Yes!! I think Ripley would be a cute name too! Plus those movies are much better than everyone gives them credit for.

Milla and Ripley are both kickass names for kickass women :D.

The Alien movies are fantastic by the way, especially the first one.

I love the name Milla. We got a lot of issues from people here in the US because they've never heard it.

That is a real shame, I thought Milla Jovovich was a pretty well known actrice. It's a name that is more common where I live :D.

I always thought she was too. Most people pronounce it incorrectly as well. Once again, another reason to move somewhere else. :P

I know a lot of people pass them off as trash, but I adore the Saw films, and got super happy when mentioned being a fan as well. The series is hardly without its flaws (especially the last two films) but I always found them fascinating, and while the minor characters aren't much to talk about, the main ones are actually pretty compelling. And of course, the traps are a blast to watch! I'm starting my annual marathon of the series tomorrow!

Was I the only person who liked John Carter?

I haven't seen the Saw movies, but my boyfriend owns them on DVD and as Halloween is approaching I'm pretty sure we'll be viewing them soon enough :p.

Nope, not at all! I loved this film, although I must rewatch it some time, it's been a while :). There is also a sequel in the making, John Carter: The Gods of Mars.

The series is pretty hit and miss to be honest, but if you enjoy some good suspense with your horror, the first two are damn good. The quality does go down as the series progresses, but they are worth a watch. Hope you like them!

Oh, thank God. I'm surrounded by all this hate, otherwise. I read the books the movie was based off of, and those were great. I really enjoyed the movie as well. Although, I was sitting there wondering where the alleged 250 million dollar budget was. And why did the critics have to be so hateful?

And I've always thought Taylor Kitsch was insanely attractive.

AND A SEQUEL? NO WAY. :o

I did not read the books, but I watched the documentary on the DVD which mentioned that there was a whole series of books. I never even knew that before I watched the documentary.

I did enjoy the movie, but as you said, where did the 250 million dollars go? I was a bit let down in the end, it feels like there should've been more to the film. I just looked up Taylor Kitsch because I couldn't put a face to the name anymore, but wooow, I AGREE! lol Yes a sequel, I did not know either but I looked it up on IMDB when I saw your post. I am curious about the sequel, I hope it will be on the same level or even better than the first film.

I like a lot of those Disney films that aren't really appreciated by the critics, like Tron Legacy for example, I really enjoyed this film, although the entire movie feels kind of cold because of the digital world and the use of blue throughout the film. I even enjoyed the Sorcerer's Apprentice, but this one gave me the same feeling as the John Carter film. I expected more.

The critics are pretty harsh on these films, but you can often see a pattern, if a lot of critics give negative reviews then there are a lot that will follow, even if they liked it. Roger Ebert was one of the critics that dared to go against the opinion of the rest. He gave a positive review for "The Happening" while it only scored a fantastic 17 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

[edit] I just thought of another movie like the above. Oz the great and powerful. Also hated by the critics, but this is a movie I really liked.

Well, here it goes a wave of weird WTF, and why the hell? sort of movies that I love but most people around seem to dislike: -Excision -Nazis at the center of the earth (title says it all, eh?) -all of the Hellraiser movies -The Bay -Franklyn <3 -Audition -Blood Creek -Nekromantik -Visitor Q -Lesbian Vampire Killers -Abraham Lincoln vs Zombies

And that's all I can think about right now :P

I don't know most of the movies you just named, but some of them sound like they are in the "so bad it's good" category :D.

I did hear about Audition though, it's a pretty gruesome Japanese film apparantly, not for the weak of heart.

So bad it's good category could be nazis at the center of the earth, lesbian vampire killers and abraham lincoln vs zombies. If we go for the 'not for the weak of heart' ones I'd say that'd be precisely Audition and also nekromantik, visitor Q. Blood creek, Hellraiser and the bay are kind of they wanted to make a good movie but it was not so good but original idea... I think.... On the other hand, Franklyn and excision are very special movies, I think they have some psychological thing in there. The fact that those movies can give me shivers it's what makes 'em so amazing. I'm an special fan of cult films, the ones that are not for the weak and art films but I also go to the movies to watch normal movies such as despicable me 2 <3

Those were the exact titles I was thinking about in the so bad it's good category :D.

I have heard of Hellraiser as well, it's this character right? I've never see that movie though, I definitely must watch it some time.

Thank you for sharing those movies, I will do some research on them and probably end up watchig them. I always love discovering new films.

OMG! That's the character, so cute! It's not so bad, a little bit disgusting and the effects are not the best but it's bareable. Sure, if I come up with any other I shall comment in here and pin you. Another movie that everyone over here has loves is The Rocky Horror Picture Show ;)

There are lots of other horror movie characters in rag doll version too. Cruel serial killers turned into cute little rag dolls lol.

That's great! You can always ping me and add to this list!

Ooooh Tim Curry in tights and high heels, I'm loving it :D.
