Nightmare is the only color that is ethereal, sort of "wispy". The other colors have much more defined edges. Reborn would be another one that is close in style to what I imagine. You're right about the colors, or lack thereof. Glacier and Angelic have little color, and do offer alternatives to the standard pose. I want the best of both worlds. I want something akin to the Nightmare look, but without the aggression. SInce I personally don't care for cutesy that much, the Angelic series isn't what I'm after. The Glacier is better, but only marginally. The poor critters look like they're freezing to death. I want something that is "neutral" in terms of the pet expressions. No cutesy, no hostility, no suffering. Make sense? Or do you think it still sounds like skins that already are available?

Changing the eye color on a pet like a wardrobe feature would be more work than it's worth (because that'd be going back and doing this for every pet available) and it's much easier to just get/create an overlay of the pet.

I agree with that reusable elixirs would do awful things to the economy because really there would be no point in buying any more elixirs then, but I alway thing something like a loyalty totem for elixirs would be pretty bad too. There's just no point. They can't be moved out of the inventory and it's too easy to just transfer pets to other users/go through a pound adopt and with one potion technically every pet could be painted that one color.

As for the opposite of nightmare pet we already have so many close opposites we don't need another. We have glacier which is opposite in color and can also have a neutral expression at times (not all the times but there are quite a few that have neutral expressions) we have the angelic which is opposite in theme/motif and it also has an opposite expression. Nightmares are ferocious and scary while angelics are upbeat and friendly. Both Arid and Cream pets have an opposing color scheme to the nightmare.

The pet I truly consider to be its opposite though is Galactic. Nightmare pets are bad dreams, scary things that go bump in the night. While I see Galactic to be the good kind of dreams a night blanket covering over you. Good dreams and bad dreams.

We just have so many pets that would be close enough to the opposite of it we don't need to take the one thing that makes Nightmare truly unique (the wisps) and give it to another color. I'd understand if it was something like Spectrum and Blacklight, but it's not because you'd want different expressions as well.

I think users like to see variation in pets, even if it is just color. Look at most of the elixirs available now: arid, dawn, dusk, field, marsh, etc... THey are all just color variations of Common. So I don't think your color argument is very strong, but I do see your point. Do you think there would be many people who would trade their pets based on color? Is that a problem now? How would my idea make this problem worse? I am new to this world, so perhaps I have even more to learn than I thought.

You point out how there are so many light colors available now. I think there's a reason for that. I think it's because light colors are popular with users.

I like Galactic pets -- I have 2. I don't think it's the opposite of Nightmare. I can see how you think it is. ( Lovely description of Galactic, BTW! ) I just don't share your view. I see them as constellations, not dreams. It is nice having the stars for a pet... I still want dreams, though. Just a thought -- would you be less opposed to a new color if was more shades of grey than white?

Actually I'm going to blatantly say that I personally think your second and third paragraphs are wrong.

I said I wouldn't mind it if it was just a color change, but you want a different expression as well which means that you want completely different pets, which is not a color change. That's why you made a board about it, you wanted a new color. So saying that my color argument is a strong point makes no sense to me. Because daydream or whatever we would call this new pet wouldn't be a color variation of Nightmare. I think people would change their pets based on color because I'm sure there are people who have nightmare pets with overlays to show it in a light color but I also think they wouldn't if they got a pet like you wanted because there was obviously a reason they choose a menacing pet and the daydream would not be that. It wouldn't make the problem worse but we have a bunch of pets that aren't available in certain colors or that need revamps so I don't see how this would help anything either. I'm sure some of these people are waiting for nightmares of the species they want still.

There's nightmare, dusk, nuclear, graveyard, bloodred, blacklight, twilight, darkmatter and galactic that also incorporate dark colors, I think there's a reason for that. It's not because light colors are popular but it's because we have a mix of different colors, themes, and tones. I said there are so many opposites to nightmare, I also included galactic in these opposites. I didn't mean there are so many light colored pets to oppose nightmare being a dark color. Also as for the wisps I think the fact that Galactic pets have these kind of night sky glows behind them is also another contrast for the Nightmare's wisps.

