The scores are in for Chapter 3 and the first post has been updated. As always, your teams were judged on:
- Accomplishing the specific tasks given within the given settings.
- Creativity in solutions.
- Participation of each active team member.
- Equal emphasis and effort given to each active team member.
- Consistency of classes and spirit as defined in introduction of members.
- Presentation of characters and event, with details, and use of companions, if applicable.
- Interesting "extras": humor, romance, pathos--you know, the emotional stuff which makes for 3D!
These scores were carefully considered and discussed, and, in the spirit of making things crystal clear, I'm going to let my "judge captain" fill you in on why some of you may have a different score:
<p>In the case of the challenges for the third chapter, we awarded a bonus of either 125 for a partial score of 250 for a full in the role-playing section. For the vehicle challenge, we had decided on a 250 firm bonus, but, we must add, in the case of a few of you, we wish it could have been higher. (Fallen Angels, Foggiest Notions, Nightowls, and The Chemeriad, please consider that you are additionally commended.)</p>
<p>Now, since the guidelines for overall achievement were published in the scoring of Chapter 2, let us discuss why your team may not have received the full bonus combination of 500.</p>
<ol>
<li>Full and equal participation of all active team members. We are still seeing some teams with one or two characters that dominate the entire scenario. We can understand the more flamboyant versus the more reticent members, but that can be played out so that each is given proper attention.</li>
<li>Both sides of a challenge were equally treated. Here we had teams that devoted some time to the vehicle, but not much to the "settling in" role-play.</li>
<li>In the vehicle challenge, suitability became an issue for some teams. While we saw much creativity, or, in some cases, creative adaptations (the spirit of Prachett is alive and well,) but not so much success in terms of fitting a "Firefly" type setting, or in practicality for battle. If your vehicle would be downed in under two minutes by an Unseelie aerial sweep, or have its upper structure removed by low hanging trees, or be shattered by Seelie watch towers because it was of Unseelie origin and materials, it did not properly fit this challenge.</li>
<li>While this is mostly a danger to veteran players, Rowan tells us there is a thread that defines which characters are where. Please review this, as some of you are still in confusion as to what is the realm of the Wayward Squirrel as opposed to who and what exists on an asteroid in Nexus space and is known as the Offtime Saloon.</li>
</ol>
<p>Points were awarded as 500 for the "settling-in" role-play, 500 for the two puzzles, and 500 for the vehicle, for a total of 1500 base for the Adventurer category and 1000 base for the Traveler category. If you do not like your team&;s score, please take time to check for possible errors, and to make sure you have addressed the challenge(s). Bonuses will become harder to get as we progress, although we will try our best never to subtract from the base scores due to the high overall quality of your efforts.</p>

apparently the judges didn't understand or like our vehicle making skills. They just don't understand us. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
I don't think anyone understands us Silver Legends...not even ourselves most of the time. LOL
we are just a sad misunderstood rag tag group of misfits.
heh. I said we forgot to add the engine. and it couldn't be all 'magic and wind'. ah well. grin. who needs a vehicle, when we can just pop in when we need to? (or fly by smoke?) LOL and
Why do I see the whole popping in or flying by smoke backfiring though?
New scores are up! Rowan, could you send me a note telling my team what we might do better? We're getting the full chapter score, but some of us are lusting after those bonus points. ^.^
EDIT: I'm particularly curious about the vehicle challenge, and what prompted the bonuses for that.

I'm also very unhappy that we're not getting bonus points. I feel like we're being shortchanged and we are trying so hard :( :/
It'd be nice if all the teams were given some sort of an idea before we put forth our RPs/designs/etc as to what the judges would be looking for in regards to how we can earn bonus points instead of us just guessing at what they want and not succeeding. It's very disheartening.
They don't have to tell us everything, but at least give us some idea for each chapter so that we can actually have some recipe for success instead of making our own up and failing. I'm not referring to the base challenge, either, but what the judges look for on top of that. This would be for everyone, not just us. Even a vague idea would be nice.

In regards to another post here,I just wanted to say that most people who have participated before know what the judges look for to get bonus points,Can't just be expected to be handed bonus points for free. Working for them is the whole point and it ticks me off to see someone say they want it easier for them,It's like they don't want to put forth the effort and that just rubs me the wrong way.

Our team didn't get bonus points either. But that is just the way it is. The judges didn't feel we deserved bonus this round. It is what it is. Just got to try harder next time.
I am a bit disappointed, don't get me wrong, but just means we have to work harder that is all.

Putting in also, this event is for fun, and to have a good time. To me the points are just a bonus.
