Moving is so much fun! Packing boxes? A thrill! hauling boxes all over the country more than 25 times? That is what husbands are for :p I seriously cannot count anymore how many times I have moved. Or maybe it is just that I don't care to. Last time I counted I was above 20 and have moved several times since then. It has gotten to the point where I just stick my fingers in my ears and sing really loudly!

I have faith in you. YOu can do this! It is a good time to pare down some of your packratted stuff, too.

and I thought I moved a lot! welcome to the game! I tend to be quite the packrat too, but multiple moves over the course of a year can teach you a lot about the value of throwing stuff away!

"the value of throwing stuff away" true true true! I love my books SO much. But after moving 30+ boxes of them several times I started paring down on them. A box or two fewer every move. My most recent move I brought only 6 boxes of books. I hated to leave any behind, every move but particularly this last one because I know he has or will throw them away. I am so thankful for e-readers! Most of the physical books I have now are ones that are out of print and extremely hard to find.

oh yes! Books are sooooo heavy! It killed me every time getting rid of books. LOL I tended to take them to two used book stores I used regularly and dump them for credit (rather than cash) so I could start building up my collection again after moving! Of course, that only works for moves within the same city.

Well, when I said got rid of I didn't mean throw away. Mostly they were given away. My daughters also took many, many of them Hey, they can haul them around for thirty years now. :p Creit at a bookstore is great but you just end up with more books to move around, lol.

LOL no, no, no. Moving always means downsizing. Then when you get to the new place, with the least amount of stuff possible, you can have years of fun filling it to the rafters! Then look for a bigger place and do it all over again :P

- Franks and beak? What the what?

, - I love books too, but I'm finding I don't have a ton of effort to put in to reading these days. When I find time to relax, I just want to sit in front of the computer and play a game! Also, in an effort to accumulate less stuff, I'm trying to make use of the library more when I read. Most of my reading these days is the books for my little almost-4-year-old.

Me too, I have a huge pile of books waiting to be read. Most of my reading these days gets done in the doc's waiting room. Not just a preference for computer over book though, I've also noticed its the damned DVR. I used to read during commercials, this not only added reading time, but I'd often go back to reading after watching a program, instead of watching another show or going to the computer.

- Yeah, the DVR is a killer for anything that people used to get done during commercials. I hadn't even thought of that! There is one book I have to read during the summer for work, which I am not looking forward to. They always pick the most boring book to read that is filled with common sense, so there is nothing new to learn. We're supposed to be reading this book about social emotional development and education, which sounds great and all. The book, I'm sure, will be a yawn though. One of my friends started reading it and she said by the end of the first chapter, she was so angry at how horrible the book was. I should read some other books to counter my expectations for this book.

Yeah, much as I love to read, (and will read anything, like cereal boxes/ingredient lists, etc), I really hate the stuff I'm forced to read by others. Whether its work or school, or even a friend who insists I should read a certain book (not talking about discussing books, but rather, that person who keeps asking you if you've read it yet every time you talk to them!). LOL knowing me, I'd wait until the day before the deadline, then have to stay up all night reading something totally sleep inducing!

Oh sure, I've asked a lot of friends for recommendations, that's great, and also gotten a lot of good reads from just general book talk. Its just the one situation where they're way over enthusiastic about one specific book.

I'm actually in the middle of a series. I've just barely started the fourth (and final book), Shards of a Broken Crown. LOL its why I lacked sleep the other day - I was halfway through the third book and was just going to read for a few minutes before going to bed. Four hours later, I finished the book and went to bed.
