Chuck hesitated at the doorway. He closed it quickly behind him and sat down against a wall, listening for a moment. He couldn't tell much from his smell; the animal DNA was so well-mixed with humans that he could only generalize: that was a canine... There was a reptile over there... The reptile-boy spoke, and Chuck snorted derisively at it. Perhaps it was a good idea to stick together, but... an "alpha"? And then there was all that sweet-talk nonsense about how everybody's "different" and "special." Gimme a break, he thought. We're not "different", we're freaks.
"You gotta be kidding me," he growled. "An alpha? No way. I ain't following anybody's orders."
Blinking as the soft voice of Eura, Shikou had a thought of offering to help, but seeing how sheepish and quiet she sounded… he guessed she didn’t need any help with feeling embarrassed enough already, and dropped the idea.
Shikou didn’t say anything to Allen when he spoke, but let his thoughts wander around that. It was a little harsh… well, really harsh actually, but very true. Of course, he couldn’t help but feel a little sheepish then, at how he phrased that. Was he really that bad? Last time he could actually look at himself, he had only gotten the gray antlers, but now… he was aware that he had many more traits added to him. Tails, ears, and… that feathery thing on his tail, not quite sure what that was, anyways. Rubbing the remains of his horns self-consciously, he sat with his knees bent a little, long tail curled around them. Of course, then again, it could go the other way – he didn’t know what Demi looked like. Apparently, ‘far luckier’, when it came down to Allen’s opinion. But that was aside the point when you looked at it; because they were all weirdoes.
Then the snake, Nathaniel he believed was his name, spoke his idea of forming a ‘pack’. Many thoughts about that rushed around Shikou’s head with those words, but he pushed them back enough to listen to the others. Though as they spoke he had to agree with Ace that an ‘Alpha’ would just lead to more problems and fighting, he didn’t think they should put that idea away completely. Especially since… there was no way he would be able to live in the human world, by himself. Normal, blind humans had it hard enough as it was, and he was a mutant to add to that. It’d be almost as impossible as living on the moon without oxygen. “I could see some advantages in a… team,†he agreed partially, carefully rephrasing ‘pack’ with a more cooperating sounding title. Wouldn’t that work well? A pack, just with more of a… ‘team’ organization. He wasn’t exactly sure about it himself, but hey; it sounded better than being on his own again. Blinking as another entered, he chuckled quietly at their comment. Though he wasn’t feeling spunky enough to make a comment like that, he totally saw the boys point.
Nathan shrugged, mumbling something else else about it only being a suggestion as he continued around. After another few circles he sat back in the patch of sun, long legs crossed and leaning back on one arm. Hopefully that brief round of exercise would keep him up long enough. He could practically feel his eyes dimming every time he almost nodded off.
"Beh, screw it," the snake hissed. He flopped back onto the floor with a light smack and yawned again. His eyes dimmed, lids staying half way open as he surrendered to sleep. Those idiot doctors could wake him up later.
(( Im going out to dinner with family, prob wont be back on tonight. dont kill nathan while he sleeps XD ))

ooc|| -walks up to Nathan with a knife- lol jk. xD
No body wanted to be alpha, but no body was pure. Allen could care less, but a tad bit part of him wanted to be alpha. From where they were going, they were trying to go for a Democracy or so. 'To put us all together and letting us show ourselves would be a small part in their plan. No doubt these scientists were are being controlled by an outside party.' Allen thought silently. His mind turned to the discussion at hand, musing in his mind. 'Or we all are reasonable "people" and believe each one of us are reasonable and have a sane mind...' Allen rose and checked around the room. There was no suspicious holes or such, other then the air vent over head. And if the scientists were to gas them there was the door and the window. Allen stood on the other side of the window. 'If there was a fight, I guess that it would be better to not fight or just go after the ones who are likely to attack me...' Allen looked at the snake and was tempted to do do something to the guy. Of course nothing too the extreme but- 'Does snakes even go in packs? I have heard they live together but do not travel in together... That's a bit strange but then it would be reasonable We are all mammals but Nathan is a reptile and he is human, none the less. If does take after his reptile "relatives", then he would need warmth. It looks like the scientists did not want him to do anything or just did not seem to even care. And it would probably mean something is going to happen to make him NOT act as he is when he is in a heated area... or they just put him here and thought the window would be enough for him' Allen concluded before he grimaced. 'I have far too much thinking time on my hands...'
