I do have a list of names I am stalking. All the ones I went for I got, but then again I don't have a clue if anyone else was stalking them as well. I got "News" today and "Whoot" last month. I've never really been going for a fanpet name or real name though. I hope to keep on being that successful with the names I desire ^^

I've never tried to snag a name for a friend yet, due to a lack of pet slots. And nobody ever tried to help me with any of the names I wanted, since I want my pets to have the same date of birth and date of adoption. So yeah, lonely pet business for me xD

I've never tried to grab one right after clearing except for Balloonatic, and I doubt anyone else wanted it... but I snatched it up just in case ;) I found Blimp and Drifblim after they had already cleared, and those are names I absolutely love!

I haven't really snagged a name recently but also haven't been actively looking. Then again, I don't have any open slots. I do have one name in mind that I would be tempted to make room for, but I can't tell at all how active the user actually is. So I dunno if I'm wasting my time or not xD

The last clearing snag I can think of is for my pet, Chili. Getting that name for me was a huge deal because that is the name of my dog that passed away a couple years ago. I had wanted that name ever since I joined the site and finally got it seven years later so that was a pretty epic day.

Other than that...I haven't really had a name snag. I have been too slow for them. Back when names were cleared at once on a particular day and time, I always missed out on my top choices (including Chili). Regardless, I can't think of a name that I really want that doesn't belong to an active user at the moment.

oh god i used to go through name lists constantly looking for rns because they're my favorite and also the only thing that works for my characters. i spent a ton of time just checking to see what's coming up or what might be coming up eventually. but i filled most of my slots up with names i absolutely adore and started working and just didn't have much spare time for it. it's super super rare for me to go after any names at this point, or even know that they're going to be clearing omfg. any name-snagging mojo i had completely died and i couldn't tell you the last time i snagged a name for myself, or even which name it was, but luckily i have a few fabulous and talented friends that have helped me out with the names i just ajskdf;asd could not live without.

I didn't used to, but there's a fandom name I really want to grab in the next couple of days when it clears - unfortunately I don't know if I can part with any of my pets to make room for it :/

I've got a pretty big list of names right now, and I've gotten about 2-3 recently that I totally love :) Though I really feel like most of the names I want, people don't really care about. I mean, Cosplay is my most recently and I was literally able to wait a day before I got it (I was on the fence about it) My other recent one was Help and I really doubt anyone would've wanted that, but I had that one in mind for over 6 months, So I fucking love it

I habe a pretty small list I am still stalking but most of that names are very populular or on active accounts. Some are even drom subeta buddies =)

The last names I snagged are Milan and Jamie and I was able to get Champion, Vault and Reaver in earlier clearings (which are the more popular names I got).

Sadly I missed out on a name I really wanted some days ago.. sad face

I also was able to get names for friends.. So I allways try to help when I have the space.

Anyways, I regularly stalk 2 names which are on those inactively active accounts. Otherwise, I randomly check inactive accounts when I'm bored, and I got a shit ton of "leftover" names. I'm trying not to go for the 3pm-on-the-dot-snagging-thing anymore since I'm too old for that sucky stress xD.

I missed out on Destiny, when it cleared shrugs I did get some of my real world names from recent clears.

The last name I tried to snag was Cadence and I got it. Still sad about missing Odyssey, but meh, life goes on.

I used to look for stuff that was clearing for kicks, but now I'll just look around the time of my loyalty box just in case, since I'm less active than I used to be.

A couple of years ago, Nancy was set to clear on my Subie anniversary, but the owner logged in with like a month to go. Last year, though, she DID clear, and I managed to get her an hour after the clearing slot, when I remembered that was what I'd needed to do.

I think that's my only new system grab, though I could be wrong. Old grabs include She, and Jonathan (by proxy; I told the previous owner the name had cleared, and when she no longer wanted him, she offered him to me)

I think. I'm walking along the street. And suddenly, I realize that I've just got to have the name Hickory or I'll die. So I wait for x number of months or years and attempt to grab it. And then roll around on the floor like a blissful idiot or cry in the bathtub.

... And then three days later I'll be walking down the street, and suddenly I really have to have Hrothgar.

And the cycle repeats.

At any given time I'll have one to two names that I'm keeping tabs on, but the list stays small somehow. I only end up competing in two to three clearings a year. My last baby was Amati.

I've been lucky in snagging names in the past-- nothing too amazing, just fandom-related names I guess not many others were interested in. I have one I've been following for the past six months or so that I should be able to grab in another two months or so. The inactive notice that comes up two months prior hasn't gone up yet but it's close. I got another pet slot today (three year anniversary yesterday, woo!) so I'm saving that one just for this, as I REALLY want this name. Another one I'm more casually keeping tabs on I can't tell how long the user has been away and they don't seem to do anything on the site anymore (and haven't since 2013) but their account isn't listed as inactive/up for grabs so they must be logging on every now and then just to stop that from happening.

I haven't actively checked accounts for clearing in ages. If anything, suddenly I get an urge to check a certain pet name, and I look whether it's anything close to clearing. This is how I got the grand majority of names that I did from clearings. Then again, some of those are also names I randomly checked and turned out to be free, who knows for how long.

I suppose I must piss some people off because I keep 'hoarding' some popular/semi-popular names, like Green or Beelzebub. I'm not much of a writer or artist to get anything for their profiles, but I do have some story in mind for most of my pets.

I've snagged a few names, usually ones that are more unusual, or that people normally don't think about.

However, I feel like I should say something about the whole "snagging a pet name for a friend" deal: I don't agree with it. In my view, it's unfair to other people who may be very interested in the name themselves. I also view it as cheating, sort of, but that's just my personal view. I would personally NEVER snag a name (or a bunch) simply because my friend was busy at work. Sorry, but if you snooze, you loose, and besides, it's just a name: it's not the end of the world. I've also seen that there are some people who tend to hoard pets/names and let them sit and stagnate, and never do anything with their stats/profiles/TC/etc.

I have a short list with rl and rw names I really would like to have (I try to get more rl names). In general I have been lucky with name clearings and sometimes when I didn't get the name I wanted then I tried to look for a name that's close or just another one haha. To me name clearings are just a game, you either lose or you win. The last time I won with Clint ❤️ and I hope soon to catch another name I really want.

I personaly don't see it as cheating, when you try to get a name for a friend to make them happy. It is nothing else than getting a pet out of the pound for somone, who can't adopt right now (cause of space issues or similar). You still have to try for the name and you don't take the chances of others away to try for that name as well.. they still have the chance.

Yeah there are a lot of people who exactly do nothing with a pet.. and keep them nearly all as common kumos. I do not like it, cause it allways has this feel of "I got me the name so no one other can have it." but there is nothing I can do about it.. only feel sad for the names and the people that really would have done somthing with that names (like Profiles, etc.)

During the first name clearing I managed to snag both Creator and Military just by randomly searching available real words, hadn't stalked them beforehand. Creator was rehomed as I couldn't come up with a character for him, and somebody snatched Military's name after I went inactive for a couple years (no hard feelings, it's fair game; I renamed him William Wallace, which is the character's actual name so all's fine).

I'm not stalking any names at the moment, all the ones I wish I could grab are in fairly active accounts and I won't have the cash for another pet slot anytime soon anyway. :'D
