I'm not a big fan of pandemic, I only liked the first one because it was something new. Even more so since I've stayed a zombie from 2010. The only reason I even stayed doing the steps was just for the prizes I knew was coming. That and the fact that I have nothing else to do except the five second check up on strain progression.
I pretty much stopped paying attention to the dialogue three steps in. I couldn't stand the OCC of it and the whole my disease is progressing when no it's not and won't be. I have no idea what even happened because when I saw "wall-o-text" dialogue I skipped past. I can't even tell you what happened last year as I wasn't even caring about pandemic then.
I do have to say I love the new area artwork.

lol I love how you compared to asoiaf! My only thing here is with those books the ends are like OMG WHAT NO WAIT WHEN IS THE NEXT BOOK AHHHH and then it's 6 years and the whole time I keep wanting to reread the series and pick up on little things I missed because they are SO GOOD! With this plot I'm more like ...really? umm..okay then I guess... I don't have a desire to reread anything because it was just so bleh. Like if GRRM hyped up this new book he was writing and omg it's going to be great and then it gets released and you run to the store 'cause you're so excited because he's an amazing author and then it's simple origami for children, no paper included. Just like ...oh..okay..lol...it's got nice art though!
THAT'S THE BEST I CAN DO RIGHT NOW. I NEED MORE COFFEE XD
omglol or the book is a continuation of asoiaf and it's like 'And no one died, and they settled their problems in a civil meeting in front of a impartial judge, and everyone lived happily ever after. Except the dead people, but we found their bones and put them to rest where they belonged.'
The entire ending looks like they just saw all the people bitching about the plot and decided to just end it. If this is meant to be a cliffhanger for next year, it isn't coming across that way. I was holding out hope that the plot still would develop interesting tasks and get really interesting. This "ending" is a slap in the fucking face.
I feel a TL;DR post coming on. XD Oh well.
Here are the dates the plot steps were released (omg this took forever to compile):
I think the "one Subeta day is two RL days" was okay in theory. But it doesn't really make sense for the tiny plot steps, like , , , etc. Why not make it more fluid, and release the small plot steps every day, then wait two days for the large ones? As it is, the timing kind of fell apart near the end, with 3-4 days in between steps, so I don't think anyone would have objected to it being sped up to every day. Especially since people were still able to catch up on plot steps later. It's not like you only had 2 days to explore the Bake Shop and then THAT WAS IT … you had as much time as you wanted to complete it and then catch up on the next steps.
Guys I know the plot lasted a long time but seriously calm yo tits. If you hate the plot then just don't participate. No one is holding you down and forcing you to read the plot updates. If you ask me, a flawed plot is better than no plot at all!! Or maybe you should offer some helpful suggestions on how to make the plot more exciting, rather than just saying "Ugh it sucks can't it just end now?"
I would have thought the HA-makers would appreciate the challenge of coming up with a creative way to cover up their zombie disease. I saw quite a few "normal" looking HA's that had effectively covered up their disease. But no, everybody just complains that they can't cure yet, and omg zombies are so yucky, and remember that one year where we got to choose our disease, boo. I really hope the plot wasn't ended early because of these people bitching about it. I think everybody is getting a little bit spoiled that Subeta generally caters to our every whim. Most website staff don't read your feedback about things and then change them. They say "Oh you don't like this? Too bad, you can't please everybody."
The Dialogue Was Lacklustre - I was kind of disappointed in the dialogue-only plot updates. They were a bit … dull. Previous plots that had similar updates were all pimped out - remember the masquerade murder mystery and the omen islands plot, where the updates were all hand-written on a big scroll with lots of cool art added in? I'm not saying I expected the same thing in this plot since we had all the other stuff going on too, because really the artists probably would have gone on strike at that point. XD But SOMETHING more interesting would have been nice besides just the NPC image and a bit of text. Off the top of my head, why couldn't there have been a big note image that Skitters' messages were written on? It just would have made those updates a bit more compelling, especially since we waited so long for them. Pretty much the only thing I disliked about this plot was the long wait time just for a tiny bit of story progression.
The Ending? - Okay um? I'm HOPING that this "ending" is a red herring of some kind and that the plot will be continued again soon. But if not, I'm assuming that the plot was wrapped up early, whether because the site problems caused it to extend too long or because people were complaining about it. But that ending was kind of lame and unfulfilling. :( Like others said, there are a lot of unanswered questions. I mean, what happened with the journal? Why were we keeping a journal log in the first place? It looks like there weren't even any updates to the journal since step - how come it just abruptly ends? And what's with that new shopkeeper chick Elsie?
While I'm beyond grateful for the prizes, and was excited as shit to get them, I felt the finale of the plot was terribly anti-climactic. It was like YEAHHH HUGE ZOMBIE CONFRONTATION WOOHOO SKITTERS VS ECKS WOOT GO TEAM and then...yeah.
Even though it's been a frustrating pain, this was the very first plot I followed from beginning to end, every step of the way. That means something to me, even though it was just a little lackluster.
[tot=caito]
I'm really confused, is the plot going to be continued lol ?__? I don't even really care anymore to know how it really ends if they continue it tbh. I was so bored and tired of this plot by the end, I just want something new I think. Subeta staff was smart in barraging its users with prizes to distract from the poor plot ending.
