What a perfect opportunity to educate them. [Here's some material you could use] :V I don't know why she's so intent on assuring you that Australia is insignificant. It still surprises me when I come across adults, and there're still countries they outright have never even heard of. Mostly online. I could understand if they lived rurally in some developing country, but these are Americans and the like, lol.

how can you be sure australia exists and isnt some delusion implanted into your minds by the gov. or something

I love Australia. I want to visit and possibly live there one day. I will admit I don't read a lot of news about Australia, but then again I usually only read about animal abuse cases. XD Sad but true.

I've never met an American that ignorant about Australia. About some other countries, sure, but never Australia... I mean, we do have certain stereotypes about Australians (mostly similar to our stereotypes about California, but with more terrifying animals that want to kill you) but it's not like we don't care, America's just the kind of place very interested in generalizations even if it's to the detriment of ourselves and others. You sure were unlucky to run into that one.

I don't think most Americans are that ignorant about Australia :< But I could be wrong. Seems super silly to think that Australia wouldn't be a multicultural country since they're so close to all the Asian countries. It's kind of sad and depressing that there are such ignorant Americans :( I feel like other countries have a much better knowledge of the world in general than the average American.

I've met a lot of Australians through various internet adventures over the last half of my life. So any questions or stereotypes I ever had were quickly dispelled when I was around 13. But you guys still have a crazy amount of poisonous deadly animals and it makes me think you're all just a little crazy because of that. And apparently people brag about being related to infamous criminals, which is a new one I heard recently and haven't yet verified. The Aussie and Kiwi rivalries are also amusing to me. And I love the accent of course..

I don't think it's just Americans who are stupid, I've met/talked extensively with a lot of dumb people from all over the world.

Heh...I know when I moved from Utah to California some people legitimately thought Utah was in Europe. Most Americans do not care about any other country, and/or state but their own (or ones that directly effect them for that matter). Not all of America should be represented by these people that you talk to, I am not like them and...cough...I'm American -_-

That's odd. I wouldn't consider Australia to be insignificant nor would I consider any other country to be. They have all played a role in this world of ours. Plus, I'm quite aware of Australia, seeing as though people here like to mention it a lot (and not in a bad way).

I find this so amusing because up until last month the place i worked at is directly opposite to where sexpo is. I'd just be doing stuff and see people pouring out with LITTLE HUSSY bags.

The replies I'm getting are fixing my faith... for now. But for a few days I thought "HOW CAN SOMEONE BE SO STUPID??? WHY?????"
