The Swampie has gotten a revamp, and hopes to win a place in your home. It is also now available in Marsh.

No, we don't "NEED" to have polls for every revamp.. or any, really, to be honest; that's why we have an Art Department. Not all users have a good understanding of anatomy (granted, some do, but definitely not all, as was very clearly evidenced in some past revamp comments); also users don't necessarily know where Subeta style is heading, while the artists/art directors can see all versions of all pets being worked on by the artists and see which need revamped in what way to be consistent. This particular pet has been consistently requested to be revamped. Why adopt them out if you dislike a particular revamp but like the name? Why not just elixir or zap? Art on any site is not static; it needs to change and evolve and be dynamic, not just sit and stagnate. How boring would that be?

Oh, WinterFae, I absolutely agree with you. We NEED to have polls to prepare us and let us actually have a decision with the damn thing. I, personally, have disliked every single new revamp you guys have come out with lately, and I can just see my other pets are going to be screwed up soon. I really wish there was a delete feature for pets so I don't have to adopt them out and watch other people get my names that I've used since I was a kid. Ugh.

Ugh. Ok, then. I can just see the Torreys are going to be next. I better save the picture before it changes so I won't forget its look.

I like this, it's refreshing to see a pet get updated without losing the essence of what makes it special. It looks much better now, but still so Swampie-like!

Veeery nice!!! ...I think... Even though I agree with some, that it is not that nice, if you liked your pet just the way it used to be before - And believe me, I know how that feels and it made me quit, well, almost completely!

I thought "Nessie" the first time I saw this pet

I didn't like the dragon revamp, but this I love. Won't go changing my pets into one any time soon, but at least it doesn't look bad when th zapper does. =D

I love this revamp. Now my (galactic) Swampie doesn't look so drastically different from the other coloured Swampies. I think that, had the common and other basic-posed Swampies looked like this before, I'd not have been so quick to use a morphing potion on Alaena when she changed into one from the Pet Zapper.

I do appreciate the polls, it makes me feel like the admin values the users opinions, so wish there had been a chance to vote (It would have atleast prepared everyone for change. I think thats the big problem. Users get up in arms cause they dont expect it).

That being said I love the redraw! (I would have voted for it).

I don't know. It's not bad or anything, but I'm pretty glad that none of my swampies are effected.

Something about the back end of it seems weird to me.

This pet hasn't been "drastically changed". As I said before, it is the job of the head artists, with Keith, to decide on revamps, and they have been critiqued by the art staff as well. Polls aren't really necessary any longer at this point, especially not on this particular revamp, which isn't a particularly radical change at all. This version would clearly have been favored over the former version. The idea is to get fresher, more consistent with the current Subeta style, art; the artist of the former version of the Swampie hasn't been on Staff for quite some time now. And the version prior to that one was the dread unibrow Swampie; anyone remember him? XD

Well, I drew the pet before the redraw (though I tweaked the pet a little afterward, because the art on the original wasn't as good).

I like this revamp, the swampie has been on the unpopular side and hopefully this will help it out a bit. shrug As I, myself, probably still won't get one. But I dig the art! Way to go.

I didn't like the dragon revamp and some of the more recent ones...but I think this one turned out quite nicely! The shading is really nice...it looks really sleek and shiny like a water creature should.

I don't think staff should have to poll us on everything, but if it's a major change (dragon) or something they're unsure of then they should. This is really a minor change to the design with updated art, so it can't really be all that necessary, can it? But I guess for the people who loved their swampies for their vacant look and puny spikes then it probably is... mm.

While I do think Aqua did a lovely job and it's a wonderful revamp, I don't think it's very.. .logical to use REDRAW pet colors as a basis for how the basic pet should look. Kinda takes the fun away out of being a redraw

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I prefer the old Swampie, and the shorter spines, I think I'll be morphing my pet again (Will wait until the next month to make Misty another pet) and the shorter tail. I wish the staff learned from the Dragon revamp to please poll us.

Update the pose without drastically changing the pet. I've already bounced from Help: Other Pet Sites to this site, and I'm tempted to leave again if my reasons for choosing this pet species change so quickly!

Maybe they need a new color... something light that they can use to test revamps with? Maybe a new color called Snow or Cloud or... just something. I'm thinking something white and light blue, seeing as Arid is white and pink/red (with some black).

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I did love the old Swampies, but the new ones are pretty snazzy, and hopefully more people will like them. Though I am a bit sad about the coloring of my Dawn Swampie - she used to have cute little pink frosting toes, but now they are a weird orange.

I have to agree that I wish they would stop using the galactics as a preface to revamps as the shading is sometimes rather dark and hard to see the details as well as the galactics being in a different pose than the common versions of the species. I just don't feel it is a fair comparison because of that. Can I say again how much I like the new version of the swampies...especially the marsh one?

"I just hope the Galactic Swampie does not change."

...the new Swampie was made to look like the Galactic Swampie. Aqua drew the Galactic Swampie as her first Swampie colour and now she has revamped most of the rest. Honestly, there is hardly any difference between the Galactic and common Swampie.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by minno150

The Galactic Swampie won't be changed because it was basically the test run for the revamp. I really wish they'd stop using galactics for that... I can't see the lineart without squinting.

"I don't know why they had to be revamped, people picked their pets because they like the way it looks. Now the future of my swampie seems uncertain. I hope I get use to it eventually"

Ummm..you have a Galactic Swampie, that was the first revamp of the Swampie, they have the longer spikes on their backs and the face on the Galactic Swampie looks more like the new one.

Basically how can you bad mouth this revamp when one of your pets has been made since Aqua took over.

Well, my magical creature encyclopedia says kelpies are "The classic water horse in Celtic, and especially Scottish, tradition. The Kelpie haunted rivers rather than lochs or the sea." So, I guess they might not be demons... I swear they were.
