Even though Díse had warned her the banshee was near, Irith still got surprised by the sudden attack, she quickly tried to move away from the banshee, a bit confused after hearing the terrible sound, but still able to think about her actions. She covered her ears with her hands, knowing that she would have to find something else to cover them, cause she needed her hands to fight the banshee. She would never be able to fight the banshee if she couldn´t get away from the scream first though.

Fight In her mind she quickly went over every item she had with her, not coming up with anything to cover her ears at all. She began to think that her adventure for the Bifröst pieces would come to an end here, but then she suddenly remembered her purple belt. She tore off a piece of the fabric, pushed that in her ears quickly, blocking the sounds of the banshee. Now she knew that she would at least have a chance against the banshee. She still had to come up with an actual plan to do so though. Irith looked up to the sky, knowing that Zarith would be there somewhere. She knew that Zarith wouldn’t be able to come closer, since he would get affected by the scream of the banshee too, but Zarith had always been her support in life. Whenever she didn’t know what to do, she would turn to him for back-up. At this point she really needed him, cause she didn’t have a plan at all, but unfortunately this time she had to work alone. Irith tried to remember if she ever heard anything about weaknesses of a banshee and with that a plan got shaped into her head. She grabbed her herb bag and quickly began to throw things together in a small jar she always carried around in her bag too, trying to create spells as quickly as she could. When she had done that, she whistled for Zarith, knowing that he would come down, even though it would be dangerous for him, but she needed him only for a little bit. She looked up and saw that Zarith came flying towards her as quickly as he could, he had almost reached the banshee, when she saw the banshee opened her mouth, she knew that the banshee had made a screaming noise, when she saw that Zarith was backing off again. With the banshee now looking at Zarith flying away, Irith threw her herbs towards the banshee. “Create a dark place, here and now. Form a distraction, so that I can say ciao” she said out loud. She knew that it wasn’t the best spell she ever used, but it was all she had at the moment and she needed the Shadow Cloak spell. The spell gave her the ability to stay hidden in the shadows. As she got closer to the banshee, she saw how the banshee tried to get away from her, which made her realize the information she had remembered about the banshee was correct. She didn’t like nights, shadows.
She tried to get as close as she could, before using another set of herbs. “With fists of fire, I will stay alive. Give me a moment, in which I can survive”. One of her hands quickly caught fire, because of the Pyre spell she used, but because of it being a spell, her hand didn’t hurt at all. The shadows she created faded away, but she was so close to the banshee, which had gotten confused of the shadows too, that she pushed her hand on the banshee’s shoulder, which caught fire immediately. With that Irith knew that she had defeated the banshee. She looked up to the sky and saw that Zarith was coming down for her and then he landed on her shoulder. Irith removed the pieces of cloth from her ears. “We did it” she said to Zarith.

Quote by Hlin
Hlin suppressed a scream. She had learned a few combat tricks, but they depended on stealth, not direct confrontation. She turned to Eddo, hoping his magical voice could help here, and it did. The little fox drew himself up and emitted a haunting keening that wouldn&;t deafen the banshee, but would work on the two girls and Odin, as well as his own being. The howl was exhausting for him and it was doubtful he could manage a second one before the banshee was upon them all.

Hlin looked desperately at Adris, hoping her more skilled friend was prepared to do battle. And she was. Adris ordered Hlin to take the companions to safety and drew her sword.

Hlin began a prayer to her goddess to keep Adris safe. Although it made her feel helpless, it was the best she could do.

Quote by Adris
I glanced at Hlin. “Be swift, get to a safe distance!” Hlin retreated with our companions. She had Eddo emit a haunting howl that deafened Odin, Hlin, himself and even myself though he was further away. It would fade but it would give me time to face this hag on my own. I drew my sword from its sheath. It had been a while since I had wielded my sword and I was glad of the chance. A Viking I was at heart. I spun my sword and licked my lips. A battle, a glorious battle. The runes on my arms warmed as my magic started building. I would not use much of it, for I preferred hand to hand combat if I could.

