I've noticed this as well.... my one pet, who has been sitting in the pet spotlight que for over two years, finally won. (no exaggeration) Not complaining about the length of time, but the fact that it's quite possible pets are being overlooked, or the spotlight for a particular day is ignored. Of course waiting paid off for one of my pets. People spend a lot of time and sp and even $ for an epic pet profile and overlay so they can enter the spotlight challenge. And I can understand the discouragement and don't blame people from withdrawing. Please bring back the spotlight awards daily.

AND agree above, if there are problems with a pet profile, send a msg to the user like a rejected cw.

well, it's been a slice. I'm outta here. I'm done here and I need to move on to other things. I've grown weary of forum bullies and just don't have the energy for them anymore. I am praying for my friends here, as well as the bullies... everyone needs prayer...
As for my friends, I love you immensely and you are always in my heart and in my soul. God bless each of you and I pray He blesses each of you greatly.

As others have said, the recent news regarding the spotlight makes me think we need this even more. There is a reason the queue is so small...

Hopefully and/or have seen this. It would be great to get some staff feedback...

It would be kind and respectful if we could know why our pet was rejected. Like any avid user that like to work on their pet, I'd like to be pointed out what was the issue with my work. I never had a rejection from the staff, but if it were to happen, I'd like to get some pointers to make it worth my time. Not everything is "pleasing" when I look at pet page. And yet, some people with outstanding profile and stories get rejected? (where is the logic, where is the drawn line?). It's like getting the copy of your exam with the final result, yet nothing to explain why you got such grade.

I understand the whole "chilling", but it's just frustrating to get guidelines nowadays.

Makes sense. People should know what they've done wrong so they can fix it and re-submit.

This. SO FUCKING MUCH. ALL OF THIS.

Seriously, this should have been done a LONG time ago. Hell, I'd say this should have been done before this stupid, "Only 3 winners/week because not enough pets are suitable for winning!" crap.

Edit: I honestly feel like Subeta has become more and more about HAs than pets, especially with the whole, "Ain't nobody got time for that" when it comes to reasoning as to why a pet is rejected, yet CW makers get a full critique when they submit an item that gets rejected.

Yes, CWs make money for the site. Woop-de-fucking-do. People still spend a great deal of time and $ (be it RL money by commissioning stories, art, profiles) or site-currency. If no one wanted to buy CSC? Well, there would be less incentives for people to buy CSC to resell, which I do believe would cut into the site's income in the long run. But what do I know?

I'd never looked in-depth into pet spotlight submissions because none of my pets were ready for it. But with the news post about the changes I was just reading the comments... I agree with those who say the whole process needs an overhaul. I did not know they don't even tell you why your pet gets rejected. Wouldn't this just be... common sense? How are you going to know what needs to be fixed if they don't tell you what's wrong? Even if it's just some ticky boxes, surely that wouldn't be too much of an effort... you don't need to write a whole essay. Just give us something to go on. No wonder people get frustrated and give up.

So yeah, full support.

You should take a peek into the Pet Spotlight thread in the Pets forum if you want to see how much more fun that gets. LOL

"Hey... Been working on X pet. He has been rejected 5 times. Why? Dx I have tried EVERYTHING and am making no progress" "I can't tell you. Ask other users."

The reasoning was that 'it's a contest' but at least a message to tell you you've been rejected at all would help, because right now you either check your pet daily or never know they've been kicked out. I think one of the admins did say there is something they are working on though, so maybe with this overhaul there will be other changes soon. Fingers crossed x/

I know that said in the news comments that staff is just too busy to give reasons for Pet Spotlight rejections. I really don't see how it's so much more effort to just tick a box or something for the rejection and move on. Coding/Story/Graphics, that's all we need. Not detailed message like rejected CWs get, just tick a box.

That&;s it. There it is. The reason why the queue is apparently so low- people get discouraged when they&;re repeatedly rejected and not told what&;s wrong. If I had my pet rejected even a few times I would just give up completely tbh.

This was the first thought that crossed my mind when I saw that the PS queue is much shorter. Either people gave up or decided to not even bother when they saw it happen to others.