I'm frustrated because the whole thing could have been so much better. Steps could have taken longer if there was going to be a 2-day wait in between. Steps could have been more involved (the brewing one and the battling one stood out for me!)
Also what happened to Fantine? It seems like she was phased out. We need more story there before this truly finishes. Who is the person disrupting things in the underground? We need that answered as well. I kind of feel like this was a half-plot, not a proper plot. The Blake Steel plot...now THAT was a plot. As was the Masquerade Murder Mystery. This should have been planned much better (I know there was downtime, but a 10 minute step every 2 days? Really?)
I kind of feel like this was finished up super-quick and in a rushed way because the Masquerade is due. :/
I'm so so about this. The ending was unexpected and a little bit disappointing, but still, I was entertained, and frustrated during the plot, so it did it's part for me.
So is the Bake Shop going to be closed all year?
:|
yeah to be honest I was a little disappointed. some of the steps were really good, but others weren't as good. :/
sadjklsajds I agree, so much.
Despite some of the lackluster steps, and hiccups along the way, the plot was really building up. And then to finally get to the confrontation, a huge plot twist and zombies on the brink of rebellion, and to just leave it? What about elsie, the bake shop, sawbones, the lack of poison, skitters reaction, etc etc etccc
Yes, the plot was dragging, and everyone is anxious for masquerade, but there are so many loose ends left to be tied :c a year is a long time to just "pause" this event.
Ehhhhhhhh I will admit that the ending to the plot wasn't what I expected which may have been... the point? It ended pretty abruptly and it's hard to tell if that was the planned ending, or something that was shoved into place because of all the negative feedback with how much the plot was dragging. I don't really know how to feel xD
On one hand I'm really glad the plot is over but on the other I feel disappointed that it was so... bleh in the end. I feel bad for feeling this way since it's like, we got what we asked for. We just wanted the plot to fucking end. And it did. And now we're disappointed haha
Ahhh oh well. I liked how the ending left way for something to happen next year.
ONTO MASQUERADE 8D
The beginning was fun! Watching all the strange new diseases popping up and the stages of Fantine's transformation was interesting. But about midway through, it just turned into a big fetch quest to get supplies, and that didn't seem relevant. Fantine was dumped from the plot, and nothing was resolved.
This is the first Subeta plot I participated in, and I was not impressed. The new art was great. The prizes were great. The beginning had lots of potential. But it lost steam and crashed with the storyline.
honestly, I'm not that bothered. I thought it was pretty obvious that this was a (granted, poorly constructed) cliffhanger, so I'm happy to reap the rewards and wait for next year. I usually don't give a flying fuck about the Pandemic, but Subeta actually got me interested this year--so kudos to them. Anything is better than nothing, IMO. /shrug
I think it would've been helpful if there was some hint that the plot would continue next year (at least, that's what I'm assuming will happen). Maybe have Ecks say something like, "Hm, I'll give him a year to decide what to do next. Keep my number handy--I might call you again in due time." Or have Skitters say, "WE MUST DECIDE WHAT DO. HNNNGH... TAKE TIME. YEAR, MAYBE. BE READY--I CALL YOU AGAIN EVENTUALLY."
Or just blatantly say, "To be continued..." in bold, italic text. The problem with the first idea is that it assumes you'll be on the same team next year (which doesn't necessarily have to be the case--who'd remember, anyway), and the second idea would be a bit cheesy.
But something would've been nice. I was surprised when I got my prizes, because I was under the impression that the plot wasn't over.
I think I agree with most that has been said around here... love the amazing prizes, love the arts, LOVE THE UNDERGROUND omg so badly, but I had giant expectations for this plot because - disagreeing with what someone said - I loved the miniplot in 2011, there was plenty to do and the pastries/decoding thing was so cool :D
I understand this has been put down due to site issues and I could totally see a rushed end coming (due to all cure complaints) but it still makes me sad, and I totally can't keep the hopes up for YET another year :c I think its nice to have plotline every year, but this was so... yeah, anticlimatic, even if Ecks managed to do her 'face heel' turn and come out on top of situation...
Idk, to me it's over already though, as much as I don't care and don't even enjoy Masquerade much :/ Right now, my only concern is probably what already said, the Bake Shop cannot be closed with its items being requested on quests and such... D:
Edit for saying it's really obvious to me that the plot WILL continue next year, but I guess that, if I'll still hope for something, I'll hope they find a way to twist the storyline so it doesn't feel like "more of the same thing" :/
EDIT AGAIN TO SAY I WAS ALSO SO BOTHERED SKITTERS STOPPED CARING FOR FANTINE. If I were her, after ALL these efforts, I'd take the cure and ditch him
pshaw, y'all missed out. The real plot was more happening on the ZHA and UWO boards.
i hated the ending. but the rest of it LOVED IT!! love the prizes love the waiting for slow pokes to finish so we could move on. i loved this whole thing. except the way it ended. thank you subeta! in the midst of a crisis and every one bitching you still gave us a good plot and awesome prizes! thank you!!
I got some nice prizes and the plot events weren't too aggravating as far as advancing, which is all I care about. Subeta's plots, even the good ones, are still...pretty much what I'd expect from a pet site. By which I mean, the Subeta universe is disjointed and unimmersive to the point that I can't bring myself see the events as anything other than an opportunity to get some new items. Which I got. Which is great.
It feels good to be content and not care.