I jumped up the rocks near me, higher into the nearby mountain and further way from my friend. If Hlin and our pets were safe then I would not be distracted. The banshee followed me and floated to my right. She wailed but thanks to Eddo, I did not hear her shriek. I slashed at her with my sword, giving her a shallow cut on her leg. The greenish blood dripped and then the wound closed. Damn it.

Her nails slashed at me. She slit my face with those razor sharp nails. The blood rolled down my cheek. It wouldn’t heal like her wound did. I felt dizzy, but I stayed upright by sheer will. I hacked my sword at her wildly. But she knocked me backwards with her arm. I fell hard on the ground. Her arms gripped around me and she wailed for all she was worth. Blood trickled out of my nose and ears….

I remember when the banshee came to my house. Petra, my older brother, was taken from the black sickness. Then she wailed one cold winter night and took my baby sister. Every time this fiend appeared she took my family one by one. Her song had haunted my dreams and had led me to leave the draughty empty halls of my old home. Oh how I hate that creature. She could not take the last of my line. I felt my ancestors watch around me. One by one, their spirits stood beside me. They spoke to me. They filled me with their love and strength and I broke the banshee’s grip and kicked her backwards into a rock.

I felt my powers soar higher than I had ever felt them. She was the omen of death and all of my line was there beside me, amplifying my powers. “I am Adris Naoniaw,” I shouted. “I hail from the Borderlands. I watched my family die one by one but by my gods, you will NOT take me. By my ancestors you will NOT take me.” My power whirled and lifted me in the air. Had I not been battling for my life, I would have been a little awed. As it was rage was in my eyes. The banshee recovered and floated to me shrieking, but there was no power in her wail now—I had my gods and my ancestors protecting me. We both landed as if it had been planned. I took the moment, I knew what to do. I arced my sword high and sliced off her head. Her body crumpled before me. The green blood splattered on me, some bubbling dents into my armour. I was so glad I was wearing my armour. I fell to my knees, exhausted. My father’s voice came to me, “We are proud of you Adris.” Then one by one they slowly disappeared. I hadn’t heard Hlin and our pets race up to me. I felt so drained and my eyes were blurry, but I still smiled at the sweet girl—happy she was safe.

A banshee? Now this was something Howl could handle. Despite the fact that he didn't love fighting, he felt relieved to be back on firm ground, dealing with something familiar. He quickly worked out a plan. "Calcifer, let's do this."

Howl knew the first thing he needed to do was protect his ears. Now was not the time to worry about appearances -- he ripped two strips off his sleeves with only a twinge of regret, and stuffed them in his ears as a temporary measure so he could gain a little time. The sound was muffled but not drowned out, but he'd expected this, and now reached into his bag of spell ingredients. Wax in the form of candles was something that cropped up in all sorts of casting, and he quickly broke off two chunks and kneaded them into earplugs, replacing the strips of cloth once he was done. Calcifer was crackling loudly, and since he wasn't mortal that interference was enough to all but eliminate the effects of the banshee's screams. The blue flame had also started burning very brightly, creating enough light to keep the monster back, away from Howl.

Now to deal with her. With Calcifer's help, Howl threw a few fireballs at her. But the thing was /fast/, dodging easily. But then he recalled what they'd done about the horse, and had an idea. He grabbed a stick and ran a wide ring, drawing a line behind him. Then he stood so that the ring was between him and the banshee. "Calcifer, dim back to normal, would you? I need her to come towards me." Howl's voice was a bit loud, since he couldn't actually hear himself, but that was okay. Once Calcifer was no longer so bright, the banshee rushed him. But as soon as she was in the ring, Howl set it on fire, making sure the flames were hot and high. "Burn her out, Calcifer." And with that, they started shrinking the ring, until the banshee could no longer withdraw from the flames.

