I really wish we had seen more of the interaction between Fantine and Skitters. I mean, she zombified for him, what's happened with them? They're the couple that started the story and we don't really know how they're doing now? Does he find her ravishing? Beyond that there are so many loose ends without answers that it is mind boggling. It would be nice if we had some information written up, post plot, just to finish the storyline. But please, don't bring this back. Yes the site had issues, but when the site WAS running, things could have gone better, way better. People should have not been begging and pleading for this to end.
Well, obviously she cured herself. And from what I get from the newspost, it almost sounds like their relationship has hit something of a rough patch.
If a certain zombie had been a little more supportive coughs and wasn't playing zombie cop, she might not have felt so alone and unhappy.

Didn't see the news post. Glad that we had some sort of resolution with those two.
Personally, I enjoyed it. The ending seemed a bit abrupt, but I think it fits. Ecks playing everyone like a fool and backing Skitters into a corner was the point: he's stuck, politically speaking. As a writer, reading the last part of the plot had me bouncing up an down thinking how brilliant it all was. That said, there were parts of the plot I wasn't thrilled with (the splittifish thing and "find item 1, 2, and 3 so that the other side can't have them" in particular), but overall I liked how the plot played out. -shrug-
twitch I had one more brew to make. headdesk And I come back from work and it's all gone. Effffffff. Oh well. I'm kinda just glad it's over, I was really bored. :/ I felt like everything was thrown together at the end. I sincerely hope next year's is better, cause this was kinda....lackluster.
To me it looks like the plot had no choice but to end regardless of whether there was more to it or not. The Masquerade is a known annual event and there would be a riot were it not to happen at least somewhat on time. I'm going to take the belief that there was more to this plot, but there was no choice but to cut it short because of the attacks causing too much of a delay to justify it continuing over the Masquerade.
I'm fine whatever way it was though. Remember, this is only a game. If I'd have quit because of an abrupt plot ending, I'd have been gone last Pandemic - I'm actually shocked people are surprised in the first place.
I loved the items, i loved the art, and it had some serious potential.
Last year I was disappointed: "this is it?" And we were told it was only a start. But this year I just got the same feeling "This is it?". I soooo looked forward to this, and I honestly expected a lot because there was so so much potential in this and subeta has shown in the past to be capable of making amazing plots.
And then suddenly, BAM it's over guys! euh really? Fantine suddenly decided to cure, she went back to her shop after only two weeks in the underground, barrely a reason why she came back and left the guy she loved in the underground, what about the resistance thing? Ecks?
Ecks: i didn't do it skitters: okey fantine: hey skitters, i'm curing skitters: okey end of story

Haha, this is fantastic!
[Kiss=danis]
It just seemed very abrupt to me. I remember being like 'Wait. It's over?...oh." It really seemed to come out of nowhere with no build-up to it. And then today Fantine is like "I snuck around and drank some horrible mystery potion and freaked everyone out just so I could be a zombie forever...LOL NOPE NOW IM HUMAN AGAIN LOL BUY SOME CAKE'.
This whole plot kind of reminds me of Breaking Dawn. Build up anticipation for lord knows how long, then drop the ending like a hot potato.
It's gonna be amazing you guys! Seriously! ...Not impressed? That's ok, we're not done yet! Waaaaait for iiiiit...... LOLJK THE END.
I know staff has already (sarcastically) addressed this, but honestly it doesn't seem to me like they really planned the event out, at least concretely. They kept promising it would amazing and I know we had shit tons of downtime, but even when the site was up we got lackluster updates over and over.
I agree with everyone saying the art was gorgeous and the prizes were awesome, but I think either the plot wasn't really as planned as well as they say it was or they have a different definition of amazing than I do. Or maybe they only meant the dialogue would be amazing and not the player-interaction part? But I have to be honest, I hardly read any of it. I only wanted to get down to business. Business that I feel like I didn't get lol

I was surprised that people were so psyched for this event. Were we promised something amazing last year?
Looking at it in terms of a story (characters, pacing, investment and, well, plot), this plot wasn't great - but that's pretty much normal for Subeta. Looked as a site event to do new things and earn items I think it was OK. Had it not been for all the downtime and lag I would have enjoyed it. However, I was happy enough with the prizes I got that it made up for my frustration earlier in the event.
That said, I really hope that Subeta doesn't do another event that hijacks your HA for a whole month, and that next time, the new games are tested/planned a little more thoroughly.

