She looked the girl over and frowned. "I've seen her around before but I can't remember her name." In fact, Sonia had seen her around before. Yet, the girl had no idea of any of it.
ooc:It's okay. So is mine. >.<
Hearing the other male, Caine resisted the urge to return the growl, keeping up his gentlemanly charms. "Seiren," he murmured, "Some of the rougher crowd is coming out now. I would feel better if I got you off the street. Can I walk you home?"
As he spoke, he kept his eyes trained on the others, fully aware that they could hear him quite clearly. He didn't like them being so close.
((Sorry this was so short...))
Jasper crossed his arms looking at the other male unmoving. He leaned against the wall behind him, listening to the girl and him talk about leaving. "We'll Follow" he announced in a soft voice. Addressing both Sonia and Caine. He smiled ever so slightly yawning as he did so. His eyes kept moving from Sonia to the other Vampire, watching her protectively. He had almost forgotten the other humans in the room. Coming back to reality he noticed a few creepy men eyeing Sonia and him. He Snarled slightly, acting more like an animal than a human.
Looking back at the men, they had turned away from them. "Geez. He just met me and he's growling at strange men that look at me wrong?" Sonia wasn't used to others looking out for her for a long time. Unable to keep her attention on one thing, her gaze went back to the other vampire.
Feeling the touch on his arm and the words telling him not to worry about it, He took a step back from the Situation and viewed it. I Only just met her. I wonder if shes Creeped out by Me. Its odd isnt it, that I would protect her. He eyed the girl, wondering what she really did think of him. Caring about it almost. He shook the thoughts away, making a mental note to watch himself and make sure not to scare her off.
Suddenly he was looking back again at the vampire. He was tall, dark curly hair. It seemed as though theyd met before, but he Knew that Could Not Be So. Jasper and Vampire in General always remember those who they Met. Even if they didnt remember what, ever single thing was stored within their memory. Forever.
Sonia actually moved away from Jasper a bit when she saw a young man sitting a table by himself. She had already eaten but she couldn't help it. Sonia looked him over and decided not to do anything. Her attention once again went back to the vampire and the girl. He looked protective of the human. Pathetic
"'Onto your laptop just in case'?" Lae raised an eyebrow. "Has no one told you how unreliable those things are these days? Last one I had crashed, got fixed, crashed within a week, got fixed, then crashed the next morning." He paused, then added, "That's when I stopped using laptops."
He nodded a bit in understanding at writing things down when first inspired. He stayed silent for a moment as he watched her add something to her poem, then said, "I've actually never been much of a writer myself. I mean, I like to write, but never much anything serious like a novel or whatever. Nothing I could get published." He shrugged. "Besides... I guess you could say I always put a bit of myself into my writing. That's always made me uncomfortable with showing it to other people."
OOC// I'm sorry. I'm having problems keeping up with the roleplay, so I'm going to have to drop out.
Viviane laughed at Lae's remarks on laptops. "I know how unreliable those things are. Trust me, mine has crashed numerous of times. And that is why I store them on a flash drive as well. I try to keep my works at least somewhat safe. Which is ironic since I drop them often. If you flip through my notebooks, you can see phone numbers, notes, comments, names, etc. All those are from people who found my notebook that I dropped, and they felt like adding something. I even have poems that other people wrote that they put in here. How they end up finding me? I have no idea,'' she said with a slight shrug.
She listened to his explanation of what he meant by writing. While he was talking, she finished writing what she wanted in her short story, but she still was paying attention. Once she was finished, she set her notebook in her lap and but the pencil in the rings of the notebook. "Yeah, I know how it is, having parts of yourself in the writings. That happens with me often. I don't read those poems out loud, but people still see them when they go through my notebook they pick it up.''
Ooc: What time Period does this take place, just to be clear.
Bic: Jasper felt a little bit ashamed of having to protect Sonia. Or thinking He had to rather. Something about her just made her seem weak and frail. But Jasper knew better. The weakest vampire was stronger and less needy than the strongest human. He continued to eye Caine searching his face for any meaning. Although he was certain there was nothing to read there. Just a careful, friendly mask, a Facade for the human he'd supposed.
((It's present time.))
Caine didn't like the sound of her uncle. Why wouldn't her uncle be happy to see her safe at home? He scowled for a second and then sighed. "We're not going to your aunt's house. We're going to mine. If that's okay with you, of course."
He was still highly aware that the other two vampires were still following them. Why? What did they want? He was almost positive that he didn't know them, so he had nothing for them.
