How many points did people get for being in the top 11 for the HAs, if there were points? Or was it just recognition? Also, there's a broken image, love. Plus, who all got the top 11? it would've been nice to have seen the names along with the HAs! :)

Am I getting this right? It's a base of 1000 points for completing the chapter and then an additional 250 points for each puzzle? If that's the case, if there were bonus points for the top 11 HAs in Chapter 5, did I get them?

Ah, the puzzle that drove everyone mad. This was actually the brainchild of one of our judges, who loves logic puzzles are much as many of you do, but it had a trick to it. You were asked to provide a unique solution, but given facts that, placed in the wrong configuration could lead you to a solution where two possibilities were present and you were unable to tell. I'll let the judge explain further:

Quote
This was a reasoning puzzle based not only on the best possible option, but also a multiplicity of ambiguity, as in this question:

Question: Is the answer to this question "Yes"?

If we do not have a way to differentiate decisively, we arrive with two possible answers: Yes and No. More than that we cannot fathom.

So, in this mixture of Knights and Knaves (or, for historical purposes, Arbus and Bosnin), and also Knights, Knaves, and Spies, everything hinges on where to place the single human. You were given a clue where the two groups were separated in one group of two and one group of three, which should have been obvious that the group of two would contain one liar and one truth-teller, and the group of three would contain the human. However, that wasn&;t clearly stated nor was the fact that you could have more than one liar, which was required for a unique situation.

A number of you made Delish the human, which left you with Rembrandt and/or Pale Lightning in virtually interchangeable roles. In one of these options, Delish could even become Unseelie.

You also needed to bear in mind that, if any part of a statement is false, the statement itself is false, even though another part of the statement may be true.

Once the Hint Fairy was able to help because you sent in your frustration, and you were given the idea that the human had to be in the group of three, things fell rapidly into place and you were able to solve it correctly with no ambiguity, leaving this:

Rembrandt says Pale Lightning is Unseelie (True, making him Seelie)
Mauve says Rembrandt is Seelie (Human telling truth)
Pale Lightning says he&;s human (False, Unseelie as supported by Rembrandt&;s statement)
Delish claims that Rosemary is Unseelie (True, making her Seelie)
Rosemary claims that neither she nor Delish is Unseelie (Partially false, so all false, making Delish a Seelie telling the truth.

Logic puzzles with ambiguities are very difficult, so give yourselves a hand that you were able to solve this.

As for the rest of the challenges, my whole panel and I learned that, if random damage doesn't work, the "in the RP" option isn't any better. None of you made any critical errors, so we're all "back to the drawing board."

Therefore you all got full credit for sensational RPs as well as excellent mazes and finally the correct puzzle solution.

The only extra points in this Chapter were the "Vesnali Eggs" which were that Kelian was Caniel and that Delgar might very well still be alive. If your team got both, it counted for two, for a boost of 500 points.

Congrats to:

Fallen Angels (Both) League of Whovians (Both) Midnight Dancers Mischievous Misfits (Both) Nightowls

Scores have been updated in the first post. Awesome job, everyone, really!!

Any HA in the top group gets 250 for the team. This is your first win, so you got 1750 points total for the chapter.

It's very unlikely that names will be posted, since most teams post their HAs by character, which makes sense. The HAs are lifted by URL and taken to the judging location, where the winners are selected. I then look at the team entries to credit them properly. Individual names, or even team names are never given to the judges, to eliminate all possible "fondness" for any team.

To individually search out individual would take much more time on my part, and this event is a logistic challenge as is, so this method, which is very workable, won't be changed.

Also, everyone stores differently, so, if someone deleted the HA image from the upload site, or in some cases, changed the avatar being worn, it will create a broken link. I have no control over this.

Hope that helps.

: I feel that I need to make a final clarification regarding our Terrapin Glider, because I promised you that I would get back to you once our team made up it's mind about what to do with the 2-turtle-dilemma...and since this issue was discussed in this forum in front of super-important persons like , and maybe even ( although sometimes I can't tell if she's paying attention...her eyes are sometimes all glazed over and she has an angelic look of perpetual bliss on her face....)

We sent back to the scrap pile with her glider and made her retro-fit it once she was feeling better from her surgery, which was about three o'clock that afternoon once her Turboopium ultrahydromorphine canibuskickassus kicked in. Consequently, the turtle may be space worthy, but it looks a little funky and the interior is littered with dozens of empty Oreo cookie packages. Also, we went to school and Suboogled "Terry Pratchett" and learned that he is dead. There was no other information on him, so we still need to do some more research. I'm probably going to have to use some other search engine like...um...BitTorrent is a search engine, right?

I think perhaps the Glitter Glider propels itself much like the giant centipede spacecraft in the Avengers movie or the Wonder Bra does ...no visible means of support.

More info on Sir Terry Pratchett than you might have wanted to know. However, please note that Great A'Tuin is not exactly a vehicle, but more a world-carrier. He does travel space, but would never work in a battle.

We do apologize for the lateness of the scoring. It was caused by much internal debate as to which of the gift packages, if any, should receive bonus points. In the end, we decided that some should indeed merit those.

The criteria we used were:
Was the package life affirming and celebratory?
Did it take into account the Seelie nature of the prince, or conversely, the fact that Delgar had little of normal childhood?
Was it in some way whimsical, since the prince was in sore need of delights?
Did it have any sort of added embellishment to charm or make it meaningful?

We received a number of packages that were perfectly serviceable, but some concentrated on a war based aspect. This is no doubt true, but, considering the circumstances, certainly not the cheeriest. Some even had a deathly theme.

There were also a couple that were clairvoyant in nature, describing the reputation of the prince, which was actually unknown, since he went missing from his crib. Some went over the limit on gifts, and some seemed to have missed the theme.

However, there were six who did really stand out to us after the debates resolved, and they have been given the bonus.

You all got the two puzzles very neatly, so the bonus of 250 for the six teams was the only difference from the base score of 1500. Congratulations to Bohemian Travelers, Catnip Thieves, Foggiest Notions, League of Whovians, Midnight Dancers, and Nightowls!

Scores have been updated in the first post!