Last year, people complained about how rushed and unfinished the ending of the event was. Keith stepped in, saying that it was merely a mini-plot, and a setting-up for the next year, and that it was going to be awesome. "Next year". As in 2012. And this year, the plot felt, yet again, really rushed and more of a "Come back next February for the "exciting" conclusion (maybe) of the Zombie Revolution!"
I was pleased for the most part - ignoring the godawful site problems, ridiculously-careless spelling and grammatical errors, and the slow-as-molasses updates. The epidemic is one of yearly events I look forward to. The art was gorgeous all around. Community speculation was booming. Loved it.
BUT. BUTBUTBUTBUTBUT.
The steps were far too easy to complete (with the exception of the much-maligned "F5 at X location for five hours, and maybe you'll get that Pink Lemon!" step), and most didn't take me more than 10 minutes (and that's stretching it).
Too long a wait inbetween updates. In my opinion, okay, fine. If you don't want to post plot updates every day so as to avoid alienating the more casual players.... at least post "flavour" text in the news for those of us who are generally on every day to some degree. The first year of the Epidemic was great because it felt like nearly every day, there was a news post to read about the "chaos" gripping the world.
Oh yes Titania reporting. She only reported what twice this year? She should have been reporting on rumors, anonymous tips, or something. If I have to read pandemic related text I'd rather it be from her. More Titania next year! :D
I went back through the archives to see how many times she reported each year.
2011- Seven times with Jack Cardale reporting twice. 2010- Three 2009- Ten
So in 2010 there wasn't much from her either but I think we all were exited over the pandemic happening again that no one noticed lol
"Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't feel Just because I don't feel doesn't mean I don't understand" IAMX- The Unified Field ....... "Plastic people don't got nothing to say They're judging me, I'm judging you We ain't got nothing else to do" Palaye Royale - No Love In LA | | |
Do you happen to remember where these concerns were addressed? I haven't been looking in the right places and would be interested in seeing what they had to say about this whole thing.
I don't think it was that great, I'm mostly just irritated at the damn fishing?? I never got to finish and never got that last achievement because of all the downtime. I couldn't spend every second refreshing Subeta to get it to work. I have a job and school /: That really just killed my involvement in it.
I'm just sad with the fact that I couldn't beat all the dummies and thus had to stop there. I like to make my pets pretty and read them books....i'm not a fighter ;_;
is always sassing me
I got awesome zombie wearables, turned into a frosting monster, and am confident that the Subeta staff will do the same for me next time. It was the best plot I have ever participated in, despite what might irk others.
I believe (because of the comment about sarcasm) that she was referencing this thread. Keith first says they are prepared and moving forward when they plan to on page 2, and the sarcasm part started on page 3. Sarcasm aside, they were saying that they indeed had the event planned out well in advance. That was at the very beginning of Pandemic when we were being infected but the actual plot part hadn't begun yet.
Also...I wondered from the beginning and have been left wondering why it was called "Love Epidemic" this year instead of Pandemic XD Especially since aside from Fantine's crazy plan to go undead for love, the whole love thing was pretty much ignored and there was threat of an actual Pandemic/poisoning. :P I had thought maybe it was going to be explained/worked in later.
And now Titiana needs to be infected and start reporting for the Zombies and their little turf war. Yup.
Ahhh, thanks for the link! I was thinking that it was more recent than that.
