I had no idea that Subeta had a vivid history. The thing is, Subeta was very overwhelming to me as a newbie. I had little to no idea about what to do and where to go - I don't think I would've been able to handle a large storyline, although it is definitely something that I'm interested in.

Perhaps it's just me, but I don't know if lore is something that will draw absolutely everyone into the site. I don't want it to be something that completely takes over, although it's something that I want to be more prominent - if you catch my drift. I personally go on Subeta to have fun and relax, and I'm not as interested in finding out about Subeta lore. However, this is probably due to the fact that I haven't been exposed to any lore, and I often miss out on events.

I'd love to see more lore! I know lore about each of the hundreds of characters on Neopets somehow, but nothing about anyone here :C Lore helps create the world! Without it, its just empty, boring, dull. Maybe getting a great story to immerse the players in could help bring back old players who are getting bored, or keep new players who don't feel attached.

I originally mentioned the Cash Shop mini-plot and I feel I should mention that I didn't mean you like paid to obtain access to a temporary plot or anything. I was thinking more along the lines of something super simple and added nothing really worth anything, just a bit more entertainment, in my mind I was thinking something as small as Esther's Quest last Vesnali. Like a little story added to an item you'd buy from the Cash Shop anyway. And I likened it to the Omen Islands and the challengers in the cash shop because, imo, if you're willing to pay for those whether with sP you earned, or sP that you traded for CSC or CSC you earned or CSC you traded for sP etc. then I don't think a mini-plot that was available for purchase permanently and added a permanent feature to your account would be much of a difference? I mean, why not add additional challengers by having a small plot to explain why you're even battling them in the Coliseum? That was my thinking anyway. I'm sure most of you understood what I meant and just didn't like it and that's fine. I didn't really suggest it with exclusivity in mind, more of just the idea that it's something to work towards like other locked features of the site that new users have. And I just felt I should clear that up.

Also, wow yes yes to paying in CSC if they can't afford the funds in a real life currency. I think even being paid in CSC Keith had to technically add you to the pay roll, but hopefully this way it'd be a lot more of a reachable goal and idea if they could figure this out first.

I think one of the best ways to go about building upon current lore would be to contact the previous artists and asking their original intentions and concepts for those characters. This would be a monumental undertaking but I think it would help stay true to the original and then allow for elaboration.

My heart primarily lies in the newblet mini quest getting established and finally having some true FAQs.

I also strongly support a mini quest for newbies, and the fact that there isn't an FAQ is insane! Basically, the help center consists of rules, bug reports, grammar reports (?! LOL), and a link to the help forums. So you can read the guides the users have put together instead and hopefully an experienced user will help you out? ...no wonder new user retention is not good.

Agreed. These are so essential to any pet site IMO. I really don't understand why Subeta has gone without for so long.

I would think that would have been done a LONG time ago. If I were Keith, thinking of all the lost users who gave up playing because they couldn't figure anything out would make me sick, honestly. You can't just hope your users have previous pet site experience! And really, at this point there are so many user writted guides an official one could be made in a couple hours. Think of the difference it could make! People you refer might actually stay and play (and spend money!).

Had this been done years ago, I would have cared, but I think the site has too many issues that I found myself no longer caring about the lore, because it has been ignored and irrelevant for too long.

Also, to whoever suggested a CS only plot, what about no?

I think in any case all great idears, story's of new lore can begin in fanfic on devianart or on the petpages. It's great if some staff discover some nice idears or plots some where else in fanfic's.

the fact that you think this makes me so sad - mostly because it is true :( I feel like so many of these problems (with the overall story, not technical - that's another issue completely /eyeroll), had they been addressed in a timely manner, could have been the difference in staying/quitting/caring for a lot of people. if people are invested in a story, they will come back again and again. This missing lore, like so much else here just seems like it's considered unimportant it's just the opposite.

Of course, when your house is burning down you don't worry about the mess in your upstairs closet.

i think the greatest evidence of how successful this would be is the councillor's cruise. everyone ADORED all the history and back story that was given to all the different worlds on the map.

i think the newbie quest/plot is genius. theres no current way to catch up on everything thats happened without drudging through subetapedia posts, subeta wiki posts and old forums. this would eliminate all of the "when is morostide? what is luminaire? who is elwood?" stuff that invariably happens with every change of season.

i have been on the site four and a half years, and theres plenty of stuff that happened before me (pirates/islanders/amy, calvin blackmoon, etc) that i STILL don't know too much about.

as suggested, hiring users and paying in items/CSC would alleviate any out of pocket expense.

i hope the staff is monitoring this thread because the items set forth in the OP are outstanding.

why is maleria so evil? how did jaxon get involved in growing pumpkins? why is mauve's trust fund taken away?

i'd love to know all these things and more, and the talent to come up with the answers is bountiful on this site.

i fully support this and hope to see it sooner rather than later. this is perfect for the 10th anniversary year!

I think this would be a great thing to do. There are lots of characters who need lore of their own and some who need lore updated. I think this would be a great thing to do, and I hope that Keith and the rest of the crew spend a couple days updating and adding new content and things to involve people more.
