I enjoyed the plot. And a part of me is glad its over....but the ending...it just sucked....Like seriously...
The bake shops still closed! Is it staying closed for a year? Are we getting a new NPC to open it?
I can wait with the unanswered questions until next year, but the ending...I dont know..how else to put it other than it sucks. It left more question's than answers.
Oops, I messed that up. x: I meant to say that it was implied that she was making poison.
The whole ordeal still leaves me with a ton of questions, which in turn leads to me feeling like the plot has too many loose ends. If Ecks wasn't behind the poison, who or what was? I could even ask how was the creator of the Baker's Kiss smart enough to make the virus strong enough to infect zapped people such as myself. I know the technical reason behind this was so that zapped people can participate in the plot still, but I'd like to think there was more of a story behind it. Skitters even freaked (I guess in a good way, judging by some of his dialog? xD) when he saw I was zapped and managed to get infected.
Yeah... so many questions. x_x
No, it's all Ecks. If you read her side of the dialogue then...yeah. It's obvious.
On topic: I'm severely disappointed in Skitters for just dgaf'ing about Fantine. In fact, what exactly was the point of Fantine's transformation, anyway? Sawbones was never elaborated on, and it didn't do anything but shut down the bake stop.
Forced infections. Not cool.
Also, I'm not sure if this is intentional, but letting people cure and have no way to remove fake limbs. A few people I've seen thought it would go away with the infection, but now they're stuck with them. Nevermind that part, I see it'll be addressed tomorrow.
This seriously did not need to last three years. I stopped caring a long time ago, and I doubt next year I'll even bother. Unless of course I'm spontaneously infected again.
But at least the art's pretty. /shrug
There was so much potential in this and.. I feel like the end was rushed because the plot had been delayed due to issues Subeta has had over the past month.
We were like.. half through the story, after half a dozen boring activities that consisted of either doing nothing, refreshing, or doing a couple quests and then BAM !! CONFRONTATION !! QUICK END THE PLOT BEFORE THE USERS DIE OF BOREDOM !!
disappoint

From the sound of it, Ecks was behind the poison. But she wasn't creating a mass poison that was going to infect everybody, like Skitters feared. It was just a small dose that affected a few, enough to cause the panic and put Skitters in motion. She was pretty much playing puppet master.
Though honestly, you couldn't really get the full gist of the plot without reading both endings. (I just saw Ecks on the plot board.)

To be honest I had given up on the plot a while back and was completing it because I had already invested time into it. I'm happy with the prizes and I'm happy this train wreck finally stopped screeching across the tracks. It wasn't the best ending in the world but it really needed to... end.
Best Part? Louis is sexy as hell. nods
I agree that the ending was anticlimactic, but you also had masses of users complaining that it was going too slow, that it sucked, that it was boring, etc. Maybe they just got sick of dealing with that and decided to end it. I know I probably would have. And they did leave a lot of unanswered questions for next year.
I, for one, mostly appreciated the slower pace because I have a job with a crazy schedule and I don't always have a lot of time to sit and wait 20 minutes to do something and 20 minutes to do it again, repeat 20 times.
The bottom line is, no matter what kind of plot Subeta does, some people will be happy, and some people will bitch about it. Oh well, it's all ok in the end, we got great prizes and we have more information about Skitters, Ecks, Fantine, and a bunch of new characters in the Underground. Not to mention a new shop with what looks like the beginnings of a pretty cool line of stuff.
I agree...last year's promise led me to believe this was going to be much more epic. I'm holding out hope that there is still more...maybe they gave up for now and will come back later after some reworking or something...or have a surprise in the next few days (ecks did tell you to go and not talk to anyone, that implies something else might happen?). Maybe it's an early April Fools joke ending?
Only the fact that the cure was also released is leading me to believe it is not a joke but possibly actually this...disappointing and cliffhanger-y.
That being said, I cannot get over how damn adorable the plushies are, and the tuft of hair, and the hanky thing, and the snake with the pinkie patch disease, and DID I MENTION THE PLUSHIES? And I totally LOL'd at being called backstabber. I find it mildly sad that I was expecting to be as excited over the plot/plot steps all along as I was over the prizes. But the prizes are definitely awesome.
