Because I don't have a printer (that works), but I plan to make outlines and cut them out of sparkly red, silver and green paper.

Oh, that will be cuter anyway! But yes, a lot more work. I think I am going to make a clothespin antlephore
I have no idea what in the world to make. Maybe paint something on a ball ornament??? :P Sounds too ambitious. I might go simpler.
LOL Maybe print out some kind of seasonal item and glue it to a ball ornament?
that sounds cute.

I have two ideas, one is a lot of work, the other is a play on words which I found amusing at the time but now I'm not sure I'm sold on it myself. One idea was to bead a Melody profile on an ornament (tons of work, not sure there's enough time) and for the other I was going to make little stick carolers - sorta like THESE

for a "melody".. get it? Much easier but also much lamer.

those carolers would go well with my antlephore! haha. I know there is no way to win so I am going with the get an entry in and get the achievement method, just like the last contest. As much as the melody beaded thing would be cute, would it really be worth the time and frustration? Only you can decide that!
I really wish I wasnt so freaking obsessive - maybe thats not the right word, impulsive or impatient might fit better but anyways, I wish once I got an idea in my head I could think it thru instead of spending hours digging around for long forgotten bits and pieces of things that "might" work. Alas.. if I could do that, I wouldn't be me I suppose.
At first I tried to scale an image of Melody to a bead graph and yeaaaah.. altho it would look awesome if I could get it to fit, I have to be realistic. Im out of practice, it's been ages since I've done any peyote or brick stitch bead work and my fingers arent as nimble as they use to be. I don't even know if I have the right coloured beads. Of course that wont stop me from thinking about it but I don't think I'll follow thru. And before I even try grafting a pattern I convinced myself I need to come up with something else before even trying. So here I am - waiting to see what y'all thing about my Snow Fairy Caroler attempt.
I don't have a dowl-rod ? or wooden balls, or felt, or a sewing machine. I pretty much dont have anything that the DIY guide used but I did find a couple popsicle sticks, some q-tips, plain paper and an extra mask from when Kyla had that horrid upper resp. infection that I cut apart to get the thin blue cloth to match the beads for her hair.
I'm not sure if yall can tell or not but she's about 2.5 inches tall. I havent made her "halo" yet - hell I dont even know if popsicle stick carolers are a "thing" but after hours of researching, reading, locating, cutting and gluing (No, I didnt know how to make a 6 sided snowflake to use as the skirt until tonight) this is what I came up with for the bluegreen snow fairy.
Do y'all think its stupid? And don't be nice just because you can, if this sucks and I need to scrap the whole idea and come up with something else please say so!
In the beginning there was half a snowflake and a string of bluegreen glass beads..

I didnt take time to look at how the "sheet music" was suppose to look like again so that's a little off cough - other than that I think all I need to do is find a scrap of lace or ribbon for the neck/chest area and find my gold wire to make a halo it would be done.

I was thinking the paper part of the skirt needs beads or something added but for some reason at this point Kit-Kit (my cat) decided she was their new toy, so when I tried to take the pic its a little blurry. If I make a set of these, I was thinking maybe I could have Sicca find me tissue paper for under the paper skirt? I don't have a tree but I could put up a strand of lights to hang them on for the final pics maybe - 1 with them stuck in the styrofoam, 1 with them hanging on the lights?
Im talking in circles, worse yet I'm thinking in circles. I havent stopped trying to figure out how to enter the contest without spending what I don't have since I first heard about the achievement. I need my brain to kick into neutral - its getting late and I need some sleep. Yep - I'm pretty sure obsessive was the right word after all.

Love the "melody" play on words idea. I don't think the skirt needs anything else - its an ornament, the image is going to be pretty small so I think the simpler the better. Too much detail simply won't translate well, especially if you plan on making the whole set. Definitely love the tissue paper under the skirt though, blurry pic and all. Also love the fan style wings. I think the music sheet needs to be simplified. Don't really think it needs a halo either.

I agree with lypsyl. Less is more. If it gets too much stuff on there it will be confusing to look at. Ilike it though! Very cute!
Hey , what are you doing for an ornament?
I really like it and think you have a good chance at a win. :)
I have no idea as of yet. We have about a week left, right?
it is due a week from tomorrow, the 14th. Lots of time!
That's a thought. :) I saw something cute the other day where they cut a glass ornament in half and made a little scene inside. Might could do that with a pic of a subetian pet inside. :)
yeah, I guess I have a little time. :D
Ta Da. Here is my totally ridiculous and uninspired ornament.

I like it. It's simple and nice. :)
hahaha thanks. It is so laughable! I am almost embarrassed to have turned it in. Watch, next time they will say something like...no turning in something you don't think has a chance of winning.
I don't see why you don't think it doesn't have chance to win. It's the kind of ornament you would see in a department store. :D
. Check out Georgie's ornament on the previous page. Tell her it looks good if you believe it does. I am not asking you two to lie. :P I like it personally. :)
well, thank you. I just think it was a cop out. You have seen the really creative things people do for these contests. THis is not creative but I accept your kind comments in the spirit they were intended!
Actually I thought it was really cute. I didn't post about it because I was having so many site problems yesterday.
