Yeah, I just read his email. How big a deal would it be to change to make things php 5.5 compliant?
: The issue isn't really php 5.5 compliance (I tried to be diplomatic in the email, but I'm pretty sure ASO is mistaken on that point) -- but they clued me in as to what the real issue might be. Let's wait and see if this last email clears things up.
Seems it did not clear it up for Doug, lol.
:
(1) Memcached is working again -- this speeds things up a little behind the scenes during peak times.
(2) Tomorrow's the last day of Masquerade. I'd really like to release the event shop-vs-checklists page before the event's over. I understand not everyone in here likes it, but I've made two more changes in response to your feedback:
First, the account search buttons are on the same page with the items and not a click away. Second -- and this is the big one -- the toggle code is fixed so that you can toggle multiple checklists without getting stuck on the "sorry, you need to wait" message and having to refresh between toggles; now that I've found a fix for that bug, I've gone ahead and fixed the item pages where that was happening, too.
Any objections?
I don't necessarily find it as functional as it could be. What immediately comes to mind is that it would be nice to be able to further sort the one an initial selection is made. For instance, I select steamworks 2017 and there are 13 pages of items. It would be nice to be able to narrow it down to all the books so I can mark them off for each pet I read to.
I understand that is probably not the way you foresaw it being used but I think we need to be able to use it in multiple ways. I personally don't use a custom checklist for events that have actual shops. I would be more likely to for something like morostide where items are found in drips and drabs.
I also understand that you probably wish I had brought this up earlier. Honestly, since your redo I have sat staring at it many many times trying to figure out how it would be useful for me.
Having said all of that, I am not necessarily opposed to it being released in a "beta" way where we ask users for feedback on how they would use it or what they would like to have it do.
Don't hate me!
I, personally, really like this and think it would be super useful and used. It would make my life easier when dealing with adding multiple items to checklists from events.
Eh, no more than usual. ;)
I appreciate the feedback -- and certainly don't mind working on new features for this as we go along. I put a lot of time into making sure the items appear in the same order that they appear in the corresponding shop on Subeta, so that you can essentially go line by line and compare the list on SubetaLodge with the actual shop. (That's one reason why I haven't focused on filtering, because for me, keeping the items in the correct corresponding order was important.)
That said, I've put some filters on the page now. You can filter just the books -- there's still 13 pages, because the filtering is done after the pagination -- but you can change the filtering without having to wait for the page to reload.
I think that it's ok to release the the event shop-vs-checklists page, it may look like a rush but as everything these days, first we release, later we work on improving.. also it would be very important and useful to see the feedback from the users and see if they actually like it and use it.
Okay. Is there a way to make it so the selection we make holds from page to page?
Is this sustainable? Is it a meticulous process that is going to happen every year for every event or something that is able to be automated? If it is not automated, what happens when you are no longer with us?
Now, that's not so hard for the 2017 items. But let's say that I have some trinkets left over, and want to spend them on the 2013 items. 2013 was one of the years I missed, so I definitely didn't buy any items that year -- but I might have picked some up from the Free Shop, gotten some as Luminaire presents, etc. From this page, I can see exactly how many items I'm still missing from the 2013 collection without having to look through each checklist one at a time.
There aren't any shops that sort different years in different ways, so this will be automatable in the sense of adding 2018 links. Not so automatable if Subeta creates a new shop, or when they move old plot event shops over to the Antique shop.
Seriously, though, this is the very last day of the current event. I'd like something a little more than "not necessarily opposed", but if that's the best I can get, I'll take it.
That's a different (but related) project. Before I can have an admin page that lets IA's edit multiple items on one page, I needed to be able to have a page that loaded multiple items on one page in a way that I could 'hook' features into it (like edit boxes or checklist toggles). The work I did on this list will carry over to that project in a pretty big way.
The 'user' version of this page is focused on event checklists (something I was inspired to do because we're currently in an event and it was something I wanted to see), but the code is more flexible than that. Here is a list of Antique Victorian Trunk items in the same format.
What I need to do for admins is hook in edit fields in place of checklist toggles -- and then we'll have something closer to what you were envisioning. That'll take a little longer to do right (you need to build in safeguards when writing to the database that you don't need while reading from it), but the groundwork is in place. I hadn't forgotten about your project, Georgie -- what I've built so far is preliminary work towards that.
Umm discovered whilst checking out the trunk page and checked on the event pages...the links don't function as they should. the add to wishlist doesn't. user shop, account search etc only take you to those pages on subeta but don't input the item name
yup, thanks for the quick fix!
why are you soaking your feet?
OMG OF COURSE I am stupid
I'm not sure if you can sort what's going on or not, but every time I want to post on the SL forum, I have to log in and out of the main SL site, then re-log into the forums (and sometimes I have to do it multiple times). I get this message:
Trying to log out and back in on the forums themselves doesn't work either, I get this error message:
