I know Subeta is a US-based company, but it's a bit American-centric to only complain about the ebola item now, in my opinion.

I mean, I don't know how old this specific item is, but there were people dying from ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo and in Uganda in the 2000s; in Sierra Leone, Nigeria, and Liberia; all just recently... I may have even missed some countries since I was just pulling these from memory. But it wasn't until September 30th of this year that the first diagnosed case happened in the US. And I don't remember the last time I saw a thread about this item, if I've ever seen one at all. I'd be curious to hear how many complaints there were about this item before now.

Frankly, I think if Subeta is fine making zombie strains that occasionally reference real-world material, items that occasionally reference real-world material are fine too.

Also, regardless of the fact that this thread is stupid, this is a bigger outbreak (everywhere) than previous years, and the OP isn't even American. So I'm getting kind of sick of hearing "people only care because 'MURICA has Ebola now!!1!1!!!!" five pages later. Yes, it's a ridiculous thread, and yes people should have cared just as much years ago but it's getting more media coverage because this is a bigger outbreak, not just because it's in the US, and the OP had good intentions.

I hate to be a downer, and this isn't mean to be an offensive post, just an informative one... but check out the Google search trends for ebola here. It shows how often 'ebola' was searched for on Google. Yes, there are noticeable spikes for Guinea and Sierra Leone, and a great big one for the WHO announcement, but when ebola hit Texas, the search results jumped off the charts. It gets even grimmer if you get it to show you a ninety-day graph instead of a yearly breakdown. The ninety-day graph says to me that people were just beginning to stop caring about ebola again right when ebola came to the US, and now they care a whole lot more than they ever, ever have.

I'm not surprised by that at all, I'm just saying that it's not just the fact that it's in the US that it's a big deal this time (but of course Americans are freaking out about it now, there are quite a few of self-centered morons over here, hello). I wouldn't expect it to be such huge news in the UK just because it hit the US? But maybe that's me, I have no idea what UK news is like. The OP is not American, and had good intentions with the thread that had nothing to do with the fact that there is Ebola in the United States. That's all I'm saying.

Good intentions, perhaps, but I don't think that suspending an item will accomplish anything other than setting a nasty precedent for some of Subeta's items. The fact that this thread only popped up now is just cringe-worthy, is all. Bad timing.

This is harmless. It is a thing that exists in the real world and on here. Nothing wrong with it. I mean if there was suddenly a mass of school shootings (Which, would be very bad) around the world would you cry foul and want all the gun/bullet items removed?

Firstly, ebola plushies exist in real life. I know.. I bought a white cell one from the same company at a science center years ago and no one's calling for those to be taken off the shelves because of the ebola virus.

Secondly, that particular item has existed for years on the site so why the calling for it to be removed now when ebola has been around for years, decades even. It's an item that has no bearing on the current plague going on now other than name so there's not really any reason to remove it.

Thirdly, as others have stated, if staff removed EVERYTHING that could be construed as potentially controversial on site they'd have to remove a great deal of the items on site.