Amarantha took a step back. A battle? It had been a long, long, long time since she's had to do something like this. Steeling herself, she nodded to Cobalt.

battle Cobalt charged forward towards the banshee which Amarantha stood back. As the creature's attention shifted to Cobalt, Amarantha eyed a large rock on the ground and picked it up. While Cobalt ran around the monster in cicles, occasionally lunging forward with bared teeth or swiping with his paws, Amarantha crept forwards slowly as to not attract attention. When she was close, Cobalt focused his attacks from one direction, leaving the monster's back to Amarantha. As Cobalt growled and slashd amid doding blows Amarantha snuck up right behind the monster and smashed her as hard as she could over the head with the rock. The creature fell forward and Cobalt pounced on her back, holding the unconcious spirit down. As Amarantha gagged and then tied the unconcious creature's limbs to the ground securely, Cobalt snatached up the piece in his mouth. "I detest killing - so this will do nicely." Amarantha murmered as she finished her job before checking Cobalt over for injuries. "Those ropes won't hold forever and I'd rather not be here when she gets free...let's be on our way quickly."

Talwyn yelped as she barely managed to duck out of the banshee’s way. “Someone’s not in a good mood today!” The pixie commented. The Banshee released an unearthly screech in response. The trio clapped their hands over their ears futilely. “I’ll take that as a yes!” Talwyn yelped. The Banshee let out another earsplitting scream. The pixie could feel the blood rushing to her ears. Talwyn rushed to think of a solution, but only drew a blank. “Come on… Come on, Talwyn! Think!” What could something so vile be destroyed by? The Banshee swept down from the sky and screamed shrilly, right next to Talwyn’s ear. Already, the pixie’s legs were wobbly from the excruciating mental pain. Her vision blurred. Talwyn couldn’t take much more of this. ‘G-Gilbert…’ She weakly called out to her companion. There was no audible response. One last time, the Banshee released a piercing scream at its target. Talwyn’s vision dimmed, and she collapsed in a graceless heap. ‘Is this… the end? Is this… how I’ll die?’ The pixie’s thoughts swam through the muffled sounds of ungodly screeching and a struggle. Slowly, even those sounds began to fade. ‘… No… But I can’t die… not yet…’ The pixie desperately grasped for her friends who weren’t there. She paused.

Talwyn Defeats the Banshee Wait. Was that… …Mud? She was barely able to wiggle her fingers around, but she could feel the cool, slippery mud. ‘…Maybe… if I try hard enough… I can get some into my ears…’ The pixie reasoned. After much struggle, Talwyn was able to move her arms enough to stick the thick mud in her ears. ‘…There… That should be enough to at least block her awful screams out.’ Talwyn slowly sat up, and cracked her neck. Her senses trickled back to her one by one, just in time for her to see Gilbert and Díse pass out from the Banshee’s piercing screeches. The vile creature then turned around to face her final target. Talwyn glared at the death omen. She glared back at the pixie. “Bring it on, hag.” Talwyn gritted her teeth as she slid into a fighting stance. Without warning, the Banshee faded into the shadows. Talwyn gaped. “W-What the hell?” She furrowed her brows. There was no way she could beat the Banshee without seeing where it was, without light. “Damn it… the cordelian rose would’ve been a great help here.” The pixie lamented. Oh well. There was no time to waste. She would make light the old-fashioned way. Talwyn dumped the remainder of her dusty herbs on dry ground. “Incendius!” Talwyn commanded, and a flame lept out of her outstretched palm, setting the dry leaves on fire. A warm orange glow lit the vicinity. Then, echoed the sordid shriek of the Banshee. “AAAAAUUUUGH!” It clawed at its haggard face, uselessly trying to defend itself from the light. Talwyn smirked. “Bingo.” With the snap of her fingers, she levitated the burning leaves from the pile and hurled them directly at the death omen. The Banshee shrieked and tried to scramble away, but it was already too late. The ignited herbs hit her all at once. The ragged spirit gave one final, vehement wail as she slowly burned out of existence. The final testament to the Banshee’s existence, a lonely Bifröst splinter, dropped onto the ground, but Talwyn paid it no heed and instead rushed to her friends’ side and eagerly awaited their awakening. She would have time to get it later.