((Onto Other Calamities.:. >_>; remind me to keep one eye open when you're around))
((Woah, yeah there have been a LOT of posts. I read them all, but I'd rather not have to do that every time I've been gone for a day...though I don't intend to be gone for too long any time soon.))
Ash had watched all the commotion in silence, hoping no one got hurt. The conversation moved to what they were going to do as another hybrid entered the room. When Nathan mentioned a 'pack' Ash perked up. She had been worried that she would have to go out into the world alone looking...like she did. That wasn't a particularly thrilling idea. Ash actually thought having a leader would be a good idea. She didn't think people would have to fight over it. She certainly wouldn't have wanted the job, but she supposed there were others who really would have. In any case, they were right that it may cause problems. At the same time, without a leader everything would take twice as long to decide. Where they would live, whether they would have contact with the rest of the world, and all of that would take forever to decide. But she supposed when they did decide those things, the outcome would be more fair for everyone.
When the talk had died down Ash decided to voice her opinion. "I don't want to be a downer or anything, but even if we do form a team or whatever, how are we going to...make money? I kind of doubt we'll be able to find work at the local grocery store and we aren't really lawyer material..." She looked down, hoping they didn't get mad at her. She thought it was rather important to address. She did suppose the government owed them all some money - not to mention a house and proper education. Or the past 18-odd years of their lives.
As Eura watched the elk hybrid leave, she suddenly remembered that when she threw the chair, Ace gave her a spiteful look. She clenched her fists, raised her head, and glared at him. She fixed her flaming orange eyes at the hybrid and was about to pick up another chair as a weapon when she thought better of it. The orange glow in her eyes faded as she merely smirked at him instead. Eura smoothed her dusty hair. Nevermind, what am I thinking? I don’t want to attack anyone. I wasn't here to make any enemies. Her ears picked up the voice of the reptile hybrid, Nathan. He was suggesting that they form a group and stick together. Eura regarded this idea. Natalie, the bat spoke quietly about this. She was right; we would fight over who would be Alpha. The bat-eared fox, Chuck clearly didn’t want to follow anyone, while Shikou nodded in agreement at the idea of forming a pack. Ash said something about the lack of money and how we would survive once we were out of here – if we ever will be. Eura put her sneakers back on and considered this. Yes. Will we ever be released? Or contained in this hospital forever? She hadn’t thought about that yet. She glanced to the right, Allen got up and looked around. He was probably restless. The noise decreased and Eura decided to speak. “Nathan, it’s a pretty good idea, and I agree with everyone. We should definitely stick together, but I don’t think anyone should be the leader.†The eagle owl folded her wings and continued. “Some of us may not like the idea, but trust me, it’ll be darn useful in the future.†She cleared her throat and regarded everyone, hoping they would agree. “In the meantime, if we ever learn that they’ll keep us here…maybe forever, we should always be on our guard. Formulate an escape plan maybe?†Eura realized that she said more than she intended and quickly closed her mouth.
"An escape plan? What would we do after that?" Natalie asked quietly. "They would look for us. Our pictures would be plastered on posters all over the country. They can't afford to lose us; we are their best discovery since time travel." She snorted slightly, bat ears twitching uncomfortably. "We should try to escape, but make it look like an accident. Make it look like we... died or something."
If they escaped during a lab explosion, they could make it look like they were killed in the explosion, they run. They wouldn't be looking for them then if they thought that they were dead... hopefully. Though they would need to be in a secure room...
Once again, Chuck listened silently. The talk grew of escape plans and lab explosions... He rolled his blank eyes and straightened up in his seat against the wall, saying, "We can't escape. Even if we find nine dead bodies to blow up so it'll look like we died, they'll find out that we're gone. They'll spend whatever money they've got making crucial tests trying to figure out whether those bodies are ours or not. They'll check dental records, make DNA comparisons, examine the bone structures... No matter what we do, they'll always find us. We're trapped any way you look at it."
Ash wanted to roll her eyes at the idea of an explosion. So they couldn't escape but they could explode a hospital? Not to mention kill people to do it? She wouldn't do that.
