Onions, and possibly some broad beans - I just need to make sure they're covered with fleece to stop the frost getting to them, and also to stop the deer nibbling them! ;)

I love onions of all sorts. ^^ You can use it with a million different things. ^^ You should plant a seperate lot for the deer. :P

I prefer them raw laughs but if we have a particularly large onion, then Gran has that to add into her cooking ;) We've tried growing celery for the first time this year - that worked better than I thought it would (2 pounds for 10 plants, and we've had lots of celery stalks from that, so that worked out brilliant value for money :D)

Something ate the tops off the spring onions I was growing - they were under a net, but I think the deer figured out they can press down on the net, and nibble the stalk through the gaps :K Thankfully the deer don't eat the regular onions though! ;)

:nods: they taste yum raw as well. Shame about the spring onion tho. Those are the best:K Silly deers! The celery does sound like great value for your money! And so healthy too! :D Dont really eat it that often, but I like it. :)

I've never had spring onions, so it was a shame they never worked out, but at least they leave some of the stuff alone laughs nods I found it much nicer if the celery is peeled first - otherwise it's a bit stringy :P

nods I might try covering the spring onions with something a bit sturdier than the net (or raise the net up a lot higher so they can't reach them)! The deer and badgers don't seem to like eating the chives on the allotment, although the badger eats the ones in the pots in the back garden o.O