He heard Ambrose hiss and screech before he saw the banshee coming at him. Cronus had only read about banshees in books--very old books--and thought they were the stuff of legends. He barely had time to back away before the banshee had a chance to touch him.

Psychological Battle of the Past He scrambled to tear off part of his cloak to stuff in his ears to drown out at least some of the screaming. He wasnt for sure if the screams would kill him or not (he'd read that the screams of a banshee meant someone is about to die, but many accounts differed about the screams killing you) but it was better to be safe than sorry. Cronus then drew his rapier and pointed it at the wailing hag. He would rather not fight but adrenaline kicked in and his body locked itself in a fight or flight mode. His training in the royal army taught him to never flee or turn your back on your enemy, so he faced his foe head on. From the corner of his eye, he could see Ambrose flying in erratic circles. He was waiting to see what his master would do. Either that or he was thrown into confusion by the screams. Cronus swallowed hard. He would rather have his magical tomes with him in this fight. He could fight with a sword, but he felt more comfortable shooting out magic at a distance rather than close-quarter combat.

The banshee came at Cronus again, but this time instead of backing away, he ducked out of the way while making a slash at her. For a split second, his back was turned to her. When he turned back around to face her, he didnt see the banshee that appeared moments ago, he saw a half-rotted image of his mother. Cronus stopped in his tracks and stared flabbergasted and in horror. Suddenly he could hear his mother's accusations and put-downs in his mind. But it was as if the figure in front of him spoke the words.

"You are just as bad as your father", "Instead of wasting your life serving in the royal army, you should stay and take care of me, it is your duty!".She was angry. The transfigured image of his mother in front of him drew nearer, holding her hand out to him as he stood there helplessly frozen in fear and shock.

"You're so selfish, Cronus." "Are you really willing to put your life on the line for people who could stab you in the back?", "Dont leave me to die all alone, Cronus.", "It is your duty to take care of me,". Now she was pleading with him. Part of his mind urged him to move, but the part of his brain responsible for moving his body was not working. He wanted to position his rapier, but his arm would not move. The rotted hand was close to his face now. The putrid smell of the figure filled his nostrils, threatening to choke him. He could hear screeching, but the mother/banshee's mouth was not moving in a way that it could emit such a noise.

Suddenly the mother/banshee threw her head up and screamed, little sparks of electricity surrounding her. CRO---NUS! MA---ER! Sn-----ut! He heard someone shout in his mind. He shook his head and looked around. He saw Ambrose who was emitting small sparks of electricity from his mouth. The little dragon then looked at him and he heard the voice in his head again, urging him to act. This time it sounded more complete, Snap out of it! He was amazed that Ambrose was able to communicate telepathically with him. But he had time to ponder that later. Finding his strength again, he brandished his rapier, poised to strike the banshee while she still recoiled from Ambrose's attack. Something shined on the ground at his feet as he leered at his target, about to bring the weapon down on her. Instead of killing the banshee, he bent down to pick up the shard and beat a hasty retreat with his dragon and Dise before the banshee could recover from the electricity attack.

