I'm kind of bewildered that this thread got any staff attention XD. Sure, I'm not happy with the turtle pace of progress, but I also live in reality XD. Some good things are happening with subeta, just too slowly. That's life when playing a game with a small staff.
FWIW I say this to programmers on a near daily basis and get an earful of why it isn't an easy fix a lot of the time. If being behind the scenes has taught me anything, it's that things are often not as easy to fix as you'd think.
Maybe a certain gelatinous invasion would suffice...
From what I've been told, a news announcement will be made if Subeta's lookin' to hire or fill small positions. Trust me, I'd love to apply too. I need more people experience. xD

I believe there is something planned, though I am thinking that's going to happen end of this month/start of next. Gellies will probably be end of July or start of August?
I have been told that too but there are numerous forums with no mods, just seems like it's not important to fill those positions. I don't like bothering with tickets about a necro'd thread or in the wrong forum or it needs locked or stuff like that.
I heard something might be planned too, but I can't remember what was being hinted. I just know a gelatin war was definitely confirmed to occur sometime during summer.
That's true about the forums with little to no mod activity though. Those are volunteer positions, i think, but shoot, it's something at least.

Yeah they're volunteer I believe but I am quite active and would love having the purple icon xD I would realy enjoy it I think.
Gellies were a bit late last year I think mid august and I thought it might be a bit earlier this year. Shinwa's hint and a few things from staff has made it seem like maybe a plot is going to happen.
I am happy with the replies from staff on this thread. I did see that a few people hadn't been on in a few days but I understood that they have their lives and stuff.
Im seeing all this negativity at staff/this site but everytime I log in, no errors. I can browse through it fine, once and a while maybe some downtime( but its way better than it used to be) sure things need to get completed but it doesnt affect how I use subeta. I cant imagine what it is like to work behind the scenes, for everyone upset when is the last time you programmed a website? Maybe you should give it a try? as far as I got was csc, after that i couldnt keep up.
No disrespect to everyone, i respect them but personally i have no issue with this site, with the art, staff or the owner. So much love goes staff. just wanted to put some sunshine into this topic.
I couldn't imagine everything that is behind the scenes. Yes, there is bugs and things mess up but who knows what is happening behind the scenes and what we didn't see that was fixed. I am just happy that we don't have all the error codes and stuff like before. shifty eyes

