I'm sold on the idea. I like your brain.
I'm actually gonna go on a limb here and say this in regards to social media: if you're not into FB, fine. If you are, fine. Same with tumblr, and all other forms of social media.
But honestly, think about how integral these networking sites have become. Unfortunately, this is the new form of advertisement. We're past the days of people seeing ads while surfing the net; AdBlock takes care of blocking all that shit.
Now we have social media as a means of spreading information.
Fortunately, the younger generation of kids is already adapting to social media like breathing. That's why Subeta and its userbase needs to take advantage of these outlets: we can easily bring in a whole new generation with social media at our disposal. As long as sell ourselves effectively and proudly, the teen demographic is ours for the taking.
I was a teen when I first joined Subeta. A lot of us probably were. We have excellent site artwork to back us up, and an environment for anyone to grow their characters or play however they want.
We're not the average pet site; we allow freedom and creativity to flourish.
tl;dr: the userbase needs to adapt to using social media as a means of advertisement for Subeta, as well as optimizing the referral system, in order to successfully bring in new players; or else our site is doomed to perish in time.

haha I'm glad, I spent half my lunch typing that on my phone so I wouldn't forget-- hopefully it was time not wasted.
And I do agree it's possible to get the referral shop items (I've read all of the books to Craig, and I know a few others have gotten all the books read too), it's mostly that they very rarely get sold. I don't even mind the typical going rate of 6m/point or the fact that I have to pay that because I'ma reclusive hermit, it's finding the user with the points who's willing in the first place that's my issue |D!
It'd actually be cool if the accounts subeta has that has referrals got sold for that ratio (squiby, and google maybe?) from time to time. Just to get more of the items into circulation.
But regardless I'm interested in the idea that joining in on things like contests could earn referral points! That'd definitely motivate me more than csc xD
Some of us old folk have adapted to social media, too, but there's still the question of how to spread information about Subeta effectively.
Anyone can run a blog but there are 216.9 million blogs on Tumblir alone. Attracting readers other than friends and family isn't going to be easy because there's a lot of competition out there.
Twitter - I'm not a celebrity so I'm not going to attract thousands of followers if I signed up. Even if I made all my tweets public, who would bother to read stuff posted by somebody they have no interest in? I looked at Subeta's page on Twitter - very little on it and the latest posts are reports of how much sP players have spent buying individual treasure chest slots. This isn't going to be of riveting interest to the general public.
Facebook. I'm in contact with real life friends and family on here and also belong to the following groups -
a) A help and socialising group for a FB game I play.
b) People who love the Lancaster bomber.
c) A local interest group for photos of where I live as it was a few decades ago.
d) Lost and found pets in the area.
Not really suitable for posting ads for subeta, then.
Currently I don't believe it is possible (this goes beyond just the referral items. Many collection items are unbuyable... not even in a stupid shop). I believe the people who have the achievements achieved them awhile ago (please current me if I'm wrong) and are now just upholding their high score with the newer collection items coming out. Just for my own reference, how many people do have the All The Things achievements (and is it possible to see when they achieved it, because that would be helpful for me).
As for the referral items, I would much rather expel my 50mil from the system then transfer it to someone who just happened to refer another inactive user. But again, I think you already know my opinion on the referral system. But just for lols, I'm gonna make my mom sign up (ARE YOU HAPPY KEITH?! She will be here for 30 minutes tops then go back to her facebook cat videos... The solution is we need more cat videos.) Maybe also my sister.
I better not get frozen for bring my household onto the site, I stg.
BACK ON TRACK THOUGH OMFG YES TO THIS. I LOVE YOUR IDEAS. WHERE THE HELL ARE OUR PACHYDERMS?! I've been waiting on an elephant.