Vár reared in panic, his eyes wide with surprise and fear. Alanna quickly drew her bow, aiming it right at the Banshee while trying to calm her faithful horse. "Whoa boy... down!" His eyes were still wide but his attention was now on her. Good. "Damn it... Mal! Are you alright?" She inquired after her friend, taking her eyes off the target for a moment to check. "Díse! Your guidance would be good about now!" Alanna called out to the goddess, who seemed to be unaffected by the whole thing. It appeared that the Banshee had no interest in attacking Díse and was focused on the two of them.

~~~~~
"I'm ok!" Mal called back as she brushed herself off. "Man... she must be on her monthlies! Attacking us for no reason like that. We didn't even get a word in." It appeared that the Banshee had heard Mal's comment because seconds later, she lurched towards Mal with a shriek, her hands arms outstretched. "Whoa... help!!! Alanna!" Mal scrambled to keep herself out of reach of the mad shrieking woman, her fingers in her ears as she tried to block out the painful sound.
WHOOSH Mal felt a familiar breeze flow down her head and back and turned to look behind her. "Wash! No! Get away from her!!!" The Banshee's face was obscured by a flurry of feathers, her own hands trying to protect her face from the fierce beak and talons of the big bird. Wash screeched loudly as he tried to slash at the Banshee with everything he got. "WASH!!!" Mal tried desperately to call the bird back before he got seriously hurt. The Banshee kept protecting her face when her eyes changed and she suddenly lashed out at Wash, knocking him away from her.
"Hey! You ugly bitch! Pick on someone your own size!" Mal taunted the Banshee to draw her attention away from the recovering Wash. "Uh oh..." Mal found herself cornered as the Banshee advanced on her. A river was right behind her so backing away was not an option. Going left or right was just going to lead her right within reach of the wailing woman who was now way too close for comfort. "Uhh... Alanna!!!" Mal tried to fish for a weapon as the Banshee came closer, grinning evilly at the knowledge her prey had nowhere to go. "Ahhhhh!!!" Mal tried to bat away at the rotten green hands reaching for her. "HELP!!!!"
~~~~~

"HEY!" The Banshee instinctively turned to face the direction of the shout - just in time for something fiery to graze her ravaged cheek as it shot right past her at lightning speed. The hag screeched in pain and surprise, her hand covering the wound on her face. Alanna had already nocked another arrow tipped with flames at the Banshee. "The next one is not going to miss. If you quietly give us the shard now, you have my word I won't set you on fire." Alanna's voice was strong and steady. "Give us the shard and we will leave you alone. NOW."

