Semi dumb question - what's an American "biscuit" (link)? Is that like a UK scone, or totally different again?

I was gonna suggest to just buy a wallet :P yeah the closest would be a scone. Typically though american biscuits aren't really used for sweet things. Some people will put butter and jam on them but that's where it ends. Mostly its savoury. I think a dumpling would also be a good comparison. (obviously not cooked like a dumpling) but the consistency is pretty close