Also, side note: I would love to leash my pet for sP.
if your mom and sister do sign up, you need to let staff know that multiple users are in the same household. My husband and his best friend (who lived with us briefly) both have accounts here and I just had to make sure to let staff know. Also, don't bother putting that info on your profile (unless you just want regular users to know) because I was told that staff doesn't use those profile comments and require a smail or ticket about it.nnBack on topic...I like the idea of a wheel to spin that gives out retired/hard to find items or even tiny amounts of csc(like no more than 25) that was proposed a bit back. I'd spend sP on that chance. The wheel would of course have to have a lot more "dud" options so those rare items would stay rare...but I like a good gamble :)
that's a pretty awesome idea, and I'd put 5m up right now for a keith live answers XD also, holy cow you typed that wall of text on your phone??? you must be a fricken pro at marbles XD
The ability to turn game prize items in for humming crystals and or recycle beast points. I have spent lots of points in the past buying items to turn in for the fragmentizer only to find out that game prizes are not accepted XD. Also they seem to be items the Recycle Beast never asks for. It would be a good sP sink if game prize items could be used by the fragmentizer and recycle beast. What do you think subeta friends? Thank you kindly for your time ^_^.
A friend is someone who knows all about you and loves you just the same ❤.
In hindsight, I'm feeling like a lot of reasons there's such a backlog of sP is because a lot of the sites sinks are either a) token related or b) one and done.
Like vending, BHH, token shop, and zapping all continuously suck something out of the system but it just isn't sP. Likewise most sP related things are something you only need once.
New unlockable hairstyles: you only need them once (10k to use the salon doesn't count, that's literally almost one game of random).
TC slots: this was better, because pet hoarders and 40 pets with 100 sloys each via the new system (minus the starting three) = 40 x 97 = 4,559 slots x 100k = 455.9 million. Not bad, but once all those pets arw done that's only 9.7 a year from a LB slot.
MC items: these are almost exclusively one and done. I don't need two Natasha's, I don't need two lizard traps, etc. There's a few potions that get little to no love and one booster which is good and I imagine has culled a fair amount of sP from the site.
We have a lot of useables that just change user hands-- namely potions, weapon mods, and boosters. These are great places to start looking at for itend that stay in the MC year round, such as:
Also what about a paying an sP penalty for being able to put a sticker in your own collection?
I fully understand the whole be social sticker thing but I will never get into collecting stickers because I do not like bothering other people to give them hundreds of stickers and expect them to sit there for hours sticking them in my collection for me. I would, however, pay a 5k per sticker penalty fee to stick them to myself (for reference, 5k per sticker x 250 stickers = 1.25m just to stick things to myself).
I think 's kickstarter type idea is great fun, but would have to be on a much bigger scale or have a cap of how much sp one person can donate. I'd donate 5mil all day long for Keith's answer. I'd donate the full 50mil in a heartbeat for a new pet. Hell I'd probably donate 250mil+ myself. So the stuff would have to either cost in the billions, which I imagine would make people not want to even bother with their "paltry" 150k donation. So a cap of I dunno, 1mil a person or something would make the 50mil for a whatever a bit more doable but I feel like it wouldn't stay open for long.
I still really like my idea of a big donation drive to different stores of Subeta. Art Museum, Adoption Center, Free Food, etc all could have either an event or an always-open achievement. Different tiers with prizes, everything from 50k up to 50mil or more for donating sp to the shops to help them stay open or whatever. If done as an event something special could come at the end of it if they reach their goal (1 bil donations or something).
Edit: Also yes please let me stick myself! I have a few friends I ask to stick stickers to me and I always feel bad for asking.

I thought about that too, but I think instead of capping the users it'd be better to just not cap the sP and instead set a duration-- which is kinda what kickstarter does. Like the goal is, say, 50 million BUT if we pledge 75m the artist will also make a matching shark minion (which could be released in like, the TS later or no where depending on how many people pledge)! And if we hit 100m then everyone who pledged gets an "over-achieving" achievement (not specific to any one kickstarter, just one that earns double! There could also be tiers and stuff to encourage users to get involved with more than one), y'know?
