Yeah, I think the fact that it is one window is what she's complaining about.

I wish it said what we get after, it just says "you have accepted the offer" now.

Well, whenever I type in an item to Search, I only get trades with that item in it...I'm not getting random trade lots like others are complaining of. That's weird...

Astrile, thats because while you're in the Trades, you're really only on one page the entire time, and even if you click around to different trade areas, it's still on that one old page. So the info doesn't get updated. Sorry if that made no sense. xD;

I completely agree with JaneDoe the only addition added that is actually a good thing...is the user status..other than that..I dread going there.

I hope this gets fixed so all Firefox users can use trades. I don't think this new system had many fans when it was introduced to forums - why extend it to something vital as trades? (especially when some firefox users can't load pages in it at all).

As for new content - I agree that italics should be removed. Also is seeing "Description: No description available." really necessary? So much italics eyes hurt

arg! this new version is frustrating with not being able to use the back button, and how when you search for something, it doesn't only give you the EXACT item- it comes up with random other items with the name. I don't want random items- i want the item i searched for! just bring the old system back! please!

I suppose it seemed like a good idea at the time. Poor admins. Who'd have thought everyone would hate it, huh?
I like the notification of a user's status. That a big win. Also removing the items from trades after 30 days is a win too.
I don't see what the big deal is about the 'back button'. I have NEVER once been allowed to use it (always taken to blank pages, or post data pages, etc). Still not being able to use it is no loss for me. I adapted.
Not being able to refresh will be a pain in the butt, that's for sure, but there are other ways to see what's new that popped up (like hitting the 'Recent Lots' link again. Just like hitting refresh, but it's a link! oooh )
I'm going to miss how many trades I can see on one page. I liked looking at 100 at once. But my friend missed the old way, so she's happy it's back. So then I can deal with it too.

Um... ok I'm now starting to get a little annoyed by it. When I click on the trade link from someones profile it doesn't take me to their trades. It takes me to the trade search. Is this a bug? Also, I don't like how you have to wait so long for your trades to update because of caching. It was instantaneous before.

Oh no o.O Now I'll have to cry. I want to be brought to the profile and not to other trades of the user if I click on the name. This is just horrible, horrible, horrible. I have to agree with anyone else, please bring back the old system! I could easily do without the new features, but not without the old ones.

D8 Waaiiit... Now when you click the username it sends you to their trades? Nonono. Out of everyone I know, people only click the usernames to get to the PROFILE so we can get to their WISHLIST, because a lot of people want wishlist items for their trades. We don't want to see what else they have to trade. e___e

No refreshing or going back? It's becoming like the forums. :'C The only good thing about the new trades is what everyone else stated before, the user notification and deletion of trades after a month. Other than those features, I really dislike the trades now.

No. That's all I have to say to this change. Just a huge no. I appreciate the work, but this update was a rather bad idea... The only good thing I can state about it is the addition of the message where you are told if the user was not online for the last few days.

When trading, I like to be able to access a user lookup directly instead of seeing that person's trades. I'm interested in one item, I want to message them about one item. I don't want to buy all of their lots. I don't want to search for the user in order to mail them.
The addition of the italics in the 'description' text is a bad idea. Why not keep the 'Description:' bit bolded out and keep the actual description of the trade lot in a normal non-bolded non-italic font? It's not that large of a problem, surely.
The main reason why I dislike visiting the forums too much is that extremely irritating issue with the 'back' and 'refresh' buttons. It's not really pleasing to know that this has shown up in the trades, too. It's not helping. If I click the 'back' button, I expect to be taken back a page. Not to be taken back to the first page I've clicked before going to the actual trades 'index' page.

I'm not the only one unhappy about this. So, taking note of the fact of how many users complain, it might be a good idea to revert back to the old version of the trades. Only keep the message saying when a user was offline for xx days. The rest of the 'update' just repels me from the trades in general.

pleeeeeeease bring the old trades back.

  1. if i click on a users name, i want to go to their profile, to contact them or see if they're online. Not to see their other lots.
  2. no back button. i like being able to go back.
  3. why do random trades come up when i search for something?!
  4. the index page is a pain. "preparing to load" and so on only makes it take longer to put up a trade really quick. its the reason i dont frequent the forums, and id hate to avoid trading for the same reason. -the only positive thing i see is the warning about how old the trade is. other then that, PLEASE bring back the old trades. They'd be perfect if the search was fixed.