The Banshee's wild eyes became positively rabid and Alanna knew she wasn't going to give up. The ugly green-skinned hag grinned, her mouth toothless. She then began to draw her breath in deeply. "Shit! EVERYONE COVER YOUR EARS!" Alanna shouted to the group, her arrow quivering on her bow.

~~~~~
"Hey sweetheart." Still in the middle of taking in a large amount of air, the Banshee turned to face Mal who had crept up right behind her. "You forgot about me." Mal swung her fist up from out of nowhere and suckerpunched the hag right where the solar plexus was. The punch knocked the wind right out of the Banshee, who couldn't even gasp for breath as she fell forward right into Mal's swinging elbow as it lands square into her jaw. The monster managed a faint "Ugh..." before she finally keeled over, knocked out.
"Hmph... I sure showed her." Mal cracked her fingers, smiling in satisfaction. "Hopefully the next time, she won't be so quick to fly off the handle and actually listen to what someone has to say." She smoothly bent down and picked up the piece of the rainbow bridge from the prone Banshee. "Ta-da!!!" Mal brandished the shard triumphantly and grinned. Alanna smiled and shook her head slowly to herself as she put out the arrow and set her bow down. Only Mal would do something like that.
Late Again
As the Banshee carries on, Ratsel instinctively jumps in front of Stvena. It recounts what knowledge it has of the species to Stvena across their mental connection but suddenly finds the link has been broken. A glance back at the girl reveals that the Banshee's screams have already begun to take effect. "Ratsel..." it hears.
Stevna quickly attempts to find and connect with the conciousness of the Banshee but senses nothing. She reaches for her magical shield only to feel her senses collapse. she grasps for Ratsel as she falls to the ground...
Ratsel swoops under Stvena, growing large enough to catch her and shield her from the Banshee's shrieks. A misty cloud envelopes the Pair along with Dise and Stvena begins to come to. "Thank you, Ratsel." she says. "That Banshee has some voice!" she smirks weakly. "What do we do now?"
Ratsel knows the mist won't hold the Banshee out for long, but it is powerful enough to block the might of her shrieks. Thus it creates small bubbles of the mystical substance which float to all the cohort's ears. "These will block the power of the shriek, as well as dull the noise a bit. We can communicate with our thoughts as we won't be able to hear very well."
Just then the mist turns a sickly green and begins to fall away as if it were melting or dying. The Banshee bursts in looking as terrifying as ever and sounding only slightly less so. The group dives away and runs in separate directions to force the Banshee to make a decision.
While on the run, Ratsel repeats what he knows about Banshees, and Dise adds the rest of her knowledge to the mix. The Banshee has chosen to follow Stvena, but she is ready. She brandishes her shield and sword, fighting fiercely and dodging the claws of the phantom-like woman. "From what you two have told me, it sounds like we have exactly what we need. Ratsel, she has chosen me to chase, but this is your fight. I will hold her off as best I can and distract her, but a dragon's fire ought to do the trick."
The Banshee looks confused for a moment as she must have expected to make quick work of this pink creature as before and move on. She swoops up and turns to see about the others invading her territory but is met with a flame hotter and larger than she's seen in all her time. She flees into hiding back toward the river hiding in the fog. But not before dropping something. The three walk toward the it, glimmering through the mist...
Chapter 12 – Huginn and Muninn
Something strange happened when you beat Banshee in the end. The Bifröst splitter in her possession begins to glow like a firefly and floats away. You hurry to follow the sign, which leads you over mountains and valleys until you reach a pair of speaking ravens that fly all over the world and bring information to the god Odin: Huginn, from Old Norse thought, and Muninn, Old Norse for memory. They were fighting with each other. Very loud and very clearly. Whatever that might mean. You change a look with Díse, but she seems as perplex as you. So you decide to address the two well-known ravens. “Excuse me.” Huginn and Muninn don’t seem to care. “Excuse me.” You try again, this time a little bit louder. Not loud enough since the ravens continue their disputation. You start another try, when Díse let out a prominent whistle. For a moment, both Huginn and Muninn go quiet. “Much better.” She sighs. “Can you tell us what this quarrel is about?” One raven peers at you with abyssal ruby eyes. “We discuss who of us the faster flyer is. Huginn thinks he is, but I remember it being me.” That’s all? You wonder. A little difference of opinion? “Why not just say that both of you are equal fliers?” You suggest. But the ravens disagree. “We need to have one unique winner.” The other one caws. “We heard about your conciliator skills. Can you help us solve this argument? We know that you’re seeking a small splitter of Bifröst. If you found a solution that meets our requirement we will leave it to you.” Sounds like a plan.
It came as a surprise at first, to hear that someone else had heard of his skills through other means. He thought to himself on whether he had actually started a reputation through the odd series of tasks while trying to collect these Bifröst splitters. Cuinn wasn't quite sure if people were actually talking about him, but it was a different change of pace than the usual negative light he was met with.
"Bird issues", however, was something that he could say he had dealt with before. Not with talking birds though, this was different, but he supposed if all birds could talk they would quarrel about important matters such as these. His pet had made it quite clear with constant attempts to one-up him. Though he acknowledged it could just be his interpretation of things (last he recalled his pet couldn't actually talk), he could swear this would be a constant debate if his bird could respond in words.
Yes, these were very important debates indeed.
I decided to post this up ahead of the deadline so that we don't have to worry about it. Sorry! DX
Alanna frowned. This new task seemed simple enough. The only way she could see a resolution to the ravens' argument was to actually determine which of them flies faster. She patted Vár lightly and dismounted, fishing a carrot from her pocket for him to chew on as she moved closer to talk with Mal.
"Mal... something about this seems too easy." Alanna spoke quietly with her friend. "Wouldn't they have thought of it already? Instead of arguing about it?" Her head tilted a little to the side as she tried to think. "But then again, it doesn't seem like they had someone to mediate until we came along."
~~~~~

Mal stroked Wash affectionately as she cooed at him, apparently not listening to Alanna. "You're the fastest flier around aren't you Washie-boy!" Upon hearing her comment, Huginn and Muninn stopped arguing and turned to stare at her. Mal noticed the sudden quiet and looked up from tending to her bird.