"You know that the skeletons would remain, right? All they'd have to do is look at the remains to realize that they didn't have tails, wings, antlers. A few of us might be able to get away, but the rest of us wouldn't." She wanted to escape as much as the next hybrid, but they needed to think it through a lot more than this. Beside, they hardly knew eachother and they already talking about going and relying on eachother when practically the whole world seemed to be against them? Sure. It was a lovely idea and Ash hoped it would work. She hoped they could all get along, but already they were arguing and they'd hardly been in the same room together for ten minutes.
[ Whoah, sorry guys, I've been working on some art for an entry in an adoptable contest - I'll post soon. Dx Edit: Also, Binx won't be on much tonight, doubt she will have enough time to reply much, if all at all. I really hate to ruin a seemingly nice roleplay evening, but if you could make sure to not get too carried away and leave us behind, I'd apprectiate it. ^-^' ]
[ Sorry if events and such get a little mixed up. xD Had a fews major things to catch up with, hehheh... ^-^' ]
Once again Shikou sat there leaning against the wall, his hand now back resting in his lap, perfectly calm once again. His ears twitched and swiveled about as he listened to the group discuss more on the subject of packs and leaders, hoping silently they didn't discard the idea completely. Sure, he wasn't all that warm-and-cozy with these new aquaintances of his, but they seemed much more inviting than a world of murmurs and darkness, in his opinion. If things came to them leaving, and everyone split their own ways, he'd probably end up living here in the hospital still, or sent to some funny farm, or nursing house - because, living on his own was simply out of the question... and his oddities were sure to contribute to his options once he was left in a situation like that. But if it did come to that... He didn't want to think about it.
Appreciative of the subject change, though slightly lost as to why the others could already be thinking of such things, Shikou blinked his bright green eyes slowly, shifting them blankly down to the floor. Escaping from here, that was really what they were thinking about? Of course, he didn't like the idea of staying here forever, but as of now... things weren't very bad, if you thought about it. They were getting food, a place to sleep, there own rooms (not cages, rooms), and they were getting these so called 'good' shots, or 'vaccines', that were suppose to keep you healthy, instead of tearing you apart from the inside and out. Yes, Shikouvike had many doubts on how pure this kindness they were getting was, but it was something better than any of them had probably experianced. And... escaping to try and live in this world that circulated around humans? There were many problems with that idea; the biggest being where they would live, and how they would money for the importants things, like food and water. Apparently, someone else was thinking the same thing as he was, because they spoke up, interrupting his thoughts and bringing his ears pricked towards them. "Good point..." he mumured quietly.
Once more Shikou blinked his eyes quickly, in a more surprised way than the last time. His ears flicked forward with slight curiosity at Chuck's suggestion, but nearly as soon as they had, his gray ears flicked backwards. He had many mixed feelings towards that, since it was just a little... unnimagineable that they'd even get out in the first place. They probably had maximum security simply on the doors leading to the other parts of the hospital - to simply get out of this wing would be hard. To get outside... unless they were being relesed, or simply held here until they wished to go, then that was probably impossible. He was quite sure he wasn't the only one who thought that impossible, by the way Ash responded to the comment.
[ You're really going to quit, Binx? Alright, I won't stop you. Still, we shouldn't go very fast until Rosie gets in a post. If many more days pass, I'll send her a message, but I don't want to be obnoxious. xD ]
Ash shifted uncomfortable in her chair. Everyone had been silent since she'd spoken. Had she said something wrong? She was just trying to be helpful, to make sure that whatever they chose to do could be done. Then again, people don't like being corrected. But she thought the hybrids might be different, that they might treat eachother like people. So far they had mostly treated eachother as the humans had treated them, just without the needles. Everyone wanted to be better, because the humans had made it damn well clear that the hybrids meant nothing to them. If they meant nothing to the weak, cruel humans, then what must we mean to eachother? If they couldn't feel like they were as good as the humans, they would probably want to feel like they were better than the other hybrids. Ash supposed it was a natural feeling, but she didn't like it, not at all. She knew she was no better or worse then the humans as a whole, thought she was certainly better than the vile creatures who'd been experimenting on them for their entire lives. She didn't resent them so much for the experimentation or taking her from her family, mostly because she hadn't had one. She resented them for the psychological damage that would be much more difficult to get over. And these hybrids were clearly effected by that.
