The scores are in for Chapter 4 and the first post has been updated. If I have your numbers, these have been added as well. (PLEASE get those in!)
As always, your team's HAs were judged on:
- Suitability for the assignment given.
- Overall impact and effect.
- Use of items and presentation: mechanics of layering, shade matching or contrasting, etc.
- HA integration to palette of setting (or clashing with setting if appropriate to task.)
- Attention to and use of "those pesky little details." (Accessories!)
- Appropriate use of items in pre-established "sets." (Rowan fills in this information.)
- Look of style as fitting to character established.
- Make-up and hair fit and enhance overall look and style.
Okay, base scoring is easy here. All of you submitted, and all of you got the puzzle. Well, dang! :D Gotta make those harder! So you all have the points for the puzzle and the HA submission for a total of 1000.
That puzzle was the work of three of the judges, who took my idea and ran with it. Probably why "Give me the Beach Boys" didn't show up in the questions.
Now, and I know this will cause some snapping in my direction, but the whole "bonus points" mess send two other judges into a okay-let's see what we can do" mode, to which all the rest of the panel agreed, and this was the concept of "Easter Eggs" hidden in some challenges. Basically, if you find one, you get 100 "Eggy Points" for your team.
The idea of Easter eggs hidden in games is not new, and is in fact pretty common, but, since this was the first "Vesnali Egg" for WS, I gave teams who were "one off" a clue on which one to fix and turn in. Basically, if your team's answers matched the judges, you got the egg!

Beautiful, gorgeous HAs all round! I got to chuckle as the judges struggled. Everyone got wonderful scores and, of course, full points.
Below are the extra-sensational entries, the Judges' Top Ten, in order of submission of the entry. This is a regular feature of Wayward Squirrel Adventures, and always carries bonus points. In this case, the bonus was 250 points for your team if one of your members placed, plus 125 extra points if you had two in the lineup. (True of two teams.)
If you did not have a placement here, don't worry. There are more HA challenges to come. One in the next chapter in fact. Please bear in mind this judges' comment:

The Judges Top Ten
Gold can be a difficult color to use as it's a showoff in large quantities. However, the utter simplicity of the rest of the look balanced it so well. The chosen background was a perfect complimentary offset with the effect of the golden lights.
The utter innocence of this look resonates so well. We would have preferred a simpler headpiece, perhaps also flowered like the bracelet, but the overall effect was too Seelie to ignore.
Ah, yes, what is the Faerie Court without butterflies and petals---and vanity. This one grabbed all of those.
Yes! The modern, pouty, "I refuse to marry some wimpy prince!" rebellious teen fae. Pulled it off with great style!
The perfect example of the sultry beauty. We loved the layers on this one!
Can't have Seelies without at least one "White Shaman" displaying a bleached skull somewhere. This was also a triumph of layering.
This one could be a court teacher, or at least the governess. The working of the color tints is what charmed here. Contrasting pastels with the background was super.
While this look did demand contrasting darker hair, we felt black was too stark. we would have preferred a brown 4or even 5 shades darker than the brown in the center of the flowers. However, the fabulous look of the flowers with the lace touches won us over.
What is the land of Faerie without a critter? The little naked faerie cherub companion added the necessary implication of naughtiness perfectly. We're still chuckling over the formal loincloth.
The Faerie King has a new Queen! Yes, yes, a thousand heralds yes on this one! This guest will make courtiers bow before her as she enters in style!
These six designs were absolutely wonderful and so well executed! We had to give them presentation! However, they probably wouldn't have made it past the Watchtowers except for the fact they were guests. The key here would have been to disguise your look if it didn't fit the "Seelie Mode," not to exploit it. However, your HA design work is outstanding!
Killer Ones Too Unseelie
Woot you earned us bonus points! Also can't believe I was in the other six mentioned! I am not sure though what about my look is too unseelie.
Not arguing with the decision at all, the bonus point HAs are all fantabulous! But I was wondering if I could get clarification as to why my HA is Unseelie rather than Seelie? I can't learn from my mistakes if I don't know what my mistakes were.

I am also unsure why yours was considered Unseelie, maybe the eye makeup and the color of your hair? Which is kind of weird, considering that is how your hair always looks as Ravensong.

My only argument isn't even for my team LOL, it's for the person who had their hair mentioned. I know faerie magic abounds in this adventure, but I was under the impression that we aren't really supposed to be messing with our bases too much. So like, no sudden gender changes etc. But wouldn't this also include things not easily changed like hair? I bring this up because I'm sure there are some of us who don't plan on changing our bases hair at all due to lack of magically skills.

Oh, I'm so glad for you, but it's always the judges. I never judge my own stuff.
You know, the whole thing on these HA changes strikes a real chord with me, since I lost first in a long and difficult event because I DID change my hair and make-up for a celebratory look. However, while this change was a no-no then, the same judges wanted a gender change! for another portion. Unstated inconsistency ruled the day. I was SO fed up at this point that I clearly posted that, for my events, you could alter hair, makeup, etc. in cosmetic style, since we so often do IRL, but you should not change gender for a masquerade.
I went to look for the post, and I know it's here somewhere in the WS3, so whichever one of us finds it first, please post the link! :D
Glitter, the hair color didn't stop that entry from being selected, as you can see, but it was the judges' honest opinion. It doesn't take much to give black hair a light rinse for a costume look. I have friends that do this all the time, or they add streaks.