"What?" She was answered by the two ravens now directing their insults towards her and Wash, who reacted with an indignant squawk. The whole place was now in an uproar as the ravens fought with Mal and each other while Mal yelled insults back at them as she tries to keep Wash from striking at them in anger.

"Ok ok, STOP!" Alanna interrupted them and all attention turned to her. "This argument can easily be resolved if you would listen to me. That includes you, Mal." She gave her friend a silencing look as Mal opened her mouth to argue. She turned to look at the ravens. "Now... we all want to find out which of you flies faster. I believe I have the solution."

Irith was glad Díse whistled to get the two birds quiet, because she was already starting to get a headache from their quarrel. She knew she had to do something about this situation quickly, because she couldn’t stand being with Huginn and Muninn for too long, who knew birds could be this awful. Irith took a glimpse at Zarith, that was flying in the sky above her. She was glad she had the silent type of a bird. She walked away from Huginn and Muninn for a bit, knowing that she would never be able to think in their presence. To complete their challenge she really needed to be able to think though, since this would be a hard one. “How am I supposed to say who is faster” she said out loud. She noticed that Zarith came flying down and while she saw him flying in the sky, she instantly got an idea. She walked back to Huginn and Muninn.

There had to be a catch. This was so simple, compared to the other tasks, that Howl thought something was fishy. And it turned out there was a catch, but it was minor. Could this truly be everything? Keeping an eye out for new developments, Howl rummaged in his bag and conferred with Calcifer.

Elethia considered the two ravens skeptically. Hmm...both of these birds possesses qualities similar to the other, but what could set them apart to figure out the fastest one? she pondered. Obviously telling them that she would get back to them later is sadly not one of her options. One of them had to be considered as the true victor to settle the ongoing argument. Offending one of Odins ravens is not something high up on her list of priorities, but it looks like she might not have a choice. "Hmm...perhaps this would work." Elethia murmured

At least this is better and safer than getting the last shard... Cronus thought to himself. he was still both embarrassed and ashamed of how he handled the banshee. He was never comfortable fighting anyway. He was much better using his head than a sword. He thought of what to do, which didn't take him long. He began to utilize his plan. Dise could have sworn she saw Ambrose grin mischievously...

Having reunited Blodeuwedd with her husband previously, Talwyn felt quite confident she could conciliate the two ravens. ‘Finding the faster raven? This should be a piece of cake!’ Talwyn silently triumphed. “Alright, let’s see what you’ve got. Fly from this tree trunk--” The pixie paused to gesture at a rotting log-- “To that huckleberry bush over there. Fastest raven wins!” Huginn and Muninn took their places. “3… 2…” Talwyn started the countoff. The two ravens tensed and prepared for takeoff. “…1! Go!”

Quote by Hlin
Hlin studies Odin&;s ravens. (No, not you, oh proud one, you are Aldris&; companion. Odin the god, you know, big guy, eight-legged horse? Yeah that one.)

She stares at the ravens. They stare back. She winks. They blink. She crosses her eyes. They caw and make her feel foolish. Okay, the stare-off isn&;t going to work.

Then Dise whispers in her ear, and she has an idea. Leaning over, she quietly imparts to Adris what Dise said and her own idea.

"So," she says aloud. "You guys want a race that declares a winner? Well. where I come from, that&;s a complicated series of events, sort of a variety marathon. I don&;t suppose you two are up to that, though?"

The subsequent pecks on her head are painful. to say the least.

"Stop! I get it! You can do it. Here&;s the deal then..."

Knowing that Huginn is the versatile one, Hlin starts with a barrel role to pick up the first hanged man, which is his specialty, and the a backwards aerial loop for the second, followed by a twist dive for the third.

If she&;s right, Huginn will excel at these, while Muninn, the wiry speed demon, will ace the in-between sections flying over the fields or corpses for the best sprints.