I'm not opposed to a 'new color' I just don't see this being the new color I'd like to see.

Like I can see all of these Glacier pets as holding a neutral/regal facial expression (although I see a person who is daydreaming to be dopey with that glazed over eye/smile combo rather than regal/ethereal personally) that don't have any sort of cold breath wisp to them.

I think it'd be a lot better to just find a pet with the expression you want and then either make or commission a pet overlay from someone to have galactic wisps in them.

: For the sake of argument, let's say I am completely wrong about everything and you are right. Why should people who have more money have more choices? Your HA wearables are one thing -- CWs and Cash Shop items are such a small percentage of what's available to wear. Pet colors are a completely different story. There are far fewer choices to begin with. Not all of us have money to spend on things that don't exist in the real world.

Anyway, said similar ideas have been around "forever". I think that shows there is a real demand for such a color if different people keep coming up the same idea.

Does anyone know how new colors get offered -- how Subeta staff decide to offer a new color?

I honestly think a new color is decided by what staff wants. People begged for the Rift color and instead we got an experiment pet (people have also been begging for an owl species forever and still an experiment pet), people begged for the Candified plushies to be turned into a pet color yet we got the sweethearts --which aren't really alike instead--, I don't remember any large base of asking for the nostalgics and yet we have nostalgic pets.

I don't see it as people having more money getting more choices in terms of pets. Overlays cost like what? 250k last time I checked. It would cost you at least 10x more to potion your pet 'daydream' than it would to just get an overlay so the money shouldn't matter. (Custom Clothing also makes up ~25% of the wearables onsite so far by the way. Not really a small percent) You can't complain that you don't have money for it because not only is it possible to make one yourself but it's cheaper than basically any elixir out there or even profile and graphics freebies has free overlays going all the time.

They don't turn deaf ears to everyone but they don't have time to make every pet ever imaginable. The reason they probably haven't done it yet is because like I said it's really close to the nightmare pets.

Profile and Graphics market has everything you need. It has stickied topics that will teach you how to make overlays and it has shops that sell them as well as a freebies thread. If you want a complete redraw of something that's just a really nice piece of art then art market also sells them occasionally. Anybody who has as shop on subeta though is required to take at least 1 game currency slot.

The staff hardly turns a deaf ear to anyone. Suggestions are taken all the time from this forum, whether it be suggestions for more bears/facial hair, Rift pets, certain types of clothes, to TC items and food.

Just because the staff hasn't taken your suggestion, probably based on the reasons listed (easy to get an overlay/extremely similar to other colors) doesn't mean that the staff ignores everyone.

If you are interested in drawing your own overlay, you can use any program from Paint, Paint.NET, GIMP, PhotoShop... it's usually easier to commission one though.

The only reason I say they turn deaf ear to everyone is due to comments I've heard from a variety of users about a variety of subjects. Not all are about pets or clothing or other items. My remark was offhand, I apologize if I offended you. I only meant to convey the frustration I feel.

Just about everything you described you wanted in these pets can be found in Angelic, Glacier, and Galactic. If you want something ethereal get one of those pets and overlay it.

I reject this idea, there's no need for it. Besides, there's too many pets in need of revamps and many that aren't even available in all colors yet. We don't need another pet color to add to that.

this is not the "same" idea. The staff doesn't get much from releasing new colors, and it's not like you're paying the staff artists directly to draw you pretty pets (like art commissions, which also includes pet overlays). New colors will be released eventually, and the staff do look at the suggestions boards. I'm not sure what you're expecting... that you make a board demanding this color and that the exact color and specifications be released within a month? Like everybody mentions on many if not all pet color suggestions boards, we'd very much like the staff artists' time to be devoted to revamp old site art like and and actually draw up species-color combinations that still don't exist! Like the graveyard mahar.

Even so, it's ultimately up to the art staff to draw up whatever pets they feel like doing. Generally having your idea out here on this board is enough, and the rest is in the hands of the art staff
