Quest-a-thon: PRIZES part one

Thank you everyone for participating in this year’s Quest-a-thon! We’ve started giving out the basic prizes and will be working on the prize for the top 100 folks over the next few days.

Just a reminder of what these prizes entail:

Completing at least one quest got you: 1 pet slot, the style hoodie (which you can transform!), 5 referral points, 10 loyalty points, and the Questin' Hard achievement. This achievement gives you the forum title “Questing hard, or hardly questing?” which was the most liked suggestion in a past news post because I forgot to do a poll. SORRY EVERYONE.
Originally, we had planned that if you completed 100 quests you would get the Green Sun Sparkle HA border. Due to some programming issues, we’ve changed it to having quested at least three days (no cap on to how many quests just the fact you did some!). So if you fit that, you get the Green Sun Sparkle HA border.

Note: The event says “total completed” and should say “days of quests completed” for some, it's been updated but the first few to get the event have the old messaging (before we sorted out the green sun sparkle HA border issue)

Second note: We're aware of the issue with the achievement being unlocked, and are looking into it.

I have the border, but I agree that it is unfair to people who did 100 quests in 1 or 2 days. They might have been too busy to do more days. Can you manually reward it to them or something?

I did over 100 quests and my event says I did 3 days of questing and I still didn't get the Green Border. Broken AF. Also +1 for silently changing the requirements being v not cool. Y'all should have logging from the quest achievements and stuff, no?

Also, the Blue Sun Sparkle Border technically just says "Participated in a quest-a-thon" so that should probably be updated.

I know that you couldn't tell people during the actual quest-a-thon about the requirements changing, but I agree with the other post about it factoring in what the minimum quest day would have been for 100 quests for the achievement since people who are not big on questing would have likely gotten it over with in as few quest days as possible. It's clear from the news posts that people who did 100 quests still ended up missing out on the achievement which is a shame. It's not a nice feeling to be told one thing and have another thing done and it affects longer term trust in the site. :c

I think perhaps going forward for these events should involve brief downtime to test the code going out so we avoid this situation in the first place. I'm not sure if others would like that but it might (? or should?) avoid issues like these.

Yeah I’m extremely miffed about the border requirement changed. I had all 100 quests done in one day, and I’m not into questing so that’s all that I did, specifically for the border. Completely bogus.

"You finished with 4 days of quests completed" There was a time (before the great server F'up of 2018) I would have actually done all quests every day. Because thats what I did everyday on here. Now tho, CBA. Thanks for the prizes :)

I want to apologize about the confusion, it was totally my fault when we started the quest-a-thon for not double checking how the scoring was tabulated in the database. It adds to a total score (what you saw on the news page) and logs that the user has done the quest.

The table that it logs to is a database table called quest_a_thon which had a unique index on "date" and "userid", which meant that it was constrained to only create one row each day (and not throw an error, just quietly fail).

I'm going to circle up with Amber tomorrow to figure out the best way to do the avatar borders, but again, great job at completing the quest-a-thon and we'll make sure you're all taken care of!

I meant in the Claim Titles area you go to, and claim the title. All the titles listed aren't in ABC order which made checking to see if I got title or not difficult. I had to slowly scan all titles I have earned. Thanks for letting me know they are aware of issue with achievement not being unlocked.

I did do claim achievements title twice, and I didn't get credit or the title. I read every title I have and its not there. FYI staff would be nice if titles were in ABC order, making the search easier.

Achievement title is not being credit to me, in the new achievement area. Shows, I am not getting credit for achievement, even though I got event on my dash board. If someone knows how to activate it, or solution plz comment or ping me. Thanks

Also I agree that changing the way prizes are awarded after the fact should never exclude anyone who would have qualified under the original conditions. Just give it to everyone who quested one day since 100 could be completed in one day if that's the only way to count it now.

all the other issues aside, this was a really unkind switch up. :
the amount of quests someone can do ranges between 90 and 155 (depending on what they have access to and if they have a gold account), so there's probably a good handful of people who only did one or two day's worth of quests explicitly for the green border. the least you could've done was had the requirement be two days since a person who could only do the absolute minimum (90 quests) would've needed two days to finish 100 quests anyway.

Dunno if it was pointed out but the two new hoodies don't work in the quick stock? Not sure if intentional but I was quick stocking items to collections/wardrobes and it didn't do that for me, so I manually added them in.