- Holy cow I had completely forgotten about Sawbones o_O OMG there better be more now cause I neeeeeed to knowwwww
I dunno, considering how many people complained with how the plot was going.... I don't blame the sudden, unsatisfactory ending, if that is the case. This ending did solidify my INTENSE disliking of Ecks though.... Love the prizes at least.
Complain about plot not ending. Plot ends. Complain about plot ending.
ANYWHO, with the amount of negative feedback this plot got, I'm not really surprised it ended on such a whim like that. I'm diggin' the plot prizes, though. -snugs them all-
Not only Sawbones, but what was the point of gathering allies? The Wizard, Saggi, Mori and Nori? What was the point of getting magical amulets that shielded/broke through shields? Those are actions of prepping for war, not political intrigue. I mean, Skitters, yes, I can see that. He didn't know what was going on, and honestly thought there was going to be war. But why would Ecks do all that if her master plan was to just to publicly call out Skitters and force him into an alliance?

i was pretty disinterested too. the steps were really click here go here do this. the art was gorgeous, the new cave and the fishing step was really cool i liked that n-n. the plot writer was really witty but the amount of typos and grammatical errors really took away from the experience and trust me when i say, i am not the grammar police by any means.
it feels like the plot was rushed out because everyone just wanted it to end, there were probably more steps. I don't know this but it's just the feeling I have. I'm very disappointed that all the battlers who put time into beating Nacho Muerte who was not a step, were not rewarded with an achievement. I'm disappointed that being on either side of the war didn't really seem to have much impact on anything. The ending is extremely anti-climatic. The plot prizes however were gorgeous. The artists doing all the prizes should all have cake. Lots of it because you guys have put such an amazing effort into all the items. The person who did the guidebook to the recently diseased...ohohoho deceased 8D is my new hero. people cried out for a beetlejuice fan item and we were heard c;.
i feel like there was a lot of room for expansion with this. we could have had an awesome rs war or battle war or something. instead it didn't seem like how many items we collected or how fast we did it being a team was completely irrelevant. we all got excited about the sides we were on and it didn't matter. skitter's indifference to fantine's change was horrible to read too :c. it literally felt like he was so busy with other things he didn't even care.

I loved the plot, but I do think the end... it was a little blah, just for lack of a better word right now. Maybe the word I should use is unexpected. I did know the plot was going to end, obviously, but it made me wonder what we were doing all of this stuff for. Gathering allies, buying time (messing with the poison machine), etc. That seems like a little much for such an ending. The ending was so abrupt. Of course, this could all mean an even bigger plot next year. I'm really hoping so.
I was not interested in this plot in the least, the most "interesting" part was just be crazy frustrated and wanting it to end. So I for one am glad it's just over but if I knew that this is what would happen during the plot I wouldn't of even bothered starting it.
The only high part was the art of everything, all of that was astounding. _
I stopped caring at all about the plot like, what, two weeks ago? Before the downtime. I haven't read the dialogue since like, Bug Guy Joe or the wrestling stuff (I don't recall the order at all). The plot was horrible and slow and all the parts I actually read (combined with the crap slow pace and 2 minute long steps) just disappointed me. I was looking forward to this plot for an entire year. Last Pandemic was the first plot, on any site, I actively followed. I was super active in the plot board and brainstorming theories and I was so mad when it ended. But we were promised an epic continuation this year, and I couldn't be more excited! I had to wait a year, but it couldn't disappoint, right? After all, they had to know at least a bit of what was happening before the 2011 plot!
HA! I was disappointed on day one and it never got better.
The art, like always, was gorgeous. I adore my prizes and all but the bean bags/wearables are perfect for TCs. I enjoyed the brewing step, because all of the items were perfect for a TC, and I enjoyed fishing somewhat (despite all the annoyingness with the downtime), again because the items were perfect for TCs. But the plot, at least as far as kept my interest, sucked. And from all I've read from people who kept reading, it never got better (and possibly even got worse?). I'm so fed up with this crap plot that I don't even want anything to do with Subeta or the Masquerade. Which is horrible, because the Masquerade is my second favorite holiday (after Pandemic hahaha) and I need all of the new items (and some old ones) for a TC.