How about putting the newest trades on top so we don't ahve to go through all those "user hasn't been online for more than 30 days"? And the italics are annoying, too.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Heres a slight suggestion, ya dont have to listen to me, but I think it would make the trades great: If (jus like you have this user hasn't been seen in 3 days, 30 days, all that jazz), if the person is online, then it would say something like This user is online right now! Or something like that Would make it alot easier than searching every single trade, just to find a person who's online

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I like the old one better

I would prefer it that when I click on the user name, it goes to the lookup (this way it's easier to check if they're on or offline)...At the moment, if you click on the name, it shows you all that that person's trades.

And while you're making all of these 'improvements' it would also be nice if you fixed the glitch where not all peoples items are showing up when they're searched for. When I did a search some of my items still aren't showing up. It makes it tough to trade when people can't even see I'm selling certain items.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Cadence

I don't like that when I search for a specific item a ton of other completely unrelated trades show up. I searched for the item Clawsion Toy Wand and 100 lots showed up, only 16 of them actually had the item I searched for. Why should I have to sift through all that junk when I searched for a specific item?

I despise the italics. I don't know if it's just me, but it's too hard to read large chunks of italics. The search feature would be nice...if it worked properly. The notification and deletion of old trades is nice, but it would have been so much better if they had just added those features to the old trades, instead of just updating the whole thing. Also, I miss the refresh and back buttons. Like most people, I relied heavily on those, especially to browse newest trades. I'm also wondering what the index link is for. It doesn't seem to really do anything.

Mhn. thanks. I just find it horrible to trade. I had a reserved lot, and it took me ages to find it- I couldn't search for my Wicked Aura Flame in the trades, nor could I see it when clicking on the user's trades from her profile. And she said that she almost rejected my offer, since she got no notification that it was me who offered and thought it might be someone else.

I totally agree with Earthen's comment. Aside from the notification and deletion of old trades nothing else in the new system is in any way an improvement over the old system. I would love to see the old trade center return, though I doubt that will happen at this point.

In general I like the new trading system. Is it true that trades are cleared after 30 days? If that is true, then that is a HUGE improvement, but why oh why wait a month? Why not two weeks? I can't see where it would hurt buyers or sellers to clear trades after 2 weeks of inactivity.

-nods- I'd like to see the old trading system reinstated. I rather.... pardon this, but I hate what's been done to trades. There's just.... so much that the old system was better at than this. I'd keep the notifications about how long the user has been away for and the deletion of old trades- that is the only improvement over the old- and set the rest back to the old system That is the only thing salvageable about this new system.

Hm, well user links work now, but they just forward you to other trades by the same user, was that intentional? :-/ I kind of liked being able to go to the user's page right away to comment or sMail.

I also agree with clearing older trades. Honestly, if I was that person, when I got back on and if there was an offer for what I was asking for I'd just accept it right away. But the thing is, those items have inflated, so the user is getting ripped off because they didn't know. BUT if the trade was canceled, I'd look up the price and then know it went up, so no ripping off would take place. xD; Does that make sense?

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I don't like the switch to the forum-esque system, quite a hassle. If I type in an item name, chances are I want to see that exact item, I should not have to keep hitting search ten times because of similarly named items coming up when I search. If you want to have a feature like that, make it optional to search for lots including phrase or identical to phrase. The 30-day notification system is an improvement, but cancelling the trade after a certain period of time - I would actually suggest two weeks - would be a better idea IMO. The person can always put the item back into trades if they are active. If they are not active, there is no point in having their item cluttering up the trades.

One annoying thing I've noticed is the inability to highlight an item name and copy it to your clipboard. It's like this when the page first loads, at least in Firefox 2.0.0.4. I haven't tried any other browsers yet.

There are some hoops I can jump through to finally get the copy function active, but it is a bit of a pain to do this as I often see items in trades other than the item for which I was searching and then I'll want to search for them. It was a lot easier when i could just highlight and copy and paste.