I disagree. When I had my website, I did all of the editing offline, tested it offline, before pushing it online. I don't think logging into subeta sais anything about whether staff is fixing something or not. Artists don't need to log in to subeta to draw art, do they? Then why should programmers log into subeta if they know what problem they're trying to fix right now? Who sais staff isn't communicating through email instead of subeta?
I admittedly have nowhere near as much experience coding as any of the staff here, but I've done some for my own RPG and sometimes the smallest of 'easy fixes' can take DAYS and be ridiculously frustrating. Having experience isn't a requirement to bitching about things, but not everything can be fixed with the wave of a magic wand. This shit isn't easy, even if you've been doing it for years. Granted I sometimes wish there was better communication, even a 'hey we heard this we're going to do something about this now/soon/later', but cut them some slack. This is a REALLY small staff compared to most websites and this site runs pretty well. There are broken things of course, but even huge, huge websites like tumblr have broken shit that's been broken for months and will stay broken because the staff doesn't care. At least Subeta actually has mods and admins that will talk to you about what's going on and try to make changes if you don't like something. The staff have a presence here, even if you think it's not enough. That's pretty rare to find, imo.
So all of the "reasons" are still the same reasons they've always been. They're all the still "you just don't know what happens behind the scenes" etc. I am not surprised to see them here. I am not surprised to see other people say them here for the people who should. That does not mean I am not disappointed.
No I can't speak for everyone's experience. I don't know how you play. But every. time. i. log. in. I encounter an error. No lag lately, but of COURSE there's no lag! There's barely 900 people online at one time! Whether it's an error with achievements, EITHER wardrobe, posting, previewing, autopricing, comments, editing a thread, shit even trying to quote two of you from this thread didn't work and it reloaded the post box blanking out what I had typed. Just because the site isn't LAGGING doesn't mean it's working properly. Just because it's not having mega giant issues doesn't mean there aren't issues. But I'm not here to change minds of bandwagonners or suckups, I am here to voice my concern for the site as a whole, who only seems to be able to fill the daily goal/support bar on a day that something big is released in the cash shop and who hasn't made any significant progress on major site features in years. You'll notice I haven't said that anything should have been or should be quick or should be an "easy fix". I'm not new. But srsly. Multi-year projects like the wardrobe? Do people really think that's reasonable? Do people really think that would fly in any other business other than this one?
Also mega eyeroll at the person who thinks I am a "major stalker" for noticing a lack of staff and looking on their public profiles on the site I play or for... idk... having a twitter.
brb lmao at the idea the site is fine
@ Ariel
I definitely appreciate your efforts and know you do a lot around here. It's good to hear you keep after other people to do the same. ;)
My big issue with the idea of little things being an easy fix is that it feels like someone had to have made some sort of changes to something that wasn't broken in order for it to break suddenly. Is that incorrect? It should be fixed right away if it isn't.
@ rock and everyone saying there hasn't been lag. There's this board: http://subeta.net/forums.php/read/834019/-lag-wth-is-jspusher/1
There were at least two days where the site was lagging horribly off and on. Mostly on.
Another one of the bugs that makes navigation more difficult, especially for new users, is that the hovers on maps were broken and have been for a long time now.
Different areas of the site effect different players depending on what their interests are. There's still the mystery of why Keith decided to change the restock system just because it hadn't been changed for a couple of years. NPC shops were broken for weeks while he tried to sort the resulting bugs out. People who don't restock wouldn't have noticed it but there were several topics full of complaints from those of us who do.
That is one thing Subeta tends to have trouble with, is why some users get errors whereas others don't. If you don't mind me asking, what OS and browser are you using? Do you have Java and all other plug-ins up-to-date?
Have you been screencaping all the errors you get and posting them on the bug forum? Have other users been experiencing the exact same problem?
Keith is trying to get to the bottom of that now actually. =)
It's stable at the very least. When it comes to broken shit, I like to point at Neo these days. No site is perfect.

It's also a matter of making it work now. It already has issues with the size of wardrobes, it has problems if you have multiple sorting options selected, and it has problems if you move in / out of panes over 30 minutes, it'll break chrome and run out of memory, which is obviously not ideal, haha.
So I could obviously finish up the new wardrobe with the code that it has now, but it wouldn't work very well and that isn't something that can just be fixed. :/
💖 ✨ 🤗
I still say I'd rather have the site go down for a few days and some of the major bugs be fixed in that time (re: wardrobe.) If monetary means are a problem for this, do a CS sale beforehand that actually encourages people to spend money on the site. Like whatever came of costume trunks' replacement?
I've done my fair share of coding, admittedly I'm not the greatest at Javascript but that also doesn't mean I'm completely ignorant in the matter either.
Sometimes working on a live site makes things billions of times harder.
Just my opinion.

People who think that everything is fine are living under a rock, quite frankly.
I frankly couldn't care less if, when or how often staff member xy is online or not but, as others already stated as well, the site surely isn't working just fine.
Also, in my opinion, looking up when a staff member has been last online doesn't make the OP a "creepy stalker". For what do we have the online status if it's frowned upon to admit that you are using it? XD
I think a lot of user frustration with this site comes in because we know what the site could be and it's not there yet (and who knows if it ever will be... never by my guesses). We keep getting told that "this" or "that" is going to happen, but it's almost always done half-assed, which disappoints us. There are things that have been broken for months (high score payouts... cough cough) or "new" features that are a pain in the ass to use (beta wardrobe). If it was just done correctly and worked properly the first time, people wouldn't be so pissed.
