That would be even better than a games con (and Bonn isn't that far from me either) so you could definitely count me in if you'd decide to held a meeting at ringcon! :)
Also the reason we slowed down on them (and didn't let MMs or regular users host them) is we had a few conflicts at them that required staff to resolve (and only because we could say "You can't come to another meetup or we will ban your account on Subeta due to your behavior") and made it very clear this was a thing we couldn't put in other users hands without taking a huge risk.

So some people only attended a meeting to behave like trolls? Super uncool and embarrassing. Can't blame you for being more cautious now. :x
Oh Disneyland! I'll look forward to it .. unless it's this summer, then I'm screwed x.x
That's horrible to hear. The meetings should be an enjoyable experience for everyone, especially since it is already stressful meeting with online users in actual person.
I'd still love to attend a meetup (may I suggest one for next spring, for DC's cherry blossoms extravaganza? I think it's too late now), but online drama needs to stay online. Don't bring that shit out in public.

Why not have some sort of like big video conference type "meet-up"? I've never done them but I'm assuming something like Google Hangouts or Skype or some other video chat service. Wouldn't quite be the same as meeting people in real life, but it would allow meet-ups to happen more often and allow more people to attend. I'd imagine there would have to be a limit to how many people can be on one call at a time but hell if I know for sure.

In terms of having them at conventions, as someone who's been going to cons for 10+ years, I think it's also a good idea to look at smaller local cons. Like, I live in upstate New York, so logically people would think "oh how about NYCC". But actually NYC is extremely hard to get to and NYCC is so huge and busy and insane. Like, there's a much smaller local con I go to (that's gotten bigger over the years though), which would be perfect for a meetup-type thing because it's a much more manageable size, and might be easier for people to get to. There's also a decently-sized one in Hartford, CT, each year.
I get that bigger cities are more likely to get more people but I like to think in terms of expenses for the common member here - smaller cons are pretty much always less expensive, and easier for people who have shyness/anxiety issues as well, or those who haven't been to conventions before. :)
WHY DOES NO STAFFER LIVE AROUND HOUSTON.
Texas... land of MMs and ex-staff :c
I can totally understand the whole.. liability thing though.. I kinda remember that (or another, kinda assuming there was only one incident, assuming slash hoping |DD) entire ordeal and wow was that ever uncomfortably and extremely awkward and I fully understand the desire to not have such a thing happen again. However, this might be one of those things that had merit based on good intentions but would be better off retired (if only for the time being).
Being at places like cons = baww subeta is pay2play to get this achievement I have to go to a con and tickets are stuff and money and things I'm upset about, so if that's the best option, yeah.
Psst. What con? Upstate is surprisingly a large chunk of NY.
And yes, I'd love to go to a meetup but it isn't really possible for me with no car or money. I'd love to have a meetup at the huge mall Destiny USA, but I think that suggestion was shot down.
To be perfectly honest, if I was going to spend money on a ticket to go to a con I wouldn't want to hang out at Subeta's booth for an hour just for an achievement.

Why am I not surprised that there were conflicts that staff had to resolve? -.- Can these people not act like adults for one day?
Not everyone can afford Disney tickets. Try saying its the happiest place on earth when you find out their cost.
I thought this was interesting. I forgot..can you eject people from groups though? Hopefully they do. I'd hate for it to have to end immediately because a troll couldn't be taken out of the group.
If a MM or UA were the host of the call or chat, then yeah they could kick out people that are acting up. I can't imagine ending the whole thing because of one person or a couple people.

I was soo hoping someone would mention Texas, haha! I would, of course, be interested in going to one if it were feasible. So -- Texas. I'd travel somewhere, but the destination and timing would have to be ideal.

That's why we met up outside of Disneyland in the Downtown Disney area. :)
Well, there goes the possibility of me hosting one in Hell for you lot, damn !
(Oh, another Disney one would be cool, mayhaps I'd be able to actually make it)
People come to hang out with other Subeta users, that's the whole point of hosting meetups. I don't think anyone has come to one that I've run, added themselves to the list of people who need the achievement, and immediately left. You hung around for way more than an hour at the one in London, I think!
In my experience (and I was just at PAX in Boston, one of the biggest conventions of the year) I really enjoy going to the booths for small/indie games that I enjoy (which is the same small section that Subeta would be in) and chatting about them.
