I believe that at some point in the adventure we will all need to play the more modern version of our character class, but you can make your character lean heavily towards classic mage if you want and when it comes time to do the Technomancer stuff, that can be part of your roleplay that you struggle with some of it because it isn't your focus/is newer to you than classic magic. Or you can ask for our help if you need to when it comes to that point. Basically...build your character and their skills around what you feel comfortable with and we'll make sure we handle whatever curves GR throws our way as a team :)
