Jeeeeze I'm jealous of you! All those slots! xD I have a lot of characters and I'm very impatient. The sad thing is, I had the character that I'm dying to make on here before, but I wasn't doing much with him at the time so I transformed him into another character. Gah
I failed to write another story before my college semester.
I ruined everything :(
Hehe I don't have a lot of pets (only 10) which is how I have so many empty slots. :P Just wish I knew what to do with them.
Aww that sucks. But hey, at least you got another character out of it? ^^;
No time this weekend? Or did classes already start and professors drown you in homework on the first day?
This weekend I need to start (and finish) a book. I was unproductive :c ?
Haha. Depending on the book that shouldn't be too hard. Though for college I'm guessing it's not a 3 hour book. xD
As far as unproductive goes, no more than the rest of us. :P
I'm still trying to outline the new story for one of my pets. Not exactly getting anywhere.
College only start on Monday, it's a personal reading :P
I'm stuck with a TC right now .. Not a single idea for the outline? Or is it like a big WIP?
Aha, I thought maybe it was some book you had to have read before classes start. So personal reading trumps story writing?
Well I was outlining what I sort of wanted to go down in the story. But I had trouble making the intro not tell all the same stuff that the main plot was going to be about. But apparently complaining helps. Not long after my last post I thought of a way to do it. :o
Yes? The movie is coming out in April and I will probably be too busy to get the reading done.
That's good then!
Oh there's a movie coming? 2 hour movie vs 2 day book... yup, the book is going to win.
Very much so. :) I may actually get the story done this year. x)
Haha, oh the pains of awaiting new pet slots! I got lucky since Keith announced that you'd get 10 pet slots when you activated a GA. Since I had only used 7, I've had the joy of impulse-adopting 3 new pets this week when I activated my GA, oh the joy!
I like you're idea of a baker, it's definitely sparking some ideas, thanks for the suggestion. :)
I was a bit the same, so many empty slots, but no current ideas that I was burning to act on. What helped me a lot, was to just browse the Adopt R US. There are actually some fantastic names in there and more often than not, there will be something that grabs your attention and sparks some inspiration.
It's where I got my three most recent pets: Cinnabon, Geiger and Mulberry.
Oh I know. ^^ I've done that before. My pet Lenis I got from the adoption center. That's a long time ago though and she has never been close to finished. xD I still go have a look there every now and again to see if something catches my interest.
But those are so great names you snatched. :o
Oh yeah the first time I got a GA, I used up all my extra slots immediately.
Adopt R Us is great, that's where I got my spectrum montre, Phinean. He's been through several concepts/ideas/stories until he is where he is now. I may even change him again... I'm so indecisive.
and here again I'm jealous of you, with your empty spots you could browse the adoption center and get anyone you could want. Me, I'm afraid to look in the adoption center because I'd die over the pets I couldn't have. pet addict
Sadly though I don't get inspired with new characters too often. So browsing the AC is just going to be a waste of time.
The name I would choose for one of my character ideas is on an inactive account, so the AC isn't going to help me there. Only reason I'm holding off on getting the name is that the character isn't very developed yet. And I have no idea what to name the other character I've been working on. ):
oof you should totally grab the name you want from the inactive account before someone else takes it. :(
As for naming the other character I usually go to baby naming websites and browse names and their meanings. If you find a name you like but it's already taken you can corrupt it by adding or removing letters. A lot of people find it a bit tacky but I don't mind, especially when it's pronounced the same. Example: if you wanted to name a pet sonata but the name is already taken you could do "sonatah"
I know. But I also don't feel right grabbing a name from someone if the character might not pan out. :(
Baby names sites are gold worth for naming characters. :) With meaning, alternate spellings and related names it's a great tool to use. I personally prefer common spellings though. ^^;
I agree, it's amazing the names that you can find in there, I was beyond thrilled when I found my three most recent additions. Plus, I tend to feel more...comfortable browsing the Adopt R US. As it stands, I feel like my pets aren't good examples to use when attempting to adopt from other people on the AC, plus much like you, I'd feel awful if I adopted the pet and the idea fell to pieces.
(I mean, I adopted Norm and Micael ages ago, and while the idea and story are there, I still feel bad that I haven't gotten to doing them up properly)
Haha, that is exactly what I did. There is something nice about being able to impulse-grab something from the pound because the name just makes you go "YES!"
Also, I have a question. When it comes to finishing/ doing up a pet, what part of the process takes you the longest and gives you the most grief? Is it the design/ the art and overlay? The story?
For me, it is usually almost always the profile itself. I am stubborn and insist on learning how to code and doing it myself (I get a certain joy from making everything myself). By my word, it causes so much headache and I am rarely pleased with the resulting outcome of the profile....since, uh, I'm really not that good at making them. ^^;
Yeah there are some awesome names in there. If you have the patience looking to all the not so great ones. :P I totally get feeling more comfortable looking through already pounded pets. No apps, no one judging your pets and ideas. Plus I can't just pull character out of thin air like some people do when they see a name they like. xD I wish I could. Then my last two babies would have characters too.
Hardest part of the pet... and I can't answer all of them? :P I'd have to say writing the story is the worst for me. From coming up with the basis for a story and putting it down in words. And my writing tends to be rather... sterile (too many years of writing book and short story interpretations in school and not enough spent on creative writing) so I struggle getting my characters' personality through as well.
Same, I just ended up spending around the same amount to finally empty the TC gallery and vault. The only downside of this feature is that now there's no time limit and I can spend all my savings in less than ten minutes oh god.
But dang if I'm not overjoyed about this new sink, it's actually useful o/
Glad I'm not the only stubborn butt here, I suck at coding yet insist on doing everything by myself.... But I can definitely understand (and share) your point, finishing the pet by yourself does give that certain pang of pride, the headache is most certainly worth it. .... Says the person who still hasn't finished a single pet oops. Currently I'm struggling with the story parts, not really because I didn't have ideas or knew how to write them if I actually sat down and focused on it, but because I'm horribly insecure about actually showing my writing? I should write more actively and get around my insecurities euhghg.
how's the nix pet coming along by the way? It's been a while since I last visited this thread, I keep getting nervous because I haven't done a single thing with any of mine. /woe.
[edit] ALSO I decided to buy after all! I'm so happy but my bank balance disagrees. ´^`
I have part of a story outline written down. Slowly working on getting the parts together. Dreading the point where I actually have to write the story.
[edit]
Oh you got your minion. That's great. :)
My bank is going to hate me soon as well. Just 7 mill away from being able to buy a Natasha. ;__;