As I said before (ahaha just saw I posted on the first page already xD) checkbox reasons sound great. We weren't told how many pets apply per day (or per week), but technically it's not a huge deal if pets sit on the approval queue for a little bit, I suppose... and spotlight itself is only going to happen every other day. I think people now will have the mindset that "it'll take time" and we don't get an alert when the pet goes into the approved pool anyway.

But otherwise Jessi already gets the CW queue and the PS queue on the few hours she gets to work here every week, it'd be ideal if there was a way to have someone help her there.

[edit] Just to add that it doesn't make sense that we have more pet slots than EVER, and yet the PS queue seems so empty.

Yes...and no. It was getting to be that way for awhile, but it seems to be improving. The 'Pedia has pet lore (finally), pet colour combinations show up for their appropriate holiday, and even revamped ones have show up in-between holidays. Battling is its own niche, but still pet-orientated at least. Regular items are still produced for TCs and the like, especially food achievements.

But I do agree, the HAs/CWs get more time to be critiqued than PS entries because the CWs bring in money. The PS does not.

Just slap a 25 CSC fee to request why a specific PS entry was rejected if the site's that desperate. That couldn't possibly backfire, right? right??

Honestly, I think after the 4th time being rejected and being told, "Lol, I can't tell you whats wrong with it. Ask around", I'd be more than ready to throw 25 CSC at them and say, "Reasons. Now."

I think another issue comes down to browser & OS being used. I ran into various issues while coding Elfric's profile; it always looked fine on my dell computer monitor, but on my mom's mac laptop, some of the boxes or text was usually off even though the coding was typically fine. -shrugs-

edit: If the issue is "there's not enough time/staff" for overlooking the PS queue...hire more mini-mods. That position is purely volunteer/not paid, correct?

I think there'd be plenty of willing users who'd want to help out with the creative content side of the house; just give them the guidelines and stipulations to go by, and if they have questions, they can discuss it as a group or bring it up to the higher-ups for further assistance.

Honestly, this is so needed its redic. I have been very hesitant in the last few years to even bother working on my pets for the spotlight because it seems that it gets kicked for things that aren't even wrong?

Its meant to be fun - but after 4-6 kicks with NO help from staff explaining why and no one can figure out what else is wrong... you just give up. Why bother? Its not worth the stress.

I haven't been able to finish any of my pets, although Malaise would be close... But this sounds like a great idea. An extra couple seconds to tick what's wrong with a pet sounds like it would save a lot of time for staff so they don't have to review the same thing over and over again while everything gets fixed except the actual reason for rejection. Full support.

I understand that staff are busy and zooming through the spotlight queue right now is a matter of accept accept deny accept deny deny deny and it saves time not having to write a response as to why the pet was rejected, but with this recent weekly decrease something needs to change.

It's quite obvious that there's hardly any pets in the spotlight queue because people literally don't know why their pets have been rejected multiple times so they give up. The amazing people that help out in the pet spotlight thread spend hours trying to figure out what is wrong with someone's pet, only to have it be rejected again. A reason is really needed for the spotlight, even if it's just

Quote by lexx
Accept
Rejected for story
Rejected for credits
Rejected for graphics
Rejected for content
because that is really all that is needed. Custom wearables when rejected get a message that they've been rejected along with why. Why doesn't the pet spotlight have that? (Maybe it's because CW's rake in money and the PS doesn't but y'know that doesn't mean it doesn't deserve the same kind of attention.)

Also the two week cool down from being nominated again? That's way too long now. Maybe reduced to one week? In my head it takes maybe a week or more to be rejected and then the two weeks cool down is on top of that? So yeah that's way too long

That's how I personally would view it too, although I can see this suggestion being very impopular because money. Really, though, we're craving pretty much any alternative that offers reasoning.

(Unlike CWs, there wouldn't be a need to explain in-depth the details of the checkbox reason, which I feel is more than enough to keep the competition / contest feel to it!)

However the reason why I'm posting is basically to say I'm against hiring minis (or any other volunteer position) to do this job. Maybe csc pay, idk, but for free? Nah. I think users already do literally everything that they can for free, we don't need them doing official duties for free. That could backfire very badly and it'd be a horrible precedent for those who do get paid for their work.

Oh god, can we please make this a thing.

This would help so many people out and save so many frustrations in general. Its not directly telling you what you've done wrong but it's pointing you int he right direction.

An idea I had could be that there could be a check box in case there's multiple reasons why a pet is rejected as well.
