Eura nodded at everyone as they said their names. “Nathaniel, Shikou, Demi, Ace, and Allen.†She smiled at them, amused. “So I guess we all know each other now. Unless there are others who are yet to come.†She unfolded her ash coloured wings and gave them a stretch. How long did we have to stay here? What did they want from us anyway? She glanced upon some files on her way here. Printed on some clearly were the words “Mutant Weapon Use.†Were they planning to use us as mere objects of power? She shuffled her sneakers uncomfortably. She was itching to fight. It was in her genes; that rush of adrenaline every time something made her angry. She wanted to punch something, at least. “So.†She glanced at everyone while fighting the urge to tear the whole place down. She shook her head and cleared her thoughts. Eura wanted some opinions. “What do you guys think they’ll do to us later on?â€
Nathan shrugged and stood up to get his blood moving, walking in slow circles around the room and thankful he didn't have to stoop. If he got too cold his blood would slow and he might pass out but, he wasn't too sure. He shrugged, scales glinting in the light. Raising a thin brow he switched course to the window Demi was standing at. usually he wouldn't have done anything but she was soft spoken... they might become good friends.
"Rough and thick," he answered Demi blandly. Hell, he had lost his sense of smell and was cold as a stone most of the time, he wasn't about to go commenting on other people's problems. He moved again and tugged the other set of curtains closed like the red elk had requested. Nathan shrugged in response to Eura's question.
"Dunno... I'm hoping there's food somewhere in the very near future though." He hoped there wasn't any fighting. He hated having to spar at the lab and it was so boring. Plus all he would be useful for would be interrogation and tricking people like guards. Not much of a 'bing bang boom imma knock you out' kind of guy.

Ash's hands reached out, sliding over the cold metal beneath her. It made her feel sleepy and she wanted to sink back into the darkness from which she had only just awoken. She opened her eyes, blinking back the spotty light that filled them. She wasn't wearing her contacts so everything was blurry and dim. She reached around until she felt something soft and warm - a human hand - passing her her glasses. She slid them on and looked around. She was in a small room, rather like the lab she'd been rescued from. The walls were a clean white and nearly everything in the room was made of stainless steel or white plastic. It was a sterile, unfriendly atmosphere and she really wanted out of it.
Standing next to the metal table she was laying on stood a tall woman with sleek blonde hair pulled back into a bun. She was saying something.
"...finished all your tests while you were unconscious. You're free to go now, Ash." She finished with a smile. "You can meet the others in the waiting area, you'll be shown to your room later."
Ash was helped off of the table and shown to a large room with a high ceiling where a bunch of kids were waiting. Hey - she knew these kids. They were some of the other hybrids from the lab. Was that...Demi? She recognized Eura and Ace, too. The others looked familiar, but she didn't know their names. She walked over in time to hear the introductions start.
"Hey..." She offered a sheepish smile and went to take a seat in one of the chairs. "I'm Ash. Uh, I've got fruit bat, lion, and black mamba DNA. S'why I look like a gargoyle - or so I've been told. I'm not really sure what that means, to be honest." She smiled at the rest of the group, hoping they didn't think she was weird. She supposed they were about as strange as she was, what with being part-animal, but she worried nonetheless. She was already nervous with all the labcoats walking around this place, it's eerily white walls and squeeky linoleum. Ash hated linoleum.
She looked around at the other faces, envying the boy who'd introduced himself as Nathan. He was lying in the sun, probably warm. She shivered, but she wouldn't say anything. She was only one third cold-blooded, so she would be fine in the chilly interior of the hospital. She did wish she had a blanket.
((Finally posted!! Sorry if I held you guys up at all...))
"I could have given you some fish, but nurse took me out of the water," Allen replied as he robe from the wheelchair and placed the towel-like blanket on it. He looked at each one, no way would the people just put them all in one area. There had to be something, leaving a group of people to discuss possible plans was a bit too stupid for these people. 'Maybe they want us to kill each other, see who is the stronger one and use the person as a weapon... Whatever, I can make them dehydrated, get them irritable, and then soak all the moister from their skin,' Allen thought indifferently as he stretched his legs. "Unless they are going to give us a cool new device that makes us look like them, we may not be seeing what the outside looks like," Allen replied, especially sounding sarcastic at the device part. Not wanting to talk anymore he simply sat back on the wheelchair.
