if there were more battlers though, there could be successful sinks of boosters in the MC like the scale without needing to really nerf them or increase their price. More people would buy the shinwa and apothecary boosters, making their price go up in time. If the CS boosters and the scale are competing, the CS boosters should be buffed up a bit. People pay money for them, the money supports the site. Let that benefit everyone, make the boosters good so people will want to buy them.
I'd like to reiterate that I only agree with nerfing and/or reducing supplies of boosters IF AND ONLY IF battling is actually made a viable way to gain stats. 50 xp per imp win is not viable, 5 xp per easy win is not viable AT ALL.
I definitely agree with both of that.
I think battling is expensive, but so is buying a wardrobe or going for gourmand. It can definitely be very intimidating though - one weapon runs you 15k tokens in the Token Shop, for example. I'm not sure how battling can be more appealing to people in that regard - but I think letting people know that they can still have some success and have fun with cheaper weapons/lower tier/less time. Make it more accessible for the casual/new battler.
And if more people are going to use the boosters then the price will rise - definitely agree with this!

don't hold that weapon as a standard, it's more of a wearable than a weapon. but certain good end game weapons cost you a few hundred mil or more, so there's always that. there are always cheaper options, but certain staples to most weapon sets are still expensive. they've gone in an interesting direction making many good weapons earnable yourself, such as which you earn from an achievement, is the same way. still, earning these weapons can be difficult and takes a lot of sP to train your pet and have a decent set of your own to accomplish this. Battling goes hand in hand with reading too, to boost up your AP so you can equip more scrolls. This is just another place to throw money at.
But as someone who doesn't know a lot about battling, that's plain intimidating! Wow, one weapon costs 15k?
This sort of information you're telling me is super useful - how to get weapons, how to get weapons that are going to be cost-effective, etc. - but how easily accessible is it to the general Subetan population? Is there enough interest?

very true. if you don't know about it, you'd think it's better than it really is.
I think newer battlers are often shy and don't really ask for the help that they may need. As I said before, the battling forum is a source of a lot of good information and helpful people.
both of the guides are a great addition, the newbie guide which I posted earlier, and the in depth guide, where I believe they have a list of acronyms of various battling terms. I don't know how many people have actually seen these and if the casual user even knows about these.
I'd just like to see maybe monthly, they add a new challenger (could be an old one, same art and everything, possibly the same stats and everything, just name it something slightly different) with a single new item as a 5th win prize or something. this may promote people to actually want to fight so they could get the new item every month. they could make this an achievement too every month, to limit the supply. This way someone with 20 battle pets can't flood the market and still make it more enticing to just buy the new item instead of earn it themselves. Something like this doesn't seem very intensive to staff, one extra item a month, one limited time challenger a month? an extra achievement a month? doesn't seem too difficult to me.
I know I'm definitely a little shy when it comes to approaching seasoned people and asking for advice.
I think I've skimmed those guides before, but I'm not sure how visible they are - perhaps that should be changed to attract more attention?
New challengers I think would definitely help entice people to fight. Make it an achievement, make some challengers easier to obtain and others more of a challenge. Put it in the MC for a decent price to sink some more sP! I think this could be super interesting and could possibly fit with the monthly theme? If this month is outdoors we can have some sort of giant mosquito challenger or something. Obviously the challengers would be better thought out, but that's just the gist.

it can be a bit intimidating coming into a chat where most people are familiar with each other and being the new person asking for help.
the guides are in the main links in the BC along the top, though I know that some people have never seen them before. I don't know where a better place for them would be.
they have recently put a challenger into the MC, I think this is a good step. the thing with new challengers I read once is that the art is hard to get. it takes awhile or something, that's the most difficult part of new challengers, which is why I suggested recycling old ones. I'm all for stick figure challengers too.
I've probably gotten far off topic though. if you want to continue discussing this, comment me.
if I've had any decent suggestions, I'd be happy to make a thread or something, just let me know (BAs or anyone else)