At the end, it should be a tie, with each being declared the clear winner in the challenge that reflects the raven&;s singular strengths. They&;ll both win definitively then, and all should go well.

She just hopes that Adris has a great way to work in those graveyard and battlefield sprint sections!

Quote by Adris
Odin, looked like he should take over for the Real Odin but I ignored my lovely wolf. The task at hand was to get the ravens to be peaceful. Of course, it would be my honour to help such a noble lovely bird. So pretty, dark and lovely. Ravens are simply far too wonderful. I shook my head to get myself back to the task at hand.
I sat in the graveyard and whispered to the dead, asking for permission to use their space. They all gladly consented. I set up a rather macabre corpse obstacle course. “Okay, pretty birds,” I explained, “you start at this hollowed out tree and fly into it, spiral upwards and out of the tree, then weave through all my hanging scarecrows I’ve hung in those tress. Following that, you sink low to the ground and do a roll in the three ribcages. My zombies will then attack you at random and you must avoid them to get to the finish line at the Church.”

Quote by Hlin
"As expected, since speed on the straight courses belong to Muggin, he soars across the final marker while Huggin is still dodging zombies. Muggin has a few scratches, which his rival avoided with ease, but he caws triumphantly.

Hlin and Adris both shake their heads in agreement. "Well, there&;s no doubt Muggin is fastest."

Muggin preens and inclines his head slightly.

"BUT this was a combination event, and Huggin aced all the tricks and avoided the obstacles. There&;s no doubt that he is the winner of that aspect."

Huggin flutters his wings happily.

"Therefore, we have reached a final solution: both of you must be declared winners, and absolute winners! We can&;t disregard categories!"

Hlin has her hands tucked behind her back, so only Adris sees her twisting fingers.

However, the two birds look at each other as though they had never considered styles and combinations before. Then they both nod happily, and Huggin accepts the title of "Aerial Stunt Champion" while Muggin struts proudly as the "Sky Speed Demon Champion."

Adris and Hlin breathe out slowly in relief.

Chapter 13 – Tlachtga

Huginn and Muninn gave you the hint that the powerful druid Tlachtga might be your next destination. Tlachtga was known to be the daughter of the druid Mug Ruith. She accompanies him on his world travels, learning his magical secrets and discovering sacred stones in Italy. Tlachtga now resides under an earthen ringfort nearby. Díse goes ahead. “Welcome, kwumō.” An euphonious voice arises as you enter the ringfort. A few moments later an arcanely woman appears, silver runes covering her skin. “I’m Tlachtga.” The druid bows her head. “Why are you coming to my shrine?” Díse shortly summarizes your mission while Tlachtga listens heedfully. “Yes, I can help you with that. I was the one casting a spell on the splitter you took from Banshee.” Aha, now you realize why the Bifröst piece brought you to Odins ravens. Seems like the druid act as your fairy godmother along the path. “And what do you want us to do?” You charily ask. If you know one thing for sure than that nothing comes without a price. The master druid laughs. “Straight to the point, I like that. Well, the Old say that you need to outwit a druid to get his or her treasure.” Díse makes a noise of astonishment. “And how do we do that?” “In simple terms: If you can solve the following puzzle I’m going to gift you my personal piece of the rainbow bridge.” Sounds fair. You nod. “Out with it.”

Gosh when can I just blow up something?!Elethia thinks irritably All of this brain work is giving me a headache! she begins to grumble to herself huffily. Hearing a chuckle she pauses in her inner rant and directs her narrow gaze at Mr. Scoots who decides that now is a good time to hide behind Dises legs.

Dise is smiling, but she knows better than to set off the testy mage. She needs Elethias know how with puzzles to get through this task that Tlachtga has given them. "Please Elethia lets focus on the task at hand so we can continue our quest." Dise states soothingly. Elethia gives one more glare at Mr. Scoots for good measure and then proceeds to work on this new puzzle. "I think this might be the answers for this puzzle..." Elethia murmurs