Caine was surprised by the sudden contact. It was unexpected, but pleasant. Generally, the only contact he had with humans was of the more intimate sort. He smiled to himself, glad that she hadn't taken offense at his invitation. He was glad to have company after such a long period of solitude.
Yes, it was so nice to have found a new companion, especially one who seemed so familiar and dear like his dear sister. Unfortunately, he knew in the back of his mind, that she was human and therefore, would not last forever. For her, death would not be so waking as it was for him. That knowledge made him sad.
"Back to Decatur Street," he instructed. "I live above The Mask Factory."
"I wouldn't dream of it," Caine reassured her. "Tough I must warn you, there are quite a few masks in my house. Just don't look at them before I get all the lamps turned on and the candles lit. They can be quite chilling in the shadows."
They passed drunks and mule-drawn carriages on their way back down Decatur to The Mask Factory. Caine withdrew a key from his pocket and slipped it into the front door of the shop and pushed it open. Inside the building, hundreds of masks of all colors, styles and sizes lined the walls, shadowed by the gloom, watching them as they entered. Caine's eyes were adapted to the darkness as he led the way up the stairs at the back to the door of his apartment. He slipped a second key into that lock and the door swung open to reveal a completely dark room.
Lae nodded slightly. "Yeah..." was all he said, seeming lost in thought. There was a moment of silence, before he asked, "Is there anything particular that you're fond of writing? Just out of curiousity." He shrugged, slightly. "Me, I can't seem to ever make things up for myself. I always seem to find myself writing about my life, or the life of someone I'm close to." He snorted and added, "Not that there's many people like that."
Jasper followed lazily behing the other Vampire, keeping up with their human like pace easily. The girl was young and seemed to be completely out of it. How could she want to follow a stranger, Into his Own House?! Hasnt she ever heard not to talk to strangers? It was almost disgusting the way she held onto him. And it made him sick to his stomach. But there was no way this could go far. She was a human, and therefore would die shortly. Leaving the male to continue living. As all Vampires had to face, if of course they didnt turn their human companions. But who could with that upon themselves? Death. Or No Death. Living Everyday for the rest of eternity. Never dying.
Viviane's eyes dulled back down to how they normally were. "I'm particularly fond of writing poetry. More specifically I am fond of writing things about the night...and cemeteries,'' she said, adding the last part as she thought about it. "I tend to write ones of dying too,'' she added with a slight shrug. "At times I write about myself, but most of the time I don't. People tend to think I do just because I used 'I' in my poems. It's simply in first person,'' she said flatly. When Lae snorted, she giggled softly. "Trust me, I know how that is,'' she added with a soft sigh. Pain, sadness, and loneliness flashed in her eyes. Her head was still bowed to her notebook, so her eyes could be faintly seen.
"Well, yes and no," he replied. This was New Orleans, the home of Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras was synonymous with masks. The tourists liked the masks, so the shops sold them, and he lived above the shop, so he had managed to snag a few of them.
He passed by Seiren into the front room and fount a lighter on the coffee table. Next to it, there was a large, red pillar candle with three wicks. He lit all of them and then proceeded to light multiple candles positioned randomly around the room. Then, he turned on two dim, antique lamps. He much preferred natural light to artificial. "Make yourself comfortable," he told her, collapsing onto the couch and gesturing to the spot next to him.
Sonia refused to kill a human but had never been so protective of one. Is he in love with her? Several different thoughts filled her mind at once. She yawned and dodged a drunk stumbling to the ground. This was the most excitement she had had in a long time.
"Dance naked around ritual fires and howl at the moon. Occasionally I'll watch an episode or two of Scooby Doo. And what do you do for fun?" He grinned freely, hoping that the dim light would hide his bright fangs. Reaching above his head, he stretched fluidly.
In the next room there was a kitchen full of food that he kept stored for use as last meals for his meals. He rarely indulged in human food. "Can I interest you in a drink?"
Jasper continued walking, not turning to make sure that Sonia was still following. Her footsteps on the pavement gave it away. "How do you think We should handle this? Break in? Or just wait him out..." Trailing off at the end he realized that soon he would have to start making his way back to the building he called 'home.' The sun would be rising within a few hours and of course, he wouldnt be caught outside when it did.
He eyed the pair warily as they entered the building, trying to decide what the best decision was. Stupid girl he thought, shaking his head slightly. She was so Trusting. Mabye it would be better if some more people were like her in the world. More Trusting. Easier Targets. More Food.