As Eura listened to them, a sudden warmth splashed over her. For the first time ever, she didn’t feel alone. She bit her lip. She never had any friends. She was half glad that the mysterious doctors took her away. Eura always was a strong person, but this time, she felt like crying. After listening to Nathan describe the curtains to Demi, another mutant came in and introduced herself as Ash. The hybrid Eagle owl fixed her fiery orange gaze on her and then softened it. She seemed nice enough. Good, Eura thought while shaking her wings once again – she so wanted to fly. No one here poses as a threat. She closed her eyes and wrapped her wings around herself to keep warm. The feathers felt softer than before as she snuggled into them. She didn’t feel like asking questions anymore. Keeping one eye open to stay aware of her surroundings, she waited to see what would happen next. Eura felt a tear trickle down her cheek. She moved her wing to wipe it away. No, I was wrong. She thought as the last splash of warmth turned into a wave of cold dread. I’ll always be alone, no matter how many people are around.
Shikou listened to the other’s silently while he stood there, leaning against the wall. As one other came in the room, he didn’t waste his time glancing at them, since he had thirteen year’s knowledge that ‘looking’ wouldn’t get him anywhere. Instead, he listened carefully to their voice, how they spoke as they introduced them self, his ears pricked toward the girl for a moment before drooping solemnly again. Irked by his bright hair that had fallen in his face; he blew it away from his green eyes, before closing them pointlessly. His ears remained still, only twitching now and then nonchalantly, as he listened to the others drone on to different topics. For a moment, he blinked his eyes open curiously to ‘look’ in the direction of a female voice across the room, a habit he still had from back in the days he could see. Slightly curious at what she had said, ‘what do these feel like’, he wondered what was going on, but didn’t have the heart to ask. The same girl had also mentioned something about curtains, opening and closing them, but besides from feeling the warm rays now and then, he had been oblivious to the fact this place even had windows.
No windows… he remembered it clearly, that first day he had spent at the lab when he was a child. He’d been terrified, shaking and shivering as the white-clad adults dragged him down dim hallways and to a large room. It was full of equipment, chemicals, and had cages lined down one side. There had been no windows, and hardly any man made light… from there they went down a hall, with cages that had a simple barred door in the front, and were separated by brick walls – exactly like the cages they kept dogs in at the pound.
Coming back to reality, he closed his bright green eyes again, this time a little tighter. His ears flicked back, almost making him look angry about something, though really he was just fighting off his own bad memories. Shikou sort of wondered if this place was that similar to the labs, or if it reminded the others of it the way it did him. Maybe it didn’t look the same… of course, he couldn’t tell. To him it felt the same, and smelt the same. “Maybe they will just let us go, hopefully that will be the case.†Opening his sharp green eyes again, he looked off in the general direction of the voice who’d said that, still the same girl… Demi; that was her name? “Let us go where? Do you remember where you lived before the Lab? Anyways, I bet none of our parents want us back. It’s not like we’re just going to walk outside, and go off to live with humans, like normal people,†he responded, a little more harshly than he meant to. ’We’re mutated, altered freaks. We’d be better dead than we would out there… they’ll probably just start testing on us again, just like scientists…’ he thought to himself, in a rather pessimistic state.
Ash was happy when Demi came to sit next to her. She was about to say something when Demi mentioned blankets. Ash knew she hadn't said anything about them out loud, but she had also heard about what Demi could do. She was about to thank the girl for trying, but she was already moving away, looking embarrassed. Ash looked down, hoping it wasn't her fault. She didn't want to scare away her only friends in the world.
When Demi spoke again, it was to say that they might be leaving. Ash hoped so and her dark eyes lit up at the thought. But then the...odd boy across the room spoke up, himself. He seemed rather cynical, off in his own little corner. He'd hardly said two words since she walked in and now he was being a Debbie Downer. Not that that was unexpected. Someone had to be realistic, she supposed. In any case the family thing wouldn't have mattered for Ash, anyway. She didn't have family. The little group of people in that room were the closest thing she had and most of them hardly knew her. None of them knew her like a proper family would.
"These people are really nice, for scientists." Ash nearly spat the last word, it tasted so bad coming out. She shuddered just a little and continued. "I don't really think they are going to poke and prob us unnecessarily. I mean, I don't trust them, but they seem different. Maybe that means something?" She said the last part with a little too much enthusiasm - trying to convince herself more than anyone else.
She rose from her seat and went to stand over by Demi. She was going to put a hand on the other girl's shoulder, but she had gathered that that really wouldn't do anything so she spoke instead. "I hope you are right, Demi. I hope they do let us out."
