I never even heard of Krampus. I am so out of touch! :P

Aha! Well, basically Hollywood took on a truly creepy folktale and couldn't really decide on the genre for it. Was it meant to be horror? Comedy? I'm not sure anyone knows. It was mostly a hot mess with some good moments and enough general entertainment value for me that I'll eventually own it. Meanwhile, I also want to write a movie about the Krampus I grew up being told would carry me away if I didn't behave myself.

What complete and otter nonsense!

Whoot! While digging you found the creature Sinuous Crystallite. It seems to have taken a liking to you, so I suppose it won't hurt anything to let you take it home with you.

You know, this one reminds me of Jeff from Men in Black.

I didn't have a Krampus (what culture uses that character?), I had a boogeyman. I refused to use that with my kids. No bad guys/witches/evil step-mother (you should see my version of Bambi! 20 minutes long: Bambi is born, falls in love (I LUUUURVE twitterpated!) and marries Selene). My kids turned out just fine without! yay! :D

I thought I had 1400 (Pollies' intel is 1452) but over 100 of that is boosters. I want to get to 1600 for the top SAI job. Slow going.... :P

At least 300 of Whisper's intelligence is from boosters. She's at 1700 or over now.

Actually she's pretty much reached it. I have 1600 for the SAI position and I've read 1400 books, so I'm going to work on other pets now.

: No, I'm still talking, I just posted Weldon's HA in preparation for Masquerade. You can always tell when Weldon speaks because his text translator accurately captures the color of his breath when he opens his mouth.

I know that you aren't saying that my breath is green, that is just absurd.

What is absurd is the amount of anchovies and garlic you put on your pizza.

But that doesn't have anything to do with the color of my speech. You set the text translator to indicate my speech in a green color so that others can tell when I'm speaking. And besides, I brushed my teeth and gargled after I ate my pizza.

Well maybe you should brush again, because your mouthwash isn't making it. What did you gargle with, peanut butter and corn chips?"

Um...no... with some Scotch.

Krampus is primarily Central/Eastern European. As it was framed for me as a kid, it was a creature that came out in winter and basically stole away the children who were so naughty they'd slid right off the bottom of Santa's list. My family didn't really use it to its full terrifying potential but Slavs in general do not really fool around when it comes to their boogeymen.

: I would love to visit the Schwarzwald, my ancestors originated there, some say near Freiburg, my mother says closer to Buchenbach. My father says that it was over 150 years ago that our ancestors immigrated to the new world and that it really doesn't matter. It just sounds like a wonderful place and I would love to see it with my own eyes.

it's beautifull and there are so many nice places to go hiking. I used to got there for holidays with my kids. Or do short weekend trips - just to relax and even if it's a 5 hour drive.

Heh. I fell asleep mid reply early this morning, lol. Havent done that in a long time. Lets see what we have here. (and see if I can remember who pinged me about this) ( were you wondering about this too?)

Um.. couple things. First a short story entitled..

Where Lair Bears came from
I originally made Laurie's Lair as a place to hang out in-between events, called it the corner booth and based it loosely on a coffee shoppe gathering place. A few will remember .. from there it became a lair but of course there's still that big ol' corner booth over there and coffee. And cookies. Lets not forget cookies.

The bonds of friendship and compassion that began to blossom was amazing, and lets be honest, so was fighting back the urge to duct tape someones fingers together while getting 100 pings when a few will suffice but we get it, or maybe I should say put up with it because they're just trying to be helpful, friendly and/or can't figure something out, or the more serious pings where one of us need a shoulder to lean on, have something to share with our friends.. It's not like it's difficult to delete a ping or tw..enty XD!

At any given time there are between 250 and 300 members. If I remember right we swelled to almost 500 members during the ball that first year and the ones that stuck around afterward made me realize no matter who on the fringes of the group comes and goes, the core members of our little gathering place has become family..

Like all families do, we worry when someone's uncharacteristically absent. But we also must, must, must respect the privacy of our members. So..

I can see where a private so-called private topic where we can post Hey, Im out for awhile or check around with others in the Lair on someone you haven't seen or talked to lately would be a good idea but not if it's going to be a ping fest. That can't happen.

Some of our members have serious health issues that they choose not to discuss with everyone - they don't want to be pinged asking whats going on but they check the lair when time and pain threshold allow to see what's happening on Subeta but prefer to keep what's happening in their private lives to themselves. Some have days they don't talk much, life has gotten busy or they don't feel like interacting, or straight up ain't got the time. I can go for weeks without saying much. Shooooot, I went silent for almost a year because I couldn't stand being here and when I got beyond that I couldn't bring myself to interact with people. Not being questioned and good friends are why I came back. Not feeling pressured to talk about him is why I'm still here.

Another point, the name you want for the forum (is that right or ?) Yeaaaaaah.. sorry y'all but the Lair's nickname and namesake isn't based on a care bear, its a bear cub because my group reminds me of the bear clan.

Im not really clear on the name thing to be honest. Kathy and I put LairBear in event title to make the topic easier to find but we dont have specific names for them. Why not just call it what it is? A have you seen/I'll be away topic, reign in the pings and you should be good!

It sounds like your author used his spine as an accordion. That happens to me way too much and it's no fun at'tall. If y'all can get to an inversion table, you should give it a try, stretch out and de-compact those smushed together discs and such.

Hey you!! I got your text right at the end of my naming ceremony, and didn't respond. I'll get caught up, catch my breath and do that I promise xD

I think that covers what I wanted to say before falling asleep with my keyboard as a pillow. It certainly is a long enough post so lets hope so! OH! One last thing, if I've learned anything over the past few years it's not to assume you've got tomorrow. Thus FabulousViolet has my back. The fabulous one will always know if something has happened to me because my kids will get ahold of her in case of an emergency.

Sydney I'll email Marreshaann and see if she's ok and warn her about the a mountain of events from the kissing.

how ya doin hon? Im so glad you're back <3

Oh man.. I saw the trailers for Krampus - it looks about as fun as Annabelle. I'm already dreading the day my sister comes barging in yelling YOU GOTTA SEE THIS MOVIE! And I'll watch it.. I'll be scared outta my mind but I'll watch it!

Hm. Maybe try something else. From what I've learned and do myself for headaches and migranes is use ice, heat for a headache isn't always a good thing so keep that away from your neck shoulders area.

Do you have a "pea pack" which is a bag of frozen peas or other small frozen vegetables? If you do wrap the bag in a towel and place it right where the back of your neck starts to bend if you tilt your head back. The frozen veggies conform to the shape of your neck and spine without any sharp edges. If you don't have any, try it with a bag of ice wrapped in a towel. Then lean back for 20 minutes. The cold will increase blood flow reducing the pressure and pain in your head.

Only leave it on for 20 minutes tho.
