Got this done this afternoon. I can't stop looking at the picture. I love it so much! It's in memory of my great uncle Paul, who was like a grandfather to me. He died from bladder cancer. He also served 27 years in the US Air Force, so those are this stripes on the bottom. tattoo All healed

Feel free to show off your tattoos and your plans for future ones.

That's beautiful, congrats! and I think it's a wonderful tribute. I LOVE body art and I've met quite a few ppl my age who think it's weird or they disapprove of it. I truly love it. However I have extremely sensitive skin and I am afraid I might cause myself some problems if I got a tattoo. It's too bad, in a way since I'm not afraid of needles or anything. If I were a lot younger than I am I probably would have piercings and tattoos. It wasn't popular when I was young and was very frowned on. If it had been popular 40 yrs ago I wouldn't have worried about my skin sensitivity, I would have thrown all caution to the wind!! :)

Thank you very much! I told my cousin (his daughter) about the idea a few months ago and she loved the idea. I'm sure he would love it too. It's a little tender at the moment, so I'm going to put some more neosporin on it shortly.

I have really sensitive skin too. In fact, my next tattoo should say, "Caution: Do Not Leave in Direct Sun Light" lol. This is my second one and I haven't had any problems. I love looking at other people's tattoos. I'm not into piercings but I realize others are so I respect that.

AHH that is such a pretty tattoo! The meaning behind it is really nice, too. ;u ;

I'm currently working on finishing a half sleeve at the moment. Boop It's so scabby and itchy right now since the border was just finished last Tuesday ugh. Gotta get the colors and shading done next but I'm so ready for a bit of a needle break. D:

Thank you! Mine is still really tender at the moment, esp at the part where it overlaps. I'm not looking forward to the itchy stage

And your sleeve looks awesome! I'd love to see it after it gets finished!

Thank you! Yeah, I don't blame you there.

Oh, you're welcome. I did notice the redness around the tattoo in your photo, and your skin DOES look very fair. I guess you've had other tattoos before you got this new one, cause it's not tiny. If I ever got one I'd start with something very small, to test my skin. I always thought it would be cool to have something on the inside of my breast, and high enough that could be seen in a bathing suit, but not so high that it's on the chest wall.

Well some piercings are too much for my taste. I would want just one on my face, a very small "ring" in an eyebrow...something subtle. I'm not fond of the look of a lot of facial piercings.

Yes, my skin is very fair. This is my second one. I'd like one where you mentioned but I'm scared of the pain that would come with it since it's on your rib cage. The first one really hurt because it's on the middle of my back, just below where my bra straps sit. This one didn't hurt as much with an exception of a few places. The guy said I did really well and even though I flinched a couple of times, he said he would have been surprised had I not flinched at all.

Some piercings do really nice. It just depends on the gauge and where you get it done.

If I had a Tattoo on the inside of my breast I don't think it would be on my rib cage. I'm very well endowed and I meant that it would be on my breast where there's some meat on the bones. I know what you mean about how painful it might be if it were on the rib cage. I have a connective tissue disorder, so I have a lot of pain all over, which is another reason I wouldn't have any tatts at my age. But when I was younger (even though I was born with this condition) I was in far less pain. It's degenerative.

I actually saw a woman with a small tattoo in the spot that I described, over 30 yrs ago. She was waiting tables at a beach bar, so everyone had bathing suit tops on and hers was definitely on the flesh, and she wasn't overweight at all and it looked nice and didn't seem to be in a painful spot. Of course the flesh on the breasts moves around depending on the position of your body, so maybe it would have to be on the chest wall, cause I know that when I'm standing up vs lying down the fleshy parts redistribute. I'm overweight now so I have enough cushion, but I'm sure I'll never get one anyway. I just have too many health issues.

The one you mentioned that's on the middle of your back that was so painful? That sounds as if it's right ON your spine. I know that I couldn't have anything near my spine. I have way too much pain all up and down my back. All my joints and surrounding tissue are in pain. I couldn't even put a pain patch near my spine because there are so many nerve endings there (I guess) that the medication in the patch just went nuts and made the pain worse.

I'm glad to hear that it's healing well!

What a beautiful tattoo and such a sweet memorial for someone so special :)

I plan on getting a tattoo of a hummingbird and a pink rose to honor my grandparents, who were very, very special to me. I'm excited for it, I just need to save up the money for it.

Oh okay, I understand where it would be now. I'm really well endowed too. And sorry to hear that. Sounds really painful. I understand that. I have quiet a few myself because my dad was exposed to Agent Orange in Vietnam.

Yes, the one on the middle of my back hurt way more than my new one. One reason because it was on my spine and the other reason was I didn't know what to expect.

Thank you! And yours sounds beautiful! Where would you get it?

Oh my, I don't know too much about Agent Orange exposure. I graduated HS the same yr they pulled most of the troops out of Vietnam (1973) so I didn't know too many ppl who were there. I remember hearing about it when I was in 5th grade and worrying about my two younger brothers, but then it was almost completely over by the time I was 18.

So, are you saying that you have some sort of genetic problem that causes pain in your joints, etc. because of mutations from the AO that your dad was exposed to? That is horrible. As I said, I was so young when it was pretty much over that I had my mind on other things and I never researched anything about AO. I DID visit "the wall" (the Vietnam memorial) in Washington DC when I was in my late 20's and I wept as if I'd known all of them. It's like being at a mass funeral or grave. It's very profound.

So, my condition is genetic as well, usually it's carried by women who may or may not have it (if I understand it correctly) because my mom and her sister have very little signs of it, but they each have 2 daughters with fairly debilitating conditions.

I guess I should do some reading on Agent Orange. I'm a big movie buff and the other day I was looking up Agnes Moorhead who's most well known for playing Endora the mother of Samantha on Bewitched (if you watched Nickelodeon they probably showed it) and Agnes Moorhead was in a LOT of movies when she was younger. The article said that she died from cancer and almost every other person who was also in a movie filmed in 1956 (John Wayne, Susan Hayward and others) also died of cancer because they filmed it (unknowingly I presume) on the site of a former nuclear testing site) I think it was called The Challengers. So I went and looked up some of the lesser known actors from that movie and nearly ALL of them died young (under 75) and many from cancer or other conditions that could have been cancer related. It's just awful how things happen here (and in other countries) that are the responsibility of the US govt and they just get covered up or invalidated. I'm one of those ppl who believe that the govt was behind JFK's death (probably his brother too, AND MLK Jr) as well as being behind the World Trade Ctr events of 9/11/01. Yeah I'm one of those very suspicious ppl, like one of the Lone Gunmen on the X-Files, lol!! (not that it's a laughing matter, however)

I always wanted thigh tattoos, so I was thinking there. I'm not sure if I want the hummingbird and rose together, or have one on each thigh, maybe with an antique looking frame around them. I'm still not too sure yet

There are a bunch of problems they believe is associated with Agent Orange. Here's a link to a website that has a HUGE list of reported problems. I doubt some of them are from AO but it's gives you something to think about Children of Vietnam Vets

Wow, that's insane.

I'm sure those will look amazing. I'd love to see them when you get them done

Thank you! And yours if awesome! I'm looking forward to my next one, which is going to be the Tardis.

Thank you for the link, that is a very comprehensive website. I'll have to take a look at it when I'm not being so overwhelmed by so many other things (and I'm easily overwhelmed) but for the moment I already need to rest and it seems as if I just woke up (around 4 PM I think) and it's already almost 11. I can usually sit here much longer, but that doesn't mean it's good for me.