Wiping the last of her tears away, Eura watched Demi and Ash converse. She sighed; at least they were happy. She would never be. She glanced around the room. She smelt the mutt – Shikou, who had a problem like hers. The loss of sight, but his was much more severe. Eura’s sight returned at night. She felt sorry for him. To the left she saw a bulge in the curtains – the bat named Natalie was probably behind it, shielding herself from the light. Nathaniel – the complete opposite, laid himself beneath the sunshine. Ace sat across her, clenching his inhaler. She took off her sneakers and revealed her clawed feet. Stretching them, she accidentally scratched herself. Cursing quietly, she rubbed the sore spot. She momentarily looked at the corner where Allen – the white shark was. He smelled like seawater and chlorine. Eura sensed that he didn't want to be here. Seeing all these hybrids made her angry again. How could they do this to us? She muttered angrily. Eura had the sudden urge to tear something apart in order to release the rage that bottled up inside her quickly. No. She thought. I don’t want to freak anyone out here. But she couldn’t hold it in any longer. She stood abruptly, ignoring the stares she would probably receive, grabbed her chair and flung it towards the wall. It collided against it with a loud crash. Bits of wood flew everywhere. Satisfied, Eura sank down on her knees and breathed heavily. Way to make new friends. She muttered sarcastically.
(( I'll be gone most of the afternoon today. :c I'll post again after 4:30 PM subeta time. ))
OCC: Sorry if this is a lot to ask, but can we slow down a bit? I couldn't get on last night, and you guys are already really far...
BIC:
"Natalie, bat." She said simply as one of the girls asked who they were. She shifted uncomfortably in her seat and sighed, bringing her knees up to her chest and wrapping her arms around her knees. Why did they want to talk to each other? Silence was golden, the best thing in the world.
Or maybe it was just because she was a bat hybrid. Though she loved silence, she didn't mind talking a little bit, but sometimes people overreacted.
Natalie squinted, the light was becoming a little too bright for her. It at least should be dimmed slightly, right? Or was there some other hybrid who needed bright light?
ooc;; I think slowing down would be a good idea, Spotted. If everyone could just take it down a notch, that'd be appreciated.

Listening with a fraction of his heart to what Ash had to say, Shikouvike sort of mused on that for a second. Sure, these people were a bit different, but that didn’t mean their group of misfits was – and to him, that’s really what the problem was. It didn’t matter who you went to, or even if they found a few people who did accept them, they still didn’t fit in. He was pretty confident that there were always going to be a larger majority of people who wanted to find out what they could do, and use them to their advantage, just because there were how they were. Though he kept his mouth shut, this person sounded like they were having a hard enough time believing what they said, without him adding to that. As for Demi’s little overload, he hadn’t even seen it coming, take that either way. It wasn’t usually the soft-spoken ones had such short tempers hiding away, and ‘body-language’ wasn’t his best subject, as you could assume – the tone of someone’s voice was about the only tip-off he was able to notice. Shikou practically jumped out of his skin when someone’s fingers got a clutch on the collar of his shirt. For a second there, he had no idea it was Demi, heartbeat skidding about in astonishment as he pressed a little closer to the wall in attempt to get away from whoever had grabbed him. You think he’d be used to things like that; people jumping at you out of the blue, living in the Lab for so long and getting dragged around day-and-night by scientists… but he still wasn’t. Ears pressed tight against his bright hair, he was completely ready for something, but the slightly muffled noise of Demi’s lecture came instead. Shikou relaxed a bit, but he was still pretty tense, and his pulse was pounding too fast to comprehend in his ears, much too fast to count. Letting out a little snort of warm air, he reached up a hand to find Demi’s wrist, as if in hopes she’s let go of his shirt. When her little freedom speech was over, he just staring poisonously at the voice that had addressed him. “If you think any of us need anymore time in that place, then maybe you didn’t take back enough memories. I may not agree with your ideals, but Lord help me if you fancy that idea, do it yourself… I’m. Not. Going. Back,†he hissed; temper really snatching the reins of the situation. Shikou thought it was pretty clear that none of them wanted to go back, and personally, he’d rather die. Blinking his neon green eyes wide as the crash splintered near by, he wondered what on earth might be going on, but once again couldn’t find it in him to ask. Either Demi had gotten pissed, or someone else had, he guessed. After a second, he closed his eyes, and took in a long breath before letting it out as a sigh, and sinking down on the floor. But there was something else in the air… was that blood? If it was, it wasn’t much, though he was pretty sure that’s what he smelt. For a second there, he wondered if it was him who was bleeding, but guessed he would have felt something cut him. “What… who’s, um, bleeding…?†he asked quietly, a little uneasy asking that, but it was going to bug him if he didn’t. Raising up a subtly shaky hand, he rested it on the side of his neck idly, irked with his skipping-heartbeat.