Basically just it leaves an open door to be a bigger sink and if something is super popular to go big (or go home xD). My concern to capping how much one user can contribute is if a bunch of people love the idea but can only contribute small amounts than it might not reach a goal/might not happen. But if it became a problem there could be limits, or how much you can at one time, or you can only contribute once? I mean half the point would be to get everyone involved and the other half is to suck sP out after all |D
Ohh okay yeah that sounds a lot better then! So basically stretch goals. I like.

Oh definitely, if there was no point in going past the goal then there would absolutely have to be a max of how much any one user contributed. Otherwise a super user would make it happen and there's no fun in that xD!
But if there's stretch bonuses than there's incentive to go farther and get more people involved! There should probably be a form of limitation (like, you can only contribute once, or if you've contributed before the goal had been reached, you can't contribute afterwards) otherwise I could, in theory, just drop 100m and get everything and people could (and I'm sure would) just toss in 1k for the participation and be done. Then again, I guess if someone wanted something that badly I'd probably be pretty damn impressed if they did that even once, let alone several times.
Something else I was thinking (that isn't really an sP sink but could be related to sP in the economy) is I sometimes notice there are super inactive accounts with shops, and they'll have old items in their shops (usually the only one for sale in user shops) so of course you're going to have to buy from them, and then that money just sits on that inactive account forever.
I feel like inactive accounts need to be purged after so many years of inactivity. It'll get all that sP out of the system, and any items on their account (if they were limited) can maybe be rereleased at a later time (like in the Free Shop?) IDK. I was just realizing that the other day.
ALL THAT SP ON ACCOUNTS THAT NEVER GET USED IS STILL SP IN THE SYSTEM THAT WILL NEVER GET REMOVED, SP SINKS OR NOT.
An item like the Infinity Berry only for healing. This would be a one and done item but I would pay quite a buttload for it.
I've brought it up before, but a flat tax across trades and user shop purchases would help filter out the massive amount of sP generated by quests every day. Usually when we quest, sP isn't being removed from the system as when we buy items from user shops, it's merely being transferred between users. Anywhere between 1 - 2.5% wouldn't go amiss imo.
I love that "pay to stick stickers to yourself" idea suggested. I WOULD DO THAT. I hate asking people to stick things to me (like it literally makes my anxiety disorder flare up) so I just have a vault full of stickers I haven't done anything with because I'm waiting for a day where I feel okay with asking favours from strangers BUT THEY KEEP PILING UP FURTHER AND THEN I'D HAVE TO ASK SOMEONE TO STICK HUNDREDS OF STICKERS AND THAT MAKES IT WORSE AND --
Anyway, if a couple thousand sP means I can circumvent the social aspect and/or possible panic issues I will pay it. (I mean, I'll probably grumble about it a little bit because why should I have to pay for the privilege of not having an anxiety moment, but whatever. I'd still do it.)
Haha yeah I definitely hate bugging people (adding stickers is sooo time consuming) and while I get the original "social activity" aspect of it, and I also get that people have/do heavily work on sticker collections as it stands now.
However, I'd also like to point out that people battled before all of the changes that happened over the past two years-- by that logic, should none of that ever happened? Should we still have pets with 300 stats beating impossible challengers with godlies? So, just because some people do doesn't mean a lot more people might if it was changed sp you can stick yourself OR others. Hell I'd pay to stick myself even.
I have 112 stashed away that I'd stick to myself this weekend if I could, (@ 5k a pop that'd be 560k gone forever) plus there's tons of others I know I'd buy to stick but since I can't I've never bothered.
I like your idea, but just imagine the outrage
"FIRST I CAN'T HAGGLE ANYMORE AND NOW, I HAVE TO PAY TAX IN USER SHOPS? SUBETA RUINED FOREVER"
(my phone just correctes this to 'so pheromone')nBut of course. That's all part of the idea muahaha. :)
The whole point of sP sinks is to remove sP from rich accounts, not make life extra difficult for the poor or new players.
