Thanks. :) I like them (otherwise I wouldn't use them, right?), but I think I'm growing bored with them just because I've been using the same thing for years. Sometimes change is fun, but definitely not when change = clutter.

Thanks! I'll check out that link! I think you're right -- a subtly-patterned BG may be just the thing to help me spice things up a bit. Maybe not for everyone, but a few of my pets could deff use some excitement. Like I would love to find a repeating galaxy image for Jafio, etc.

You ca always change it up a bit while still keeping it simple.

Personally I changed my own template layouts from this to this, simply because I wanted to change it up a bit, and try something new. ^^

Even simple and minimalistic has a lot of options.

can't be bothered to wait for Black Friday tbh. Wanted to sort it out now back it may not go on sale or something.

Thing is, I don't even know how to create a basic profile layout :S But your advice got me thinking last night, yeah, I totally shouldn't be trying to concentrate on all of them at once. So I will just try to focus on my first pet Monster Mash for now. Thanks for your guidance :P I checked out that colourlovers site too, but I'm so confused. I don't even know what I'm doing on there. But at least I've now got a colour scheme idea for this profile! haha

That's good advice too. All of my pets currently have TCs going. And the rest of the items are being held in my gallery: Bag of Holdin. I don't get too overwhelmed with that aspect, really. It makes me feel good to go through my gallery and choose which items would add more character to their blank profiles. Because I am honestly such a newb at coding and all those special things...womp womp But maybe I should start focusing on just one special character. I'm just not a very good story teller either haha, oh GOSH I'm sounding so hard on myself but I'm just really lazy I guess. :P

Thank you for the welcome and encouraging words. I really need to get my stuff together though. I really don't have 1 simple pet I'm mildly satisfied with. And none are spotlight ready. You make awesome profiles btw, so talented :$

Focusing on one pet at a time definitely helps. So just pick one and give the rest of them a metaphorical toy to play with/fight over. ;)

Do you know any sites for coding n00bies? I just need some basics on how to start.

Let's see. Apart from a couple of threads in the Profiles and Graphics Discussion forum, I personally started out here. Even when you've gotten comfortable coding it still serves as a really good reference. Later on I signed up here. It's a different approach. Instead of having the option of fiddling with examples, you're actually doing exercises. Which is good for people who learn by doing rather than just reading.

i do believe there might be people out there who offer existing profile templates.. matter of fact, i just checked and one of my former cultmates is still hosting her free for all coding on here. it might look a bit messy to pick through, but keep scrolling til you get to the "super editable part," and that's where you'll be able to change the color scheme and add in a background if you wish. let me know if you're running into walls with it, and i should be able to help (up to a point, there's some profile stuff that at the end of the day, i just don't understand)

oh and if you're looking for hex codes to get a specific color you want, this is the page i use.

For the first one you'll mainly want to look at the css tutorial. Sorry, should have said so before. ^^;

's suggestion of premade templates is good too. It can often be easier to start out by editing existing profiles rather than making them from scratch yourself.

Am I dense? I'm really not finding any super editable part :c and their link is broken now or it doesn't exist. They're on hiatus currently so I can't even ask them. But thanks for looking out for me, anyway.

toward the bottom of the OP, there's a spoiler that says FINALLY!! CODE FOR PROFILE! updated November 6 because subeta's silly broken code" (+ some emojis that i don't feel like copying). open that, and you'll get a huge wall of CSS popping out at you. it'll look really intimidating for the first few paragraphs (though she does a good job at talking about what's going on as she writes it out), but keep scrolling and you'll see /* SUPER EDITABLE PART OF THE PROFILE. / / replace the Color name (like WHITE or BLACK) with a hex color code. / / CSS automatically knows certain colors like WHITE or BLACK or RED as they have preset hex codes */

the segment following that is probably the meat if what you'll want to edit- the color scheme, etc.