ooc|| o.o; Ok... I kind of had to skim over most of the posts, so if mine is a little sketchy, I'm sorry. ._.;;
bic|| A female nearby stepped closer, her high heels clacking against the floor. The noise seemed irritatingly loud. "Alright, you're done," she said, sounding too cheerful to be sincere. "Would you like me to take you to the others?"
Others? ...Oh yeah. There were other hybrids, weren't there? Goody. "No," Chuck snapped, glaring at her with his blank, foggy eyes. He had the choice of wearing sunglasses, but he preferred to just stare at people that he didn't like, just to creep 'em out. "I'm fine. What room're they in?"
"Um... 301, on the third floor," she replied hesitantly, and he was pleased to hear that she sounded disconcerted.
Without another word, he turned and left, walking as smoothly away as anybody with normal vision. His fingers trailed lightly across the halls as he walked. He nearly knocked over a stand of empty syringes and boxes of latex gloves, but he didn't care. There was a distinct dinging noise coming from down the hallway, and he knew that was where the elevators were.
An elevator opened with another ding and he walked into it with another nurse. "Floor 3, please," he growled. He could hear her heart rate speeding up slightly, and he could've sworn he felt her stare, but he didn't care. His favorite part about the hospitals were the elevators. They were so quiet--usually, anyway. Out in the hallway, though, his ears were always hurting from the noise. It was irritating.
He heard the elevator doors slide open with another ding and left, following his senses. Most of the rooms seemed the same to him: one or two people in each, most of them laying still--but he got to one that was definitely different. There had to be more than five people in there, and he could hear their voices even through the closed door as he stood outside it.
He looked over at a couple doctors who were talking in low voices and interrupted, "Is this room 301?"
"Y-Yes," stammered one. I wish I could see his expression, Chuck thought. He smirked at the doctor and opened the door, stepping confidently in. Now that he was closer, he could count them: one, two, three... eight. Wow. The whole gang was there.
Allen watched as the elk-girl had a temper tantrum. 'Looks like she has a temper... elk beats mutt, but elk beats shark? Hmmm'
"That goes without saying, try convincing almost a million or so people. It would go down in angry protests and all that, there would be merely a few who would have a understanding mind. We, if you want to include the other non-physically altered people, have different views and ideals. And by looks, you would pass off as a human, and Shikou would not. You are far luckier then he is, in fact, you are far luckier then half the people in here," Allen replied as he shrugged off the blood, ignoring the smell. He remembered Ms. Elizabeth's visits, she brought in a very old comic book. It was merely about a group of people who were in the somewhat position as they were, and people judged them mercilessly. He looked at the rest, remaining passive. "The best we have is staying here and wait it out, rather then go out as be crucified by the rest of the world. I would rather get a full body injection rather then get cursed and god knows what by a person who does not know a think about me". 'Looks like the Ash and Eura are going to be sticking close to Demi... So, I will be attacked by one of them or not.' He looked t the new person with the same expression he had on. He looked at Natalie, Shikou, and Nathan and then sighed. His mind wandered over to the promised pictures Ms. Elizabeth would bring of whales, dolphins, fish and others. He managed to convince her to bring a Magazine, but then, it would be either censored out or free of marks.
(( okay, we’ll slow down. c: let’s just stay in the room for a little while longer – until everyone’s at the same pace. sound good? xD ))
You freak. You FREAK. Eura thought angrily. Now you pose as a weirdo to them. Idiot. No one will want to make friends with you now. Eura remembered it vividly. She got into trouble a lot of times at the orphanage; too many times, that no one wanted to speak to her anymore. She held back tears. Thoughts raced through her mind. No friends. Friendless. Loner. Loser. Eura heard someone mumble and glanced at the elk hybrid who sat down next to her. That was Demi, wasn’t it? She was motioning towards her cheek. What-? The Eagle owl then touched her own cheek and skimmed over a wetness. Her fingers were covered with blood. “What… who’s, um, bleeding…?†She heard someone say. Eura turned towards the voice. It was Shikou, the mutt. “Uh, me. Sorry about that.†She replied and looked at Demi once again. “I’m sorry, don’t mind me. You won’t understand.†Maybe she was better off alone. She thought bitterly. Using her ash wings, she wiped away the last of the dark blood. After listening to Allen rant and argue with Demi, a new mutant came in – a bat eared fox.