If this 'plot' is continued next year I will rage so badly and not read a word. I'm sick of this mess. At least it wasn't dragged into Masquerade.
I actually enjoyed the plot this year. I kinda like the cliffhanger ending. Reminds me of the last five seconds of the season finale of an exciting tv series and watching the screen fade to black, then yelling, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" cause I have to wait a whole summer to find out what happens next. Frustrating in a good way.
As far as pacing, I thought it was fine. Personally, it was slow for me, but that's only cause I'm on almost every day. I don't mind that most of the steps lasted a few days because that gave most people who have work/school/health/family obligations/time zone issues enough time to get caught up in the plot. Makes it more fair, even if hardcore (daily) players have to wait a bit. A few days between steps doesn't seem that bad.
Loved the new characters and the way we had to interact with the NPCs to advance in the plot. I liked the "quest" aspect of the plot (where we had to go look for certain items, or play around with a round of Matlal's Jewels, though the hunt for certain items required to proceed got a bit insane.
Art for the battledome characters was cool and the prize drops for the 5th wins?! Can you say, "Awesome?!?"
The new shops in the underground are pretty cool. Plenty of TC fodder introduced for this plot. And the prizes are really cool.
I kinda like the fact that this plot wasn't resolved. SubetaTeam does such a great job with plots and events year-round and most plots have a clear beginning, middle and end. This was a nice change of pace. Using my earlier analogy, the Survival plot is like a tv series where you have to wait until next season to find out what happens, while most of the other plots are more like movies that are contained within a tidy little package.
Personally, I thought there was plenty to do this time around and I'm kinda glad there wasn't more for us to do this year. It'll be nice to have a little break before the masquerade starts, and then Vesnali. Subeta burnout is no joke.
Anyway, just wanted to say I enjoyed the plot and thank you to the players and staff who made this a fun event for me. :)
I hate horses so I'm going to beat a dead one here. THE PLOT WAS TERRIBLE! I read through 10 times of 5 minute crappy dialogues, refreshed a thousand times and played a crappy flash game for the shittiest ending the the worst plot ever devised.
WHEW ok I got that out of my system.
Now like I've said before, I absolutely love site plots in general, and after watchng the keith answers right before this plot I was VEEEERY excited. The beginning of the plot came and I was thinking ok, things are just getting started, starting slow, but just starting. And then after day after 3 days of wait after day after 3 days of waiting we get what i found to be just completely terrible dialogue (and not just for the way too may typos and errors, I just did not like any part of it really...) And then a 2 minute game, 10 minutes more of dialogue spread out over days, 4 minutes of battling 10 minutes of dialogue spread over days... I couldn't believe it, this plot was NOT subeta quality. It was extremely poorly done, poorly thought out, and incredibly poorly executed (I understand the troubles with the site but aside from that the rest of the time, still poorly executed). I am extremely happy that this crapfest plot finally ended and yet call me a hypocrite but i cling to the hope that next year some justie will be done and we will be given a REAL plot nothing like this BS I suffered thru this year, because again I really do love sight plots in general aside from battling they are my reason for playing. On the subject of battling tho I am dissapointed to see not a single fricken battle item for a prize even tho there were opponents... I know battlers are pretty much a minority but come on we deserve something at least.. There was at least a few of the item prizes that EASILY could have been made weapons but of course we get next to no consideration...
To end on a positive note, the art at least was well done and I'm not even one to usually appreciate that sort of thing but I guess you had to with this plot because it was all it had going for it... literally the only thing good about it...
I'm on the fence with the plot. In some ways I view Epidemics like new book releases: they come out every year and sometimes you last one was so amazing but this current one just wasn't quite up to par. I liked the intrigue that is left behind with Ecks, and especially her development through out this plot. I liked the idea of the Underground being divided between the two sides, each trying to vie for more support.
I loved the unique steps as well. We've seen events that we've not seen on Subeta before. The fun potion machine, fishing, quests, and the chat/text system is amazing. I'm happy. The prizes at the end were the icing and cherries on an already yummy cake.