Nathan grumbled something unintelligible and shifted on the floor. Still not warm enough... The snake boy shivered slightly and yawned again, jaw cracking as it almost unhinged and tongue flicking out. Eww, blood. There was too much damn commotion and tension in here, verbal fighting and then chair throwing. Really everyone just needed to chill out. People being pessimistic, thinking things would be the same as before, thinking they'd be let go...
Personally Nathan didn't care too much. So long as he didn't have to fight petty wars, wasn't approached by needles and was fed he would be pretty okay. Couldn't everyone else just focus on the now? Speaking of that...
"Oi," the tanned teen rolled onto his back to try and warm his belly, eyes half-lidded as he looked around, "We gotta stick together ya? Form a pack, herd, whatever you wanna call it?" Everyone seemed to think they were all alone. It was so at the labs but they were free from that place now and they needed to stick together like the crappy mutated family they were. He had a point to asking but wasn't sure he wanted to bring it up himself. He tasted the air again before continuing, "Who's gonna be the alpha?"

xD So. Hi there. I'll get a post up soon, kay?
Ace lifted eyes to the ruckus going on now.
Everything went chaotic in a few minutes. He cracked a smirk, arching a brow. Quite amusing really. His pale eyes followed the movements of the others as they introduced themselves. And then, sure enough, onto the debate of what was going to happen. Well, he thought they would be stuck in here for a while. There was no way they would let them out. To so casually throw them away into a world that would eat them alive would be even more cruel than to stick than to stick them with needles for the rest of their life.
He noticed a girl in particular he had exchanged a very short conversation before. Of course, then he was sedated because the scientists did not want him to trigger attacks. But he remembered her name; Ash. His eyes flickered in acknowledgment before eying the girl who had thrown the chair. Brilliant, he thought, scoffing. There WERE lunatics in this place. Of course, it was to be suspected, since anyone could get cranky around here. Huh, atleast Ace could be civilized about it. He pursed his lips just slightly before resting his head on the palm of his hand, bored now.
His ears involuntarily perked at the sound of the snake mutant, Nathan, speaking. A pack? Well, it would be interesting.
"A pack? Well, it's actually not a bad idea..." He spoke up, in his soft, untainted voice, trying to keep his aggression under lock and key. It was working nicely. "If we were to band together, it might give us some sort of leverage. As for an alpha, that might be a bit of a problem. We're all quite...different. Mentally, and well, physically. I'm sure a fight would ensue for this 'top' spot as leader. And when that would be chosen, well," He smirked, shrugging lightly, "It usually just leads to more fights because others don't like looking up at superiors." He knew something about trying to form alliances, from when he was bunched in a room with mutants altered with canine DNA. It usually would start out with them trying to band together, but when they were given the choice of Alpha, things usually exploded in their faces. But, what did he know? Maybe it would work out.
"I agree with Ace." Natalie said quietly. "We each have a different strand of DNA, some of us have more than one, so we would want to live differently. It would be extremely hard to create a 'pack'," she did air quotes around the word pack, "where we would all have our way. And we'd fight over who would be the 'alpha'. Not the best idea."
Natalie blushed slightly, and lowered her head. It was the most that she had spoken to the group ever since they met each other. She was the quiet one; the one who never talked much but was quite intelligent, though she never liked to show it. No one knew if it was her bat DNA, or if it was just her personality.
She liked people to think that it was her personality. The bat didn't want others to think that she acted differently before the DNA was fused into her blood stream.
Nathan shrugged on his spot, eyes dulling as he was tugged towards sleep. "Just a suggestion," he drawled rolling back over. The feel of linoleum on his scales wasn't very pleasant. "Just wondering how this will work out. They'll probably keep us together and we need some sort of order..." he paused again, blinking rapidly in order to stay awake then stood up seeing as it wasn't working.
"Just as a tidbit, I don't really care." Another yawn and Nathan was back walking circles about the room to stay awake. Really were these doctors stupid? Hadn't they taken biology in high school? Snakes needed to stay warm not stuck in a cold room. "And I wouldn't fight. Don't force me to move after meals or put more clothes on me and I'll be dandy." Needless to say the scientists that worked with him liked to used random old timer slang.
